not bad for 20 minutes...a little decluttering is better than nothing! hope you enjoyed this video. we are tackling the junk room, then hallway, then kitchen over the next month. what else do you wanna see? thanks again to my sis for sharing her home❤❤❤
I have the utmost respect for you both. So much love and care in this non judgemental walk through a precious person’s life. On my own journey my first step was to stop watching tv about 12 years ago. Very gradually my indiscriminate spending decreased until it finally stopped. I still buy things but mostly I don’t buy unnecessary stuff any more. I am a wool hoarder. I have about 3 years worth of fibre in my cupboard. I am working through it, it’s a joyful ‘decluttering’. Thank you so much for sharing your journey to financial and mental wellness. ❤
My favorite shopping habit is filling up my shopping cart and really thinking about which items I want, removing things I don't really really want/need, and then once I'm satisfied with the price, I close out of the shopping site and watch youtube or a show or otherwise occupy myself. Gives me the satisfaction of shopping without losing money and without getting items that I have been able to live without. Any items I truely need I have to go to the grocery store for (even for the items in my online shopping cart).
I went to Kohl's the other day to return something to Amazon. When I entered the store it looked like Christmas threw up all over the place. They had every kind of christmas-themed item decorations bath towels kitchen towels sweaters you name it it was Christmas themed. All I kept thinking was clutter clutter clutter. Run run run. Wasn't tempted in the least.
Much admiration in how you are gently handling your Sister’s feelings towards the decluttering process but yet keeping her accountable!! Yay Sisters!!♥️
It is such a loving endeavor to help your sister with all these decisions. It is difficult and you have been kind and mindful of her feelings. Admiration!
I'm really impressed with how serious your sister is about decluttering. I love how this process gives you clarity about what you're buying. Its not until you bring all of the similar things together into one place that you can really see how much you already have. I found that the more I got rid of the less I wanted to buy. It's not just the wasted money, it's the appreciation that you develop for owning less and having less to deal with. I'm working through backlogs in both cleaning supplies and haircare/skincare. I feel like doing a little happy dance every time I use something up and can take a fresh one out of the backups, lol.
I SO relate to your comment. I overbuy cleaning supplies for sure. You’d think I have a cleaning company. Ironically, while I’m great at tidying and organizing and decluttering, cleaning as in scrubbing floors and vacuuming, is definitely not my strong suit. I never have dirty dishes in my sink, and I scrub toilets pretty much every day, but you can eat off my floor as in there’s at least enough crumbs to make a snack. Why do I order things like brooms and mops and cleaner - do I think there are some that are magical and won’t require effort on my part? I’m officially calling myself out on this foolishness. You’ve inspired me, along with lovely Carla and her lovely sister.
I used to do backup buying as well and it was an anxiety thing. I challenged myself to not buy and extra pack of toilet paper & paper towels when I already had some and it's good. Now I only have to buy it once per month. Yay!!!!
@@solitudewithmichelle Same here and absolutely related to anxiety. We had to completely move out of the main floor of our home for a total remodel which began in January of this year. It was a wake up call about how pointless it was for me to overbuy and stock up. I made a vow not to do that in the future and mostly I haven’t. I didn’t even have shelves put up in the laundry room during the remodel, because they just attracted the clutter of overbuying and forgetting we already had things like lightbulbs and paper towels and a ridiculously huge bottle of Windex. The only things in my laundry room now are the washer and dryer on pedestals and the drawers of the pedestals hold nothing but the use and care manuals and Color Catcher sheets and dryer sheets. And, there’s a cleaning cabinet with a rod attached for hanging laundry. That’s it. The two shelves that used to attract excess and random stuff no longer exist. I ended up giving a lot of new cleaning supplies and paper goods to the food bank, along with pantry items. So while I still buy and have too many cleaning products I don’t have as many as I once did, I’m making progress. Now if I could sort out and pare down the ridiculous amount of travel accessories/toiletries I have. They all fit on one shelf in my travel cabinet (where I store suitcases) but I still have too many.

I love this "We're Tired" declutter. This is my speed and I love the interaction between you and your sister. The whole house should be brand new by Christmas.
Your sister said „It helps me a lot to keep other areas clean. I didn‘t know how to start because it overwhelmed me.“ It is so true! She does not has to be ashamed of her clutter piles. There‘s advertisment everywhere and every company seem to sell the „Perfect“ product and impulse buying has gotten kinda normal by that. It is totally me at the beginning of decluttering! God bless you both! ❤️
I've really enjoyed this series, Carla! You and your sister are so sweet to each other and have a great sense of humor laughing through all of this project. Such a great example of how we can show each other grace as we tackle these huge projects. You guys are blessed to have each other! I would love to hear how y'all made it through no buy November. Thank you for sharing!
Your sister is doing such a great job at declutterring. I know it’s not easy for her, but you are being so kind about it and also making her think about why she is keeping certain items.
Hi Carla, I usually watch your show on TV so I'm not able to make comments. But I'm online today and I thought I'd comment. You asked that we introduce ourselves and mention where we are from. I am a 67 year old woman in Texas and I love your show. I live alone and I feel I can relate to you! I'm sure most of your audience is younger, but I thought you'd be interested! I was going to make a suggestion for decluttering things. Do you have Freecycle in California? It's great for things you want to give away but may not be appropriate for a charity shop. Such as used candles (people melt them down and remake new candles), hangers (our charity shops never want them), extra wood or paint or tools. Cleaning supplies or bath supplies I'm no longer using. Lots of things. I removed the contractor grade mirrors from my bathrooms and replaced them with framed mirrors. A young man came and got them for his home. Key word, they come and pick things up! I think there's something called Trash Nothing, but I've been using Freecyle for years.
Hi Gail yes! we used freecycle for some of the garage decluttering. So many items were picked up! I hadn;t heard of it until that weekend we did her garage so yes its a great resource,...also next door app and buy nothing groups❤️
Love, love, love this series! I'd like to see you complete an initial declutter throughout the entire house. Then revisit some months later to see how the no-buy/use-up is going and to continue the reduction even further. Your beautiful sis is doing an amazing job. It's a process and a pathway...the end results are worth the struggle! She will love her home again and save so much money for something other than "more stuff."
I love that she chose donate on one item, and then it started her declutter strength. When we make that first one, and we get that dopamine hit from the freedom and lightness of it leaving our space. It's just SUCH a motivator!
She is doing great. Maybe having a boundary for things, like get a freestanding pantry cabinet and not allowing any further food that does not fit in the pantry. That has worked for me for many years in a small kitchen. It’s easy to buy more when stuff gets squirreled away in different spots.
I'd love to find somewhere we can put a free standing tall pantry cabinet. the one wall in kitchen would block the window so it's tough but still problem solving...
Maybe y’all can clear out a cabinet in the kitchen and use that as the second 1/2 of pantry storage. 🤷🏻♀️ just an idea. A short cabinet under the window plus the cleared out kitchen cabinet. 🤷🏻♀️😊 trying to think of ideas.
I think the best part about this series is that it's so realistic... Some days, you literally just don't want to or can't declutter. I also love that you do ask some difficult questions about whether or not to keep, but for the most part you accept the decision even if you would have personally decluttered.
It's amazing how finding the strength to just begin gives the momentum needed to just do something. You know that you're shopping mindset has changed when you go into Marshall's and just leave with the one item you needed, or with nothing because you did not find exactly what you needed or wanted. "The journey of 1000 miles begins with one step." Your sister has taken many steps by this point. Good for her. Many of us are saying "no more," to this marketing sabotage that we've been subjected to.
I like the Amazon talk you had. I do the same thing. I put stuff in the cart and then realize I don't need it. It's like the Amazon cart is where I can put the impulse items I would normally buy in real life, but in reality I never waste the money.
Hey Carla! Love how your sister can now "shop" her home instead of buying new! This past week I decluttered my bedroom closet and removed a shelving unit of dusty "decorative" items! YAY!!
Love this series. I am a prepper. Sis just has to learn that what she buys should only but what she actually uses for the most part. Prepping is for any emergency or disaster. So use the candles daily especially the smell good ones. the food only buy what you use normally and rotate. It's called a working pantry. Trust me when i first started i made the same mistakes. You guys are rocking this series. I put all my prepping for power outage in the buckets you had in garage with the yellow tops. and label the buckets. i only keep candles inside that i use daily. Good luck! can't wait to finish watching the rest of the series.
I can totally relate to your sister !!! I have bought so much stuff that now I am literally crammed full of stuff . I am trying not to buy , not easy !!! I have managed to pay off all c/c except 1 and that is the one to focus on now . I have recently started watching your declutter series and it’s so inspiring. I want to declutter and it’s overwhelming to get started . So I did the 2 coffee tables in the living room . Now I need to do one area at a time . Thank you .
Your sister is really efficient and "open-minded" with her stuff ! Typically people are anxious, agitated and aggressive when they're tackling decluterring with someone else. I'm glad this can go well too
I volunteer at a thrift store and we take old candles and sell them in a box for cheap. There are people who melt the candles down and mix it with dryer lint. They pour it in egg cartons and use them as fire starters.
Hey, one bag of trash and one bag of donate leaving the house is a major accomplishment. You only fail when you quit trying. Be proud and give yourselves major kudos ladies.
So in love with this series. I especially enjoyed the discussion at the end about the realization of buying “new” things that were a different version of something she already has. I think we have all been guilty of that. Using up what you already have before purchasing new is such a great habit! Can’t wait for the next video ladies! ❤
Thank you for your motivation. I have struggled the past few years to clean and Declutter after my mom passed away and my brother moved in with me. These videos helped me get started today. It wasnt easy but i did the kitchen today. Thank you for sharing your story. We all have one and im so glad people are fearless to share theirs. Thank you so much
my house got so out of control in the past 20 years, it's key to throw away items periodically (my daughter does every 2 months or so, a donation truck pulls up and takes her stuff away). My mother is very elderly and has not let go of anything in many years and refuses to do so. It's such a vicious cycle, yesterday i hired a man to wipe out one room including ripping up a 30 yr old wall to wall carpet. It was a scene lol. (my house, not my mother's...she is still holding out) lol
I totally understand your sister and her buying habits. I've been talking to myself just like she had to stop buying stuff. It can be a real struggle but when you resist, it feels amazing!
This was such a great and funny video! Showing how even when tired, you can work a little and it can have a real impact. Watching you two is a treat you have a very sweet relationship.
When the decluttering started I was like "Okay now starts the serious business, I'm focusing now." And then Samson comes in to the picture "Samson!!!!!😍❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ Oh you cutie❤❤❤❤❤" There went my focus. Love your videos, love you, and love Samson❤
Y’all’s relationship is amazing! You both have had me in stitches lol 😂. I love that your sister was willing to share this experience with all of us and others who are struggling to do the same. Keep these videos coming the are fantastic! You have helped so many! I did the same for my little sister and it reduced so much stress in her busy life. Her husband said it helped her and more ways than he could ever imagine. Thank you I’m a new subscriber and can’t wait to keep binge watching all your videos.
Great tip to time short bursts to declutter. I always dont feel like cleaning/organizing. Bless you for helping your sweet sister with this overwhelming project of getting her house in order.
You're probably both still tired from the garage project ! That was an epic one ! But getting a whole stand cleared out to be donated is good progress too.. Your sister cracked me up when she said that Ebay froze on her and it was a sign. I've been doing that too.. I put things in my Amazon cart and wait awhile.. I've taken several things back out.. and I'm doing a no spend month. I have about 7 days to go.. I've only bought food and spent money at the chiropractor so not bad !! I am so looking forward to more of this series.
The problem is , in order to be a prepper she needs to be able to walk safely through her home, not to mention not starting a fire accidently with candles in a cluttered home. This poor lady. Good for her for outting effort in. I believe in going back to the area that has been complelted and decluttering it again as most of the time people can part with much more than they thought they could the first time around.
You and your sister did great in ur 20 minute no energy sit down declutter 🙂 I say include everyroom in her house as long as she is willing to continue to share . Bathroom, bedroom, attic if she has one.
I had no idea that a magnifying glass on a necklace was even thing until I saw your sister using one. What a great idea! I’m definitely getting one of my own. Thanks to your sister for inspiring me.
Sherry, I used to have a shopping thing too. When I realized it, I became a binge and purger (I would frequently return items soon after purchasing.) Then my next step was to put things in my shopping cart and delay checking out, delaying caused me to rethink the purchase and I would put a lot of the things back on the shelves, I now avoid shopping unless I have a well thought out list. Becoming more careful acquiring things has been a process but well worth the effort!
For your sister… Continue not buying. Save an amount each week, which would otherwise be spent on buying useless things, and in no time you will have a large amount of money for which you can go on a day out or a weekend trip. Not buying is also better for the environment. Good luck. Love your channel.
I love, love, love your sister! She is so loving, kind and got such a sweet disposition about her. I love all your videos but these are my favorites. I look forward to every single one of them. Please tell your sister we said Happy Thanksgiving. Same for you. Please tell her to keep the blue caninet. That will store so many items.
It seems that I've been decluttering for years. I need to declutter and organize my creative space. I can so relate to your sister's spending habits because mine are just like hers. I just recently prayed that God would teach me to be a good steward of my money and so far I'm doing good.
I truly love this series and it is so heartwarming to see how gentle and caring you and your sister are to each other in this very stressful situation. If you have time for more videos on top of what you already have planned, would love to see how you decorate your place for the holidays (if you decide to) and maybe a DITL video. Love you Carla (and Samson!)
This is awesome. Your sister has a lot of self awareness about her spending and seems really motivated to declutter her home. I think online shopping is challenging because it’s so easy to buy things. Wanting to be debt free is a GREAT reason to stop impulse buying. Keep up the great work ladies!! ❤️
I love and adore these sessions with you and your sister. I'm glad you're getting to spend time just chatting, also. But, honestly, I can tell how much this is helping her get through this overwhelming task and you're helping change her and her kids (and grandkids) lives for the better overall! What a tremendously sweet gift. XOX Joy
I love the fact that your sister is motivated and willing to de-clutter! I am trying this with a family member of mine but they move everything back, are not motivated to keep things clean, and take stuff out of our donation pile. It is always an argument after the other on what should stay or go. Keep up the great work! I would love to hear how your no-buy November goes! :)
I helped my youngest sister declutter and deep clean her main living areas and basement family room several years ago. It was very hard work, and I constantly had to put my tendency to judge aside. Despite it all, we had a great time. Coffee breaks, dance parties, cocktail hour, unearthing treasures, redesigning beautiful functional spaces. Thank you for bringing me back to better times between us.
I think that you being there is such a help - it's like a gym trainer - someone who's there for you - helping you to work towards your goals and dreams - that's a lovely thing to be able to do for someone else. Your lovely sister is so obviously determined to keep pushing through - and I hope she takes your words to heart - because all the things and the emotional inability to let them go and keep buying them - that happened over years - and it might take a few years for her and her family to have the home of their dreams. So, I hope she's gentle with herself, and treats herself kindly and leans on you for help when she needs it. Also, please let her know, that I'd absolutely die for her top - those colours are gorgeous - I love them!
I really liked that conversation at the end, it must have been nice to hear that her mindset is shifting through committing to decluttering. Hope no buy November is going well!
Another great video! I love your sister’s personality, her honesty and the evading of questions she doesn’t want to answer. So hilarious but also super motivating!
I love watching your videos. It gives me motivation on days when I just don't want to declutter or clean. Thank you to your sister for opening her home to us.
It is such a joy to see you with your sister. I have four and it is a blessing to be forward and honest while loving and laughing and being respectful about it all. I am your sister in that I too prepped for the zombie apocalypse. She and I have so much, and many, of the same things, and my house looks like hers. The before. Creative with the storing and stashing to the point of overwhelmed. I get every bit of her plans and reasoning. She's done so very well with her purging. You both did an awesome job and I've enjoyed every minute of it, and am inspired. 💕
Your sister is doing awesome! You can tell just over a few videos how it's getting easier for her to let go. I thing the biggest achievement in this video is how she acknowledging her shopping habits and talking through the purchase. Keep it up y'all are awesome ❤❤!
I think the last four to five minutes were the best part of the video because your sister talked through how she was tempted to buy some things but then she explained why she didn't. I love this series!
I am loving this series! I like how you're alternating larger, more daunting projects, like the garage, with smaller, less intimidating tasks like this. Also, I was dying at your subtle reactions to some of the items your sis wanted to keep! 😄
Your sisters place reminds me so much of my mother in laws. She has a shoppping problem and cannot walk away from a sale. Every single cupboars and drawer and unit is exploding with stuff. None of it is organised or grouped so she endlessly re buys. She reckons she knows everything she has and where it is. She definitely doesnt! She also struggles to throw away anything that could possibly ever be used.
I love this conversation at the end. I think that’s so helpful for people on a similar journey to hear, and a good reminder to those of us that are further along in our journey. Thank you both!
For her no-buy, A Hoarders Heart on RUclips makes cute printable monthly calendars for people to fill out the days they didn't spend any money, might be a nice tool for your sis :)
Having one area clean does motivate to keep it clean and want to declutter other areas so that too can be clean. I recall that the motivation is a more minimal lifestyle to decompress and come home to relax without stress of clutter everywhere. Sometimes it’s hard to recall the goal when one is used to justifying the need for every item that is sitting around. It’s tough to change a habit, and this is a habit to collect things.
not bad for 20 minutes...a little decluttering is better than nothing! hope you enjoyed this video. we are tackling the junk room, then hallway, then kitchen over the next month. what else do you wanna see? thanks again to my sis for sharing her home❤❤❤

Writing from Germany and i saw the first Christmas decorations in the beginning of September. It’s crazy…

I love your assistant! Thank you for including him in your videos! Good job with your sister and her decluttering. Enjoying the series!
THE DECLUTTER WITH YOUR SISTER ARE MY FAVORITE VIDEOS I LOVE HOW YOU TWO GET ALONG:)
Thank you .
this is great inspiration! I decided to declutter and organize one drawer in my kitchen and it's making me so happy
When Sis says she is motivated by your help that is a good thing!
Be proud and give yourselves major kudos ladies.
what a perfect home for declutter series , and u two are such sweethearts together
So in love with this series. I especially enjoyed the discussion at the end about the realization of buying “new” things that were a different version of something she already has. I think we have all been guilty of that. Using up what you already have before purchasing new is such a great habit! Can’t wait for the next video ladies! ❤
Yay! I’m a Big Sis myself, and she did sooo well!!
I really enjoy following this relatively slow and gradual declutter. This is how it is for most of us: Little by little.
I totally understand your sister and her buying habits. I've been talking to myself just like she had to stop buying stuff. It can be a real struggle but when you resist, it feels amazing!
Heavens, what a wonderful person your sister is! She takes your gentle guidance with such a great attitude.
Your sister is delightful and has such a good attitude! Keep this series going please!
Your sister is doing very well 4 a first timer declutter
You are such a supportive and nice sister for helping her with this and with such a great attitude with each other.
This was such a great and funny video! Showing how even when tired, you can work a little and it can have a real impact. Watching you two is a treat you have a very sweet relationship.
I enjoy cart shopping too! I don't hoard but I put it in my cart and give myself time to think. 99.99% time it ends up not being bought.
I love your decluttering process. There is no pushing to get rid of everything and your sister maintains control. Best decluttering vlogs I have seen!
Yes because her sister is willing.
Right?!he’s a show stopper 😂
Thank you so much for posting another video this week. They're really getting me through a tough time. ❤ Love to you and your sister
Awwww thank you Kristina! Glad these videos can help in any way!!❤️
Y’all’s relationship is amazing! Thank you I’m a new subscriber and can’t wait to keep binge watching all your videos.
best part of the video is her talking about how her mindset is shifting! So proud of you both!!
p.s. loving all the uploads from you ❤️❤️
Watching you two struggling to find homes for all the stuff is REALLY inspiring my own no buy November. Thanks!
Great tip to time short bursts to declutter. I always dont feel like cleaning/organizing. Bless you for helping your sweet sister with this overwhelming project of getting her house in order.
I feel like I could sit there and chat with your sister for hours. She is so great ❤
You're probably both still tired from the garage project !
You and your sister did great in ur 20 minute no energy sit down declutter 🙂
I say include everyroom in her house as long as she is willing to continue to share .
Becoming more careful acquiring things has been a process but well worth the effort!
well said. i realize that was my gradual process too!! buy return buy return and i hate returns so now i think three times before buying anything!!
@@TheCarlaProject : 🤣 I was on a watch list at TJ Max years ago because of my return problem. I barely ever return anymore!
That will store so many items.
it's been a lot of fun doing this together❤️
It seems that I've been decluttering for years. I need to declutter and organize my creative space.
I can so relate to your sister's spending habits because mine are just like hers. I just recently prayed that God would teach me to be a good steward of my money and so far I'm doing good.
I truly love this series and it is so heartwarming to see how gentle and caring you and your sister are to each other in this very stressful situation.
If you have time for more videos on top of what you already have planned, would love to see how you decorate your place for the holidays (if you decide to) and maybe a DITL video. Love you Carla (and Samson!)
working on ditl vid for this weekend thanks renee!!
XOX Joy
Put the used candles out for neighbours to pick up.if they need.
I just love how you guys crack up laughing
I helped my youngest sister declutter and deep clean her main living areas and basement family room several years ago. It was very hard work, and I constantly had to put my tendency to judge aside. Despite it all, we had a great time. Coffee breaks, dance parties, cocktail hour, unearthing treasures, redesigning beautiful functional spaces. Thank you for bringing me back to better times between us.
congrats to your sister about her thing about clothes x
I'd like to see a follow up on No Spend November.
I love watching you and your sister together.
I think the last four to five minutes were the best part of the video because your sister talked through how she was tempted to buy some things but then she explained why she didn't. I love this series!
Yep some days are like that…Kudos on your 20 minute decluttering….was nice that the delicate pieces have previously decluttered homes.
I am loving this series! I like how you're alternating larger, more daunting projects, like the garage, with smaller, less intimidating tasks like this. Also, I was dying at your subtle reactions to some of the items your sis wanted to keep! 😄
Omg you are doing a fabulous job even though you are so tired 😍 You have a lovely supervisor there🐾 it remind me of our passed pet ❤️
You’re so lucky to have awesome sisterhood. You both make me laugh and I love watching you!
your sister is so open and honest .. she amazes me on how she really wants this and is willing to work hard on it.
Thank you to both you and your sister. So relatable and inspirational💜
I love what you do here!
❤
Please keep this series up!
✨
Your sisters place reminds me so much of my mother in laws. She has a shoppping problem and cannot walk away from a sale. Every single cupboars and drawer and unit is exploding with stuff. None of it is organised or grouped so she endlessly re buys. She reckons she knows everything she has and where it is. She definitely doesnt! She also struggles to throw away anything that could possibly ever be used.
I absolutely love this series too. Sherry, thank you so much for this. You are in very good company and you're helping all of us!!! ❤
OMGosh, I didn’t know that when the computer freezes up ... THAT IS A SIGN! LOL
I work for the former CEO of Tom's of Maine as a housekeeper, beautiful family, beautiful home.😊
This series is real and relatable. Thank you both for sharing this decluttering journey; it is very inspiring!
So sweet to share time with each other and to get a chore done too! spending time together is priceless.
