OMG 19:57 I love that track; 25:59 the flowers and smiley faces are cute along the escalator sides. The insert at 35:13 is impressive seeing them side by side, the buildings are more than futuristic the skyscrapers are phenomenal the landscape is like imposing man made mountains that is saying: strong, power, impressive, grand! 41:33 the sculpture [or whatever it is] it is beautiful, 45:35. I'm in awe and laughing at the same time at 41:39 reading "...occupies 28 square km..." wow impressive. I love seeing the green coloured lights it reminds me of pounamu [jade] which is more valuable than gold for my people means: success, prosperity, strength, power, and it appears to be true is SH. 53:49 the centred round-about is spectacular and though there is the bustle of traffic it appears calm and serene in the centre. China hasn't been "enriched" by diversity like the US or Western Europe. China should import some Haitians or Nigerians for cultural enrichment, then we will see how safe the city is.
If I didn't know Shanghai excisted, I would have thought this was some super-advanced CGI of a futuristic city taking place in year 2100. Asian cities are truly amazing from an European perspective.
I thought the Europeans are not usually big fans of concrete jungle and skyscrapers everywhere? Regardless, IMO what's important is for the Europeans to keep up with technological advancements and new ideas that create better urban living, transportation and quality of life, for as many residents as possible. And avoid modern "slums" and "inner city decay".
Europe also did a good job to preverse traditional architectures. Even though it probably looks not so modern, but it is definitely more modern and developed than some so called modern cities with so many skyscrapers.

I had worked in Shanghai for about 7 years and lived in Minhang, Zhabei and Pudong districts respectively. Love 💕 Shanghai. It’s clean, modern & convenient to travel to other cities domestically & internationally. It has more to offer than we thought. Amazing city 🌃
As a New Yorker, I can confidently admit that this part of Shanghai is far more beautiful and cleaner than any part of NYC. I've never seen or heard of this place because they don't advertise like nyc does... but wow what a hidden gem!
Though Cyberpunk city idea was based on NY (not really on that style in reality if not observing overlakes Brooklyn or Jersey City) The city in China that young people really agree to be Cyberpunk is Chongqing. It is totally different from Shanghai or NY, and truely Cyberpunk.

Wow, as a Norwegian you have really opened my eyes as to how incredibly cool chinese cities are. And the cleanliness is just unthinkable here in Europe.
I used to live and work in downtown shanghai my only regret is that I move back to the states. I really miss it and want to go back to Shanghai. I have also live in Jiangsu Province in nantong as well miss that even more. Nice to see some familiar places still exist.
Man! as a Brit you have captivated me to the most beautiful and most meaningful city in the world. I'll be moving to Wuxi this August but you have inspired me to take weekend trips to Shanghai. Cheers mate.
Wuxi is amazing, not as crowded and overpriced as compared to Shanghai, accommodation is cheap enough to be comfortable, lots of outdoor places, good for living. Shanghai is for fun, nightlife etc, and it’s only a train away from Shanghai. Good choice to live in wuxi
London and New york look just as good as Shanghai but the difference is that London and New york is full of crime and criminals like burglarly, looting, killings, raping, beatings, hate crimes, muggings, gangs, drug dealing, one has lots of stabbing with knifes and the other has lots of shooting and guns and you just hear police cars, amulances and fire trucks engines sirens non stop.

I went back to China and visited Shanghai in 2020, just right before the Covid-19 break out. We live in the 世茂中心 酒店、just right next 痛Shanghai center tower. We lived in 66 floors. Shanghai is so advanced that no any U.S city can compare …

Max, I just can’t get enough of this incredible city. This city will be the new center of world economic power in another decade. It will also be a center of international culture, fine dining etc. You name it and Shanghai will be in the forefront. I can’t wait to visit this place soon but for now these videos are bringing me one step closer. Thanks Max, seeing your travel video is always the highlight of my day.
@HK Chinese Canadian Its one thing to watch in video but its a totally different experience to actually being there. I myself an overseas Chinese from Australia have lived in major cities like Sydney, Singapore, London, Tokyo Seoul NYC and LA and i tell you Shanghai is on a whole other level. I still feel small when i live there. I have bought a home in Shanghai as i will be retiring there with my wife. Once this pandemic ends, i will be living there more permanently and i must say, never felt so at home in my life. Only other place i really enjoy and feel so at home in is Las Vegas but thats a whole different story altogether..lol

I had been to Shanghai last 2016.. and I would say that this is my favorite city.. the night life is so amazing... and the city's skyscrapers are really fantastic... I miss going back there.

I'm blessed to live in this city for almost 5 years. It's been 100% awesome experience and I'm still astonished by how fast Shanghai is growing. It's a comfortable city to live in, with great job opportunities and infrastructure, affordable public transportation system and high level of safety in any neighborhood at any time of day or night. The huge bummer though is the skyrocketing real estate.

This district looks great, and considering the expensive brand shops and security cameras all around it, this area is for a wealthy public. Every modern megapolis has such places, yet the Chinese version impresses with scale and design. Keep showing us more!
Wow! I used to live there in the early 2010s, this brings back a lot of memories. What a wild time it was in this city. I always felt like I was in a movie. Craziest parties, met tons of wonderful people. Shanghai will always be in my heart

Pudong Lujiazhui area was all farmland back when I was in college in Shanghai in the late 70’s and early 80’s. It cost 3 cents RMB to ride the ferry across the Huangpu river to Pudong. Coming back was free because there was absolutely no reason for anyone to not come back in the city. There was nothing there in Pudong, no hotels, no restaurants, only rice fields dotted with farm houses.
Really enjoyed this walk! I remember visiting Shanghai as a little boy with my family in the 80s, we went to see the tallest building at that time, it was the Park Hotel Shanghai which is a 24-story building 😆, since then Shanghai's development really took off and became the epitome of China's leap into the modern world 👏.

This is such a safe and secure environment for children and society as a whole. Compared to the popular cities of the west, this is so much more peaceful and organized. The state does put the welfare of the people first. Contrary to major cities of the west, children are subjected to learning and growth, the streets aren't filled with homeless, drugs and addicts. This really does help a society grow and develop successfully.
Thirty years brought a lot of changes and advancement in this Pudong area. Recollect in the early 1990's Pudong area was still barren, hardly any high rise buildings and started in the process of development from a rural area into a metropolis. Build by China proves its magic power again. Shanghai is not only the biggest city and the financial centre of China, it is also known for its industrial prowness. Shanghai has car manufacturing plant (VW), 2 huge ship yards that produce commercial and naval ships, civilian aircraft manufacturing plant (C919), nuclear power plant equipment and semi-conductor industry. Shanghai also has the world's largest port that handles 40million containers a year. Shanghai's gdp was $608 billion in 2020 and grows at a rate of 7%.
Love the video! As someone living in Shanghai, I have to recommend the parks along the river located near Pudong Avenue railway station. It's a quiet and well-maintained park with skyscrapers surrounding it!
The Oriental Pearl TV Tower looks so pretty lit up against the night sky! It intrigued me because I had not seen or heard of it before. I read a bit about it on Wikipedia then went to the official website where they show photos of what attractions and facilities it has inside it. Wow! It is so futuristic and interesting. I wish I could visit it, and indeed stay in its hotel for a few days.
Remember, China went from a third world country to this within the span of 40 years. It's not because they have a billion people either, as India is lagging far behind China, while China has provided better living standards than the US can provide American citizens. This is a testament of the success of their policies and overall long term direction. They made the wise decision to not follow everything the US demands or advises, as there is an ulterior motive behind those suggestions, the image of 'we're here to help', with the reality of 'we're here to help you stay subservient to us so we remain rich'. The world is so behind right now due to the US's nonstop interventions within countries that most regular folks would never know. I hope China continues to spread this and continues to lead us into the future, because the only future the US would lead us to would either be Wall-E, Idiocracy, or Brave New World.
This is a way to travel from the comfort of the sofa! I'm not able to travel so this is the next best thing. i get to see places in other countries. China is fascinating.

@HK Chinese Canadian Its one thing to watch in video but its a totally different experience to actually being there. I myself an overseas Chinese from Australia have lived in major cities like Sydney, Singapore, London, Tokyo Seoul NYC and LA and i tell you Shanghai is on a whole other level. I still feel small when i live there. I have bought a home in Shanghai as i will be retiring there with my wife. Once this pandemic ends, i will be living there more permanently and i must say, never felt so at home in my life. Only other place i really enjoy and feel so at home in is Las Vegas but thats a whole different story altogether..lol

I'm blessed to live in this city for almost 5 years. It's been 100% awesome experience and I'm still astonished by how fast Shanghai is growing. It's a comfortable city to live in, with great job opportunities and infrastructure, affordable public transportation system and high level of safety in any neighborhood at any time of day or night.
The huge bummer though is the skyrocketing real estate.

Pudong Lujiazhui area was all farmland back when I was in college in Shanghai in the late 70’s and early 80’s. It cost 3 cents RMB to ride the ferry across the Huangpu river to Pudong. Coming back was free because there was absolutely no reason for anyone to not come back in the city. There was nothing there in Pudong, no hotels, no restaurants, only rice fields dotted with farm houses.

I remember visiting Shanghai as a little boy with my family in the 80s, we went to see the tallest building at that time, it was the Park Hotel Shanghai which is a 24-story building 😆, since then Shanghai's development really took off and became the epitome of China's leap into the modern world 👏.

This is such a safe and secure environment for children and society as a whole. Compared to the popular cities of the west, this is so much more peaceful and organized. The state does put the welfare of the people first.
Contrary to major cities of the west, children are subjected to learning and growth, the streets aren't filled with homeless, drugs and addicts. This really does help a society grow and develop successfully.

The Oriental Pearl TV Tower looks so pretty lit up against the night sky! It intrigued me because I had not seen or heard of it before. I read a bit about it on Wikipedia then went to the official website where they show photos of what attractions and facilities it has inside it. Wow! It is so futuristic and interesting. I wish I could visit it, and indeed stay in its hotel for a few days.

Remember, China went from a third world country to this within the span of 40 years. It's not because they have a billion people either, as India is lagging far behind China, while China has provided better living standards than the US can provide American citizens.
This is a testament of the success of their policies and overall long term direction. They made the wise decision to not follow everything the US demands or advises, as there is an ulterior motive behind those suggestions, the image of 'we're here to help', with the reality of 'we're here to help you stay subservient to us so we remain rich'.
The world is so behind right now due to the US's nonstop interventions within countries that most regular folks would never know. I hope China continues to spread this and continues to lead us into the future, because the only future the US would lead us to would either be Wall-E, Idiocracy, or Brave New World.
