The matchless female solo artist SUNMI took a leap forward as a musician by expressing her music with her artistic sensibility through the trilogy project “WARNING” completed by “Gashina”, “Heroine” and “Siren” over the past two years. SUNMI releases a new single “Noir”. New song “Noir” starts with a dreamy intro. If you follow her song as if she’s reciting by watching a noir film, you can fall into her “Noir” by empathizing with her delightful views on the cliché in movies that leads to obvious scenes.

*The metaphor with the heart-shaped candies really got me. She literally shows how some people on social media are literally feeding their self-esteem with those 'candies' and keep themselves 'alive' because they're so obsessed with numbers and popularity. It's really sad.*
changbin's grr omg I didn’t even notice that
Oh didn t think about that thanks
changbin's grr ohhhhhhhhh I was wondering
not some... all of us on social media are programmed to act that way. social media and the way it is designed is the problem. stop blaming and deflecting to others please, it does no one any good. the system is the problem, individuals are just symptoms. the real noir is extreme loneliness in a world more connected than ever,].

I don't think this song just means how fake people are on the internet. I think it also means like they are always smiling and doing things on camera but off camera they are sad and hurting . As sunmi got up she was wearing the shirt that says "unfollow" and hair clips that say "anxiety" i guess this could mean people see what they want to see but it's not enough and people can act happy but really be sad and hurting inside.sneak peek inside of a celebrities life.
And also talks bout what people could do just for likes and views, EVEN kill themselves on a live
I thought it played on her borderline personality disorder too. The image she wanted to keep for her fans vs reality. Maybe the candies she was eating represented medication for that disorder. 🧐
yeah it's always bothered me a bit how much people misinterpret this song/mv. i feel like a lot of mentally ill people can really connect with the message. i really admire sunmi for the way she's able to create such cohesive and creative portrayals of problems that are pretty complex/hard to explain. and it's in a way that's not only digestible to the general public, but also comforting to those going through similar things
@@coral8363 I mean people can interpret a song how they like. The song/video has a different meaning to everyone. To me , it was about social addiction and wanting to be validated to the point where they hurt themselves or do something crazy to get attention.
Right now everyone like this they fake no one is honest
I know this video is supposed to have a deep meaning about social media influencers and self-degradation
*But why is Sunmi so beautiful????*

Rather ironically, your comment getting well over 100,000 likes really confirms and reinforces the entire point of Sunmi making this video and song in the first place.

I just realized why her eating the tomatoes would fit this concept and be considered deadly. The tomatoes are on a plate that is seemingly made out of lead, a very dangerous substance to ingest. Tomatoes will actually absorb the lead from the plate making them deadly if eaten. (I don't remember the term that was used to describe this.) This whole thing is a call back to the past when people thought the tomato was dangerous since people supposedly "died" because of it, when it was actually the lead plates the tomatoes were on. This level of detail, especially since it's rooted in history, is amazing.
Thats so cool woah

The social criticism in this MV is very strong and necessary. SUNMI is very talented, she deserves more recognition!!!

The messages in the MV aren't even subliminal, they're pretty obvious. I don't know why people find it hard to understand. She's literally portraying how far one can go for attention on social media and how they lose themselves in the process.
Lmao ikr. It's not that deep tbh. What you see is what she's trying to convey.

changbin's grr yes oh my god preach!!!!!!!!
This song is basically about how people would literally do anything to get the perfect posts and likes on their posts and attention from people on social media and IRL as well and end up losing themselves or getting in trouble or hurting themselves or even dying in the process it looks so bright and happy in the MV but in reality, it's so dark and sad and it has a deeper meaning when you really think about it it also has another similar meaning of Idols having to go through this kind of thing as well that's why it has a double meaning lol XD!~ 👀😱😱😱😱😭🥺💔💔💔💔
yah that's absolutely done with that meaning!! thank u for information!
This song and MV is severely underrated
Fr
It's really cool how the producer of this mv was able to work in a lot of darker imagery while keeping the majority of the video bright and colorful. The contrast of bright and innocent looking colors with the darker meaning and concepts is really awesome and honestly brilliant. 10/10
I feel like that's adds that creepy touch to it. She looks adorable, sexy, and lifeless. She is doing all of these things that put her life at risk. The brightness could be a representation of the persona that she puts on for everyone.
Like Russian roulette by red velvet 😌
The amazing part is that: this is actually how it is in life. We always talk about "dark" things (for example, gothic) as if it is a bad influence, but people who show their life in the most perfect way without being sincere are the most toxic ones. Is not even about the intention, is just how psychology works. People avoid dark people like hell saying "its too much negativity, it makes me uncomfortable", but while acting as if they have the perfect life they are being suffocated by this fake happiness. I guess its something like "too much positivity". Maybe because you don't expect it to be bad, you can fall deeper in it. Or maybe is because closing your eyes to problems don't make them go away? Well, no matter what. Is great to see such an up to date art.
I totally agree! Brilliant!! I love her and I love this team too. Great done everyone!

I think that Sunmi is talking about the Noir of our century - people doing anything and everything, including life threatening things, just for the sake of likes and followers/subscribers, it talks about how people are addicted to the artificial sense of approval and them willing to risk their life for it. This is a very strong topic and i am proud of Sunmi for talking about this and i am proud to be a fan of her!💞💖💓 Sunmi fighting! 💜💛💞 (not even talking about how an absolute bop is the song itself tho, i love the 90s vibe sm!)

Genuine question : why did this flop? This is an incredible song and not really a change of style for Sunmi, so it was right there for her fans to enjoy. And it came out right after her immense success with Siren, she was set up for success. Why did it chart so low in Korea?
probably because it wasn’t promoted on music shows, she only performed it once i think
@@idaruigowon aww okay makes sense
Opacó el debut de un grupo de una empresa, tocó numero 1 en todos los charts excepto en una plataforma

She's eating mini hearts. Like the ones you get from Instagram, Vlive and other social platforms.
She's feeding on them. The hearts.

*The message of this music video is so powerful. That's the sad reality but she created art through those situations taken from real-life.*
changbin's grr yes you are right
the message in this mv is so deep. people do stupid things just to be famous. it really shows the reality today.
Says noir as she’s in different bright sets wearing bright flashy outfits. Constantly hurting herself while trying to get followers and likes. Social media isn’t as bright as we’d like to think it’s actually dark and there’s a whole world behind the photo or video. Important message and personally one of my favourite song of hers
This song was ahead of its time
in sirens music video a lot of people bullshited sunmi because she sneezed in her bare hands, and in 0:49 she picks up a paper and sneeze on it. queen
Wow, people today are really perfectionist.. like, that sneeze part in siren is sudden and no tissue was near her.. it is more harmful to hold back sneezes
...What the hell. Bashed because of a sneeze? People need to find something better to do.
I didn’t know this, people are so dumb xd it literally was acting a part of the MV, it wasn’t even a real sneez and people complained? I’m losing my faith in humanity...

Ana Luísa why does she even sneeze 😂
*Sunmi talked about a problem that it's tightly connected with today's society and I'm glad she expressed her thoughts about it in an artistic way. Hope this song will be a wake up call for some people.*
Can we all silently agree Sunmi is the best female soloist in kpop? Thank you 4 being honest.
This is literally one of the best Korean songs out there, the meaning is amazing. So much meaning put into a song representing the entertainment industry, and what celebrities and even normal people do to simply “stick out,” including dangerous activities which could harm them. But it’s all for the followers and likes, but is it really worth it at the end?
im pretty sure the message behind this mv is that social media harms your mental health.
like you see how densensitised she looks through the whole song, even in extreme situations such as the cake and the car setting on fire.
it also highlights how much harm people can potentially cause to themselves, mentally and even physically, just for the likes, follows and all around social media clout (the knife game and then you see a chopped finger later on in the mv).
i also adore the references to a bunch of trends in this like going live all the time, the ice bucket challenge, the finger knife game challenge, the heart shaped pill shots that look like health sponsors and ads etc
anyways stan a woke goddess 🤘😔😤
The hearts remind me of ppl feeding off likes or doinf things for clout
yes! the ice bucket challenge was initially for a good cause/awareness but it started being used for clout... this is definitely calling to cell phone addiction and unhealthy use of social media. social media doesn't start becoming unhealthy unless you start using it as an escape for your problems, similarly to alcohol addiction- this parallels sunmi's reaction to any dangers seen in the mv, as well as her weighing likes and dislikes over her own safety
It could have done with a suicide warning...
꧁alicia꧂ no its about people making themselves look ridiculous for likes.

I just started getting into Sunmi because everything about her screams amazing. From looks to perspectives that she does with her songs. And to be honest this is actually really scary on how this is such a good depiction of how things are right now. It's how people do anything for views or acting like they are actually happy when they aren't. It just shows the reality that we are in. And the century we are in. People will do anything for views and clout now in days. Sunmi is such a good artist. I have always stanned her but I am diving more deeply into her music and personality. She is not afraid to show what she stans and does not stan for. I respect her a lot as a human and a celebrity. She truly is underrated.

I feel like this MV is about how people see trauma and tragedy on the internet as entertainment for them; entertainers/influencers are pressured to share any and all gnarly details about their life to be seen as “genuine” and to give viewers the “connection” they want, but then viewers and “fans” turn around and demand more or do not handle the trauma correctly. This is a great way to talk about parasocial relationships that fans have with celebrities and how people consume trauma p*rn and think they are being compassionate while they watch someone break down very publicly.
I really like that Sunmi chose to go with this concept. These days people don’t even care about having talent, they just want recognition/to be famous and they are willing to do anything to get attention. Sunni is an aesthetic queen 👑
This also reminds me of the song Doctor by Chunmina! You should check it out cause not only is it a high key bop, it does have a similar message about social media 😁
She is queen but not underrated though.
She is not underrated at all. But that's true solo artists can concentrate more on the music they like and they have the oppurtunity to express themselves. Other in groups they focus on what the public likes to make profit.

Sunmi is one of those artists who never release a bad song.
And every concept she slays.
Even though the years pass by, this song is still perfect.
I love this song so much. The undertone of the instrumental and the way it's pitched gives this song such a distorted and unsettling atmosphere, and obviously the glitched voice clips as well during the song. The instrumental goes in different pitches which makes the song have a feeling of being off. The way that the mv is portrayed and also how Sunmi is singing, and the lyrics also gives that sense of feeling. Sunmi's delivery is on point. The way she sings has this sense of being tragic. She puts her soul into every word and you can really feel the way she's expressing the character in this mv. There's so much thought put into this song and mv, and you can clearly tell. Sunmi's genius is always a level beyond
I will never not be impressed by Sunmi. I just simply adore her. She is world class. She just has IT. She is the best soloist in Kpop period. She puts western artists to shame. Love her so much ugh.

This mv carries such a beautiful social commentary.
This MV is brilliant.
I don't know exactly what the lyrics are (yet) but the MV perfectly shows how people on SNS are willing to do whatever it takes to be in the spotlight, to garner attention, to be talked about whether positively or negatively, it doesn't matter as long as they are the topic of the hour.
Whether by doing extreme and dangerous things or by exaggerating their own "sob story" or by marketing a fabricated one to gain people's compassion and affection, some people are willing go to that extent to become "famous". They "fake it, to make it". They get "blinded" by the fame and "high" at the attention they are receiving that they are willing to do whatever it takes to keep it. Whatever it takes, to the extent of faking their own posts, of showing their followers an ideal, perfect life, that isn't remotely close to their own.
This is the dark (noir) side of SNS, where people hide behind well thought of personas to attract the attention of the public and believe it or not it works. Whether you hate them or like them, they are succeeding in creating buzz for themselves.
Again I'm not talking about all of the influencers on SNS.
But you have to keep in mind that, not all that is shown to you is real.

Sunmi is one of the artist who always surprise me with her style and the meaning behind the song. Not many artist do this so thank you for this.
HER BEST SONGGGG
Sunmi is one of the most underrated pop artists in my opinion. Her songs are bomb but more then that she has this unique spookiness to her.
Gashina: Milkshake
Heroine: Smoothie
Siren: Glass of water
Noir: *ALS bucket challenge*
Where is 보름달
Full moon!! 맞나요?
Where is the ice bucket
Banana after that 'Juice' hahaha 😂😉
Full moon: blood
I think she talks about the sad Truth about social media in general like how people does whatever they can to get some likes and views on their social media regardless of their health.... And that's exactly what she is showing in the mv and lyrics..

Pick the Champion Song of this week~! (for global fans)
Excellent Excellent Excellent. I'm just discovering how good Sunmi is, and this is her best, I think. Great song and video. Excellent!
This is still my favourite sunmi song and mv
I love that she is making a parody of all the challenges on internet and talk about how empty are the people. She laughed about the backet challenge and don't judge challenge and others. She's so cool and underrated
You don't know Sunmi, she's really famous, why you Judge people underrated 😏
@@old_kpoperz8295 In Corea sh's famous, but in the rest of the world no. It's sad because she deserved more
@@leticiahebeotermin7005 almost all kpop in the world must know sunmi-gashina, she is quite well-known by international fans, and my country she is quite famous so it doesn't need to be worried
Actually she's not as underrated as you think she is. She's very famous and well known in Korea, kind of like digimon (digital monster) IU. She's been doing well since her Wonder Girl days. Anyone into K-pop knows her, if not they have their head buried into just one group and aren't really considered K-pop fans.
I live in Melbourne, Australia and heaps of my friends find Gashina iconic. She is just a star!
she just described 21st century, that's all. stan the right queen.
Under 4 mins, wonderful isn't she?
This song was responsible for introducing me to the world of Sunmi, and kpop in general!
As most of us know this song is about how extreme people can go for frame and money but, I added more to it. People go these extremes for frame and money so they can continue to live and satisfy themselves. The reason why I think this is because people forget being an influencer is A JOB. This is how they make their money to live. That attention they get pays influencers rent. I think that this person sunmi is portraying is someone who has a more expensive way of living which is why she goes to the extreme for these things. I get this from the ending when she was walking out. The way she was dressed and the that bag made her seem like a person who has more money. Now this doesn't really affect the message I'm getting its just giving more of a look to who sunmi is portraying.
NOW THIS IS JUST A CONNECTION I MADE. I have no clue if this is intentional or something she thought of I just thought the outfit represented something that may or may not be intentional.
THE STORY (This is just basically repeating what I and others said):
An influencer Is hungry for fame and money because she has a more rich life style and needs to live.so she goes to these extreme actions to get her money and fame because this is her only source of income.
sunmi said "society" before the joker
Peepee get a whole load of this society
The Joker exists WAAAAAAY before she was even born lol
Alexandra Hernández sunmi could beat the shit out of that old hag
@@peepee7970 no
@@peepee7970 ok boomer
In my opinion this MV represents the current situation of our generation regarding social media. The heart candies represents the recognition (likes, hearts from instagram) and it became an addiction (PILLS = Drugs). To sustain the addiction some people will do the extrme even tho that it can cost harm like the tide pods challenge.
Edit: Noir means a genre of crime film or fiction characterized by cynicism, fatalism, and moral ambiguity.
I agree there's even the iced bucket challenge at 3:12
This is so true
Woah this is so accurate
Up!

so, a lot of people say this is about the toxic side of social media, which i think it's true, but i have another theory... this looks at the lyrics of the song.
it sounds a lot like a breakup song if you don't look at the video.
this couple are no longer in love, but they are still together anyway. why? because they may not like each other but they don't want to be alone at the end of it all. so they keep each other for company, despite the fact they don't want each other's company.
they fake their happiness in front of other people, but at the same time they want people to know they don't want each other anymore. they obviously act around peers, like as if they want people to talk about their failing relationship behind their backs... and this is all just for attention.
sunmi however gets tired and wants to drop the act, so she's asking the other person to let her go, to let it all go. to just stop and let's move on with our lives without irritating each other.
they are in this "noir", this darkness, a black hole. they are trapped in this darkness and can't see the light, can't see the way out of it.
it's kind of like post malone's "circle"... they are in this cycle of pain and anger and acts and they can't stop the circle. but sunmi has found a way to stop it, it just requires the other person to agree and help stop the circle too. but they won't... it's like they love the attention and wants to stay in the darkness.
also in parts where she says "i've already seen this before", it's like she's seen such failing relationships with friends and family, in tv shows/movies, so how on earth did she not see the red flags and stop herself from getting herself into this mess in the first place? why did she not learn from other's mistakes?
i hope this makes sense!!
wow I loved this..kind of creepy yet realistic
