i know why Hwasa is singing about Shim Cheong in this song. It's about how a certain person in life doesn't know that someone at least needs they're own space once in a life time. It's like they're BLIND of not knowing what Hwasa is going thru in life. That explains the story of Shim Cheong, which was a classic Korean novel back in the day. Shim Cheong sacrificed her own life to give her dad's eyesight back. Because her dad was BLIND all this time. And that also explains why people in Hwasa's life are blind and not knowing what she actually goes thru in life.

While he was crossing the bridge, he fell into the river. “Help me, I’m drowning,” he shouted in panic.
A monk passing by saw him and jumped into the river to save him. “Are you okay?” asked the monk. He was surprised that he was blind.
The monk advised him, “If you offer Buddha three hundred seoks of rice, you will regain your eyesight.”
Shim Cheong’s father was very glad to hear the news, so he promised to give Buddha three hundred seoks of rice. Soon he realized that he could not afford to buy all the rice.
When Shim Cheong came home, she saw her father looking very sad. “What’s wrong, father?” she asked.
He told her everything that happened and what the monk had said.
“Don’t worry, father,” Shim Cheong reassured him, “I’ll try to get all the rice.”
One day, a woman said to Shim Cheong, “Did you hear the news? Some sailors want to buy a girl for an offering to the Sea-God. They will pay as much as she wants.” When Shim Cheong heard that, she knew where she could get the money to buy 300 seoks of rice.
Shim Cheong went to see the sailors who wanted to buy a girl and asked them to buy her. “I need 300 seoks of rice for my father to regain his eyesight,” Shim Cheong explained.
The sailors bought Shim Cheong and were amazed at her and said, “She is the most filial daughter in the world.”
Finally the day came when she had to leave. “Father, today I’m going to be the Kang family’s step-daughter,” she lied to her father. “To adopt me, they will give three hundred seoks of rice to the temple. Then, you will be able to see again.”
“That’s great! I won’t be a blind man anymore!” her father said happily.
Now, Shim Cheong was on the boat with the sailors. After sailing for several days, the ship reached a deep part of the sea. Suddenly, a strong wind rose and the sea roared. So the sailors wanted Shim Cheong to jump into the roaring sea to be the sacrifice. When she woke up under the sea, she heard beautiful music. She had no idea where she was. “Am I dead or alive?” Shim Cheong said to herself.
At that moment, she heard a voice saying, “Wake up, now. This is the sea palace. The Sea King was touched by your story. He sent me to save you.”
Shim Cheong stayed at the Sea King’s palace for a few days. One day, a maid came to Shim Cheong. “The Sea King has ordered that you return to land,” she said. Shim Cheong was put into a big lotus blossom. Finally, the lotus blossom floated to the surface.
The sailors who bought Shim Cheong found the lotus blossom. It was spotted at the same place where Shim Cheong had jumped into the sea. The sailors were surprised and lifted it out of the sea to bring it to their king. When the king touched the blossom, suddenly it opened and a beautiful girl walked out. The king loved her very much and made her his queen.
As the king’s wife, Shim Cheong’s life was very happy, but she could not forget her father. One day, the king found Shim Cheong looking very sad.
“Why are you so sad?” he asked. “Please tell me.”
Shim Cheong told him the whole story. After the king heard her story, he wanted to help her to find her father. So he threw a party for all blind people in the country.
Meanwhile, Shim Cheong’s father was still blind despite the offering of 300 seoks of rice. He heard from other people in the village what Shim Cheong did for him to regain his eyesight. He regretted the loss of his daughter.
One day, a neighbor informed Shim Cheong’s father that the king prepared a party for blind people.
When the party began, Shim Cheong was looking for her father. But she could not find him. On the last day of the party, Shim Cheong was just about to give up hope. Then, she saw a tired and shabby old man enter the palace. She was overjoyed when she found her father. She ran to him.
“Father, I’m Shim Cheong, your daughter!” she cried.
“My daughter?” said the surprised old man.
“Is it a dream? Let me look at your face!” At that moment a miracle happened. The old man opened his eyes!
The king was so pleased to see his wife and her father reunited. He ordered the party to be continued for another week. And all the people cheered.
Shim Cheong and her father lived happily ever after.

after several hours, what i was able to understand from this mv and song is that:
hwasa wants her lover to focus on themself because she wants them to care for themself as much as they care for her. she ignores her lover whenever they show too much concern for her because that's her way of telling them to think of themself more often instead of her.
OR hwasa has kind of a 'tsundere' personality and is always rude to her lover even though she loves them. hwasa eventually gets annoyed at no matter how rude she is, they never leave her alone or get fed up with her.
but in the end, we can see her lover leaving her. now one of the two things happened.
either her lover misunderstood her and thought that she didn't love them anymore.
or her lover realized that there were too many differences between them for them to ever be in a peaceful relationship.

A song that put my feelings into the lyrics lmao...From my perspective i will say how i interpreted it immediately: The guy only looks at her, thinks she is the world, literally has never experienced another girl or understood love etc. He is an idiot for her to the point of being blind, which is annoying. It comes across as fake and easy. He doesn't realize that she is not blindly fantasizing about their love in the same way, and that her attention isn't all on him bc she has a LIFE like he SHOULD HAVE A LIFE. The song is about a relationship where one person neglect themselves for the sake ot the other party. Not only about lovers, but also friends and family.
In MV she's talking about a guy whose only interest is her. He belittle himself and praise Hwasa, he makes her "hero and a genius" but she doesn't feel that it's true so it becames suffocating (that's why she's in a plastic wrap). She's intentionally ignoring him hoping that he will start looking at other things but in the end she is hurting too because of that.
She's singing "baby you're the sky" which means that inside he's vast and limitless and he should expand his interests.
She's a queen but she doesn't want a servant, she wants a relationship on an equal standing.
I'm not sure about the ending tho, I think he listened to her and left in order to find his happiness but also she made her lonely. Well that doesn't mean that they broke up, they could just take a break then get together again but with more healthy mindset.
So the message imo is to pursue your own happiness and stop being obsessed about the other person in order to build a healthy relationship.
I think a lot of people nowadays are like that, especially mothers, they neglect their own happiness for the sake of family, but in the end that's not making anyone happy. There's a lot of people who get's "addicted" to their partner too and when they leave they become miserable.

As for black and white Hwasa, it might represent her good and bad sides and inner conflict, white= side that loves her partner and wants the best for him and black = side of her that ends up using him and wants to keep him by her side.
In the scene with tree, the birds are attached to the tree (Hwasa) and she's reaching to it like she would want it to fly away/take it off the tree. Then in shot on 2:28 we no longer see the bird, it might symbolize her making a decision to "free him" from herself.

Sonia In Korea, one of the main beauty standards is to be thin. To the point that some females will walk around looking physically like sticks. Hwasa has always ignored this, and she always flaunts her beautiful curves and never lets other people’s comments get to her.
Secondly, her skin is slightly darker than others, which is not something typically sought after in Korea. But again, she doesn’t apply makeup to make her look lighter or whatever else. She’s just confident in who she is and how she looks.
When they first debuted, netizens started to hate on Hwasa and said she was ugly and should leave the group. Some of the comments were incredibly hurtful, and just because Hwasa’s got a unique but still beautiful face. Even when the comments got really bad, she ignored them and carried on being just as confident on stage, making the point that just because people say mean things, it doesn’t mean she’s going to stop being who she is.
from one perspective this video is about a toxic relationship, but from another perspective the entire mv is basically bashing and making fun of these standards and she’s proving her point that you don’t have to fit them to be beautiful.

So she composed, wrote the lyrics, and choreographed the whole thing? Oh my god she's the real deal I swear. I've already read some analysis about the song and gosh if it isn't such a complex one! Not many artists highlighted this toxic part of a relationship, especially not from the perspective of the 'object' of obsession/intense affection (we probably only know Mariah Carey's Obsessed lol). The way she talks about how it suffocates and frustrates her because she realizes that she's holding HIM back from finding his own happiness (outside of loving her). The song really has a deep, complicated message. I love the imagery and symbolism used in the MV too, they're all so stunning! Especially that one scene where she stands above the man wearing all black, indicating that she's mourning inside despite having him wrapped around her fingers. (Also don't get me started on the WheeSa part I literally shrieked lol)

I love how mamamoo take “simple” concepts and make them much bigger and complex. A Korean RUclipsr talked about this in a reaction to Mamamoos windflower and talked about how most artists talk about things in a pretty 2D manner. They either talked about sadness or happiness after a break up, but mamamoo talked about both, the happiness and sadness that your fighting with after a breakup, and he mentioned he’d never really seen that before. Here I see the same thing. She talks about the complexity of a relationship where someone’s obsessed with you and you like it, but you also acknowledge it’s bad cause you’re not that great of a person and it’s hurting your partner. You don’t take pleasure in their hurt cause it hurts you as well. It’s all really deep, and the symbolism through out the song makes it a lot deeper. I feel like you can’t appreciate the song as much unless you know the great lyrics, ugh Hwasa 😭💕
