We only use Harbor Freight tools at the job site. If you show up with anything else you’re getting booed and going straight to the back of the line for the daily ice cream social. I’ll make sure there aren't any sprinkles left for you.
The nail files are made for the job. for fine bits of styrene sanding, I got a cheap electric toothbruch and cut the bristles off the attachments and glued on some emery cloth, of varying grits to each attachment. one of the attachments, I glued a piece of styrene about 1/2 an inch square and glued emery cloth to that to make a slightly bigger pad.
My two cents, if you have the STL for the body you can create a buck for the sandpaper. Just trace along the most common edges you need to work on and then give it a block area behind it. Then you can just wrap the sandpaper around the buck after it's in place and use that as the guide. You do need to take into account the thickness of the sandpaper so that you don't change the body too much. But it has worked for me in the past.
I have been slowly working on a body I 3D printed. Should have tried a higher resolution, but now I know for the next one. I have been really cautious with the power sander because of heat like you said. I picked up a Diablo sanding block kit that uses sanding nets instead of paper from the hardware store last night so I will be curious to see how that works/lasts compared to regular paper. This is really a sanding hobby, everything else seems secondary. 😁
"Like if I do a crew cab conversion" You know, maybe you should give that a go. Perhaps an Fms Chevy? With a camper shell? And I think it would look cool in blue.
I own a bunch of “Red” brand tools, which I like a lot, but every time someone says “ Milwaukee “ I’m immediately seeing Alice Cooper talking to Wayne and Garth!😂
these bodys loook so good i ordered a mini body off etsy an looks nothijng like this. how can i get it to look this good? My print is black an idk if its PLA or what
I've used those before too but that's advanced stuff. Next video. Actually, if you look back on my loaf of bread shaped Jeep van build I use them in the build video.
@@turksandjerps probably not something you'd want to admit to on the pages of the RUclipss but do you ever do any prints for people? Like, for a guy who may not have a 3D printer but would probably like a Tacoma body made? Asking for a friend.
Milwaukee?! The best tools are from Harbor Freight, and I WILL FIGHT YOU IF YOU THINK OTHERWISE because it attacks my fragile male ego.

I like that idea
Sanding is fun. It’s amazing what you can print now days. Thanks for sharing 🙃🙃👍🏻👍🏻
Crazy to think how far it has come in a relatively short time

My method for sanding, oscilating sander, low grit at first and just nuke it, then high grit same tool. Then finish off with hand tools.
I like that

Red is better than yellow! 😁 good tips! 👍
Mix them together and you get orange

Haha yes, the main hobby is sanding. Getting to drive little trucks is secondary.

That sounds weird and definitely not something I'd be interested in or capable of.

Purple power is good stuff use it to strip chrome.
It is, I keep a bucket full of it just for stripping paint. I found it doesn’t work on some chrome so I resort to oven cleaner.
@@turksandjerps yeah it works well on traxxas chrome. However the chrome that came with my hard body bronco body I bought it won’t strip.

It’s probably PLA, most common. Sanding is the key to success.
The way you worked ‘up’ your tool box, I am surprised you didn’t whip out the belt sander and disc grinder…..
I've used those before too but that's advanced stuff. Next video. Actually, if you look back on my loaf of bread shaped Jeep van build I use them in the build video.
So your telling me that the angle grinder I’ve been using creates to much heat? This does explain a lot
I may or may not have used an angle grinder with a flap disc on a body before.

I use tong depressors and Velcro .....but the nail file is bust to get it do..
Also a handy tool
Awesome

Have you ever tried using a Card Scraper?
No but that probably would work in some instances

heh heh heh. It was a 4Runner, link is in description. Will hopefully start that build this winter

@@VermontScaleCustoms No, I don't. I don't even like listening to the printer while doing my own prints. Small house problems.
