I praise the Lord for the testimony that brother Voddie has, my testimony is way out there, I say all the time, it takes all kinds. Brother Voddie is not trying to discourage anyone who has an inflated testimony, he is encouraging those who may falsely believe they don't. If you accepted Christ as a 5 year old in Sunday school...praise the Lord! If you were like me and came the scenic route...praise the Lord! We all were saved by the same blood, we just accepted it through different circumstances!
That’s me too, I took the scenic route lol. My testimony is out there and very profound, but I realized that the he details of the scenic route weren’t the important part. The important part is that I realized I’m a sinner in need of a Saviour, and that it’s the same message that’s been preached for 2000 years that cut to my heart and soul. The only thing with me is I was so stubborn that it took me that much longer to accept. But all the Glory be to the Lord Jesus Christ 🙏🏽✝️
I wouldn't call any testimony inflated, if what they are telling is the truth. What is "inflated" about God working in a life, whether raised in a Christian home, or saved from the gutter? All testimonies are worth listening to, providing their salvation = Christ plus nothing else.
I always say, my testimony will change the way you look at me, because of where I came from, but where would my testimony be if I lied to make myself look better to you. When you a delivered from demonic oppression, alcoholism, porn addiction, etc. through prayer, is it not a testimony? it is good to acknowledge that salvation is the greatest testimony, but we should not tarnish other forms of testimony.
I have a testimony, and I will not inflate it. Just truth.. My father was a terrible man, he was a drunk, and he beat us often. My mom was scared to death of him, but she would try to protect me from him, which only caused her to get beaten as well. When I was five, mom and I were eating breakfast, when she called for him to come to breakfast, because it was getting cold. He mumbled a few words and told her to stick it in the oven to keep it warm. Fifteen minutes later he got out of bed and came into the kitchen. He went to the stove, pulled out the plate of fried eggs and bacon, and I heard him say this s**t is cold, and flung the plate against the wall.. He moved behind mom, who was sitting at the table. He still had the fork in his hand, and as he drove it deep into her neck, she screamed his name. I recall another time he got his gun, and told me to come with him to the barn. When we got there he pointed out our little dog over in a corner, she just had puppies and was nursing them. He looked at me and said.. Son, this is what you do with useless things. He shot them and made me watch. This was my childhood. When I was seven, my mother finally found the courage to divorce him, and we moved in with my grandmother. She was a wonderful person, full of love, and she loved the Lord. She took me to church every Sunday, and she told me all about Jesus. With her help and the help of others, I felt Christ tugging at my heart, and I accepted Christ as my Lord and Saviour. Now, it's 20 yrs later, and I get a call from my mom one day. She begins to tell me that my father is very ill and expected to die. She explained to me, she had given it a great deal of thought, and came to the conclusion that I should go and visit him in the hospital. I became enraged with hate, and asked how she could suggest such a thing. I asked, have you forgotten all the terrible things he did, how he abused us. That phone call ended with mom asking me to just think about it. Over the next couple days, I couldn't get it off my mind. So, I began to pray about it, and in that moment I realized that all that hate I was holding onto wasn't hurting my father, it was eating me alive. I asked God to take the hate from my heart, just take it Lord. Immediately it left me and I felt a great weight lifted from me. That night I prepared to go to the hospital where he was, and I was absolutely sure, I was going to get the apology my father owed me for all those hateful and hurtful things he had done to me yrs before. I arrived at the hospital and walked into his room.. but the hard man I had known all those yrs before wasn't there. There was only this old feeble looking white haired guy laying there. He knew me right off, and said.. Well, I never expected to see you here. We talked for a couple hours and an apology was made and accepted. As I was preparing to leave, he said that he was scared to die. Instantly, I knew without a doubt why the Lord had moved me to visit him. I asked him if he knew Christ, and he said no. He said he felt like he had been such a terrible person over his life that he didn't deserve salvation. I explained to him that we are all sinners and have fallen short of the glory of God, but he sent his only son so we could have salvation through the blood of Jesus. I stayed with him a little longer, but he remained unmoved, and I finally returned home to my family. It was a couple days later when my aunt called to let me know he had passed, that he had asked her to call me, but he passed while she was attempting to reach me at work that day. A few days later I was at his funeral, and met a local clergyman who routinely visited the sick at the local hospital, and would be presiding over the service. As he began to speak about my father, there were no false words of what a great guy he was, but mostly how his visits went with my father while he was in the hospital. And then he said.. Damon talked about how very bad a person he had been to those he should have loved. How he didn't love God like he should have. But, I want you all to know, on the night before he passed, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Saviour.
What does he mean inflated testimony? I thought Christian’s were supposed to share their stories and witness the holy the spirit to others ? No shame in how other people came to Christ , whether some glorious story or not , it all matters . Amen
