As always, great review, Kyle! The Fox Body Mustang still looks pretty good to this date. It is amazing to see the evolution of the Ford Mustang over the years! From one car enthusiast to another, keep up the great work.👍🏽
DriveAndBeDriven this thing has an aggressive sounding exhaust beautiful car definitely a time capsule like he said that thing is in Immaculate condition even the engine which I can guarantee probably has a few years on it as well
@@mojostephen No.... That would be the Mustang II. The Fox looks like a real performance car, even though it's unapologetic with its 80's chic. Besides, do you think that all Mustangs have to look similar to the 1965 model to be considered a "real" Mustang? Because, I honestly feel like this obsession with its past has held the Mustang back and prevented it from continuing to meet the original design intent laid out by Lee Iacocca.
mastapasta. I owned one of these back in 2001 during my senior year of HS.. Myne was Full burgundy with a 3 inch cowl hood and the 5 star chrome ponys.. Also had a basic flow master exaust that sounded amazing! It was def one the cleanest foxes in my area and pll atill to this day ask me about it. Not to mention it was actually really reliable. Never had many problems w it except for having to rebuild the trans once. But yea man, i highly suggest you get one IF you can find a clean one that hasnt been abused. Thats the sad thing with these cars. They eventually ended up in tge wrong hands and typically end up wrapped around trees etc. But good luck man. You have great taste in cars👌
By 1992 these Fox "stangs were outdated by Celicas, and Z cars. The body style would have to carry on for another year. Still, today I'd rather own my '92 LX 5.0 5 speed convertible than any of the more modern competiton from back in the day...
back then, this car represented the "return of the musclecar", THAT is why they were so iconic; nothing could stand up to them at the time, and they had a huge aftermarket to make them really go. You could here them coming with that throaty sound right from the factory; nothing else sounded like that then. Drag racers went for the LX notchback since they were lighter.
Honda Accord guy 05 I can't hold the camera steady enough on certain vehicles so I do it this way now. It looks better... if you want to see the cluster, watch for it later in the video with the sound clips.
Thanks for this Kyle, I owed an 86 4 cylinder, my friends 89 hatchback V-8, 5 speed, and now I have a 2002 convertible V-8 5 speed, and the real kicker is, I never really liked Mustangs, until my friend owned the 89.
What a great car with a wonderful color option! Earlier today I just test drove a 1992 F-150 with 146,000 miles on it. It was a great trip down memory lane. My first car was a 78 Ford Granada and my second was a 88 Thunderbird 5.0L sport. I'm thinking of going back to that era of vehicle and get rid of my C300 Mercedes.
no, they are junky, electric cars will make all gassers scrap metal very soon as they will be banned...a collectible car is a very low production car or exotic and most of the people who make them collectible are morons
I remember really wanting a 1987+ Fox Body Mustang GT 5.0 after watching the great movie "Twins" in 1988 when I was only 9 years old. In the movie, it was a 1987 or 1988 GT 5.0 convertible with an automatic, but I fell in love with the looks and especially sound of that 5.0 - In the Spring of 2003 at age 24, I finally bought the car I had desperately wanted since 1988... A Mustang GT 5.0! It was a mint condition with only 55k documented miles on it, -1991 Mustang GT 5.0 Hatchback 5-speed manual from the original owner who was in his 50s and took great care of his car. He had and gave me all the paperwork for the maintenance & the performance parts installed. He even gave me the original window sticker! It was years ago, but the main mods it had was...A 5.0 Cobra Intake Manifold. Two Chamber American Thunder Flowmaster exhaust system... He had the lower rear bumper cut perfectly, so the exhaust came through to show off it's dual exhaust. It also had Shorty Headers... I don't remember the brand? It also had upgraded 3.55 gears. Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch & Centerforce lighter weight vs stock, - Billet Steel Flywheel. A Hurst Shifter. Underdrive Pulleys... Steada, I think? MSD Ignition, March Ram Air -Cold Air Induction. Custom 93 octane racing tune - on a dyno. 155 lph Fuel Pump. Optima battery. There were many other upgrades, but this would take forever to list it all - Plus I forgot some of the stuff. Anway, I only owned it for about 11 months before a huge Deer ran in front of my car at night on an unlit area of highway where I was going about 55 mph in a 60 zone because it was so dark. It absolutely destroyed my beautiful Mustang. I wasn't injured, thankfully, but the Mustang was a total loss. To this day, I'm so upset about this! I wanted to keep that 5.0 for the rest of my life... What a shame. Freaking Deer! I told the original owner, and he felt so bad for me because he knew how much I loved this car. I kept it mint and drove it civilized 99% of the time. I only got on it every once in a while. Sorry for this super long comment. Wow 😆
Friend’s mom had one of these in mid 90’s I was 15/16 years old and the sound was amazing and like nothing else at the time. I’d love to buy one of these one day. Convertible though, just like the one we would drive in.
I owned two simultaneously. An '85 5spd carbureted GT and '91 5spd fuel injected LX. Fast, reliable and fun! The best cars I ever owned! I wish I had never let them go!
"I had the dope ride and I was sitting on some bullshit...I needed some rims bad and I knew just how to get em. I sure in hell wasn't goin to pay for them either." Definitely one of my fav scenes in cinema history
Bought a new 1984 GT, thirty days after I took delivery got his head on by a drunk who was on the wrong side of a divided highway, car had $7000.00 in damage in 1984 money and I had to have plastic surgery twice. If it weren't for the fact it was built so well for the time I would not have survived. Bought a 1965 2+2 with 34000 original miles and factory A/C a year or two later, only drove that car sometimes because of the low mileage and kept it for eleven years. In 1987 when they redesigned the Mustang I fell in love with it and ordered a 1987 GT. That was a great car, took it on a 1000 mile trip the first week I had it and had a blast. Beat the hell out of a squeaky, rattle prone Camaro or Firebird of the time.
Thanks for this review. You reminded me again that fox bodies arent rolling trash cans (since 99% of them i see are rolling trashcans that havnt been taken care of at all). Its so clean!!!
this video makes me happy to own mine. i have the exact same car without the sunroof. mine has 120k miles and looks exactly like this one in and out. so i know mine was well kept its whole life
Love the Fox body 5.0s. I wanted one of these or an iroc Z so bad in high school ! When I see a fox 5.0 I always think of the song “ice , ice baby “. Lol
This brings back memories. Throw on a pair of Flowmasters and exhaust dumps and your set for the early 90s. I wish Ford would bring back that green for the current Mustangs.
I've been looking for a review of the fox body Mustang and BOY!!! did you ever deliver!!! Best review of any car I've seen. Excellent job and you have a new sub. Thanks...
What a really great video! Good work. I rarely watch a longer video to the end, but this one I did. That sweet exhaust was the vehicle sound of half of the guys at the University of North Alabama in the early 90s when I was there. Mine was the LX, but I think the GTs look better.
When I was teen, that was the car to have. I always wanted one. An later in life I finally got mine. A GT that looked a like that one. Still easy to work on. Unlike a more modern one. Easy to mod also. Brakes were barely adequate stock. All these years later still a great platform for a cheap drag car.
I would love to own that. What a privilege to have such a beautiful piece of Ford history. Probably the biggest fox fan here..lol Had an 89 lx, had to sell but miss it.
I remember looking at a brand new 5.0 LX notchback, Reef Blue, back in 1992 or 93'. The MSRP was just shy of 14k and I remember thinking back then that it was a lot of car (and performance) for the money. It's nice to see that there are still some clean Mustangs from that era still around...
I seriously love these cars. Had a '89 GT Hatch that I regret letting go of. If I can find a clean one like that around where I live I might have to scoop it up.
I used to daily drive an '89 LX Hatchback 5.0 auto. It was a great car, and I still own it, but nowadays I daily a 1997 Tbird LX. That is a stupidly clean fox and I LOVE the colors that one has especially seeing as how dark green is my favorite color.
Loved your video. I owned a 92 Ford Mustang gt. Same one shown here...but mine was red exterior a s red interior. I miss it so much. From Winnipeg and if anyone reads this and has one, please let's go for a ride.
After this review I can see why Ford Australia never tried importing these to Australia. The XR-8 Falcon here would have killed it on handling, looks and specs. That said a beautifully preserved example and a great review of one. Whoever owned this car, it was clearly their pride and joy. Hopefully whoever buys it, appreciates that its lasted this long and gives it similar attention.
Wow that's a really clean foxbody. I've had mine for 18 years and it's pretty clean, but that one looks basically new! Mine is twilight blue/silver two tone convertible GT.
Great video. I like how you focused on letting us hear the exhaust note which is one of the most important aspects of a car review video. Also this color combination has always been one of my favorites. This car was featured in the 1993 film Menace to Society. Well done.
My bucket list car would be first generation Chrysler Concorde which my grandmother had with everything in it and it was a car I loved to ride around in and look at all of the options and being fascinated by everything.
I had a 1992 LX Hatchback - Emerald Green - it went 200,000 miles then I sold it - still factory clutch. Great car, loved it, except for the alternator - it went through many of them. I guess it would be considered slow compared to a 2020 Mustang GT, but I liked it - it had character.
Bucket list car? Man am I old. This was my daily driver for 11 years. Mine was an.88 LX manual. It had 175,000 miles on the clutch when it's notoriously bad brakes couldn't stop me fast enough in a traffic sudden stop. The metal fatigue was terrible on these cars. They twisted like a flxible flyer bus as the car got older. And the front geometry wore the insides of the tires horribly. But with the quad shocks in the back it could attack twisties, especially sweepers, better than it had a right to and it's "GT" ( grand tourismo) abilities to drive all day at high speeds without breaking a sweat where legendary. Mine got 30mpg if you kept it below 65 mph. Most people only care about 0-60 but this car was so much more. It was the last Mustang pony car. My 2016 is a pig compared to the 88. Miss the 88 alot. If you get one, convert the rear brakes to disks, install the geometry fix for the front and put the X brace under neath and the car is good for almost ever.
Great review!! I always loved these mustangs with the V8 motor. Although compared to the Japanese sports cars of the same era they were not as refined or modern looking . Although they were more affordable.
Brought back memories of taking out a 5.0 Mercury Capri with MT. The salesman did not know how to drive a MT. He sat in the back seat. I was driving and my brother was riding shot gun. I think I scared him. I can still remember the pull and the sound of that motor.......I think it was 30 years ago now.......
As always, great review, Kyle! The Fox Body Mustang still looks pretty good to this date. It is amazing to see the evolution of the Ford Mustang over the years! From one car enthusiast to another, keep up the great work.👍🏽

Silas McGee, I have to agree with you! This one is in excellent condition for it's age.

Tyson Tollstrup, That's awesome!

who else loves these older car reviews?
I do.

Best mustang ever in my opinion....
Definitely man
No matter how good the new Mustangs get I will forever be in love with the Fox Mustang!
Same here. About to get another fox!
That's one clean fox.
Warren262 amen
Warren262 Yes It looks absolutely clean really clean.
It sure is wow!
These are one of thee most tuned vehicles on the planet. So seeing a stock production GT has become something special.
The sound if that start up is exactly why I love this car
Fox body is easily my favorite mustang. Just love them.
The foxbody is my favorite body style mustang of all time I really enjoyed this review
Although I do like the Fox design, to me, it is the least "Mustang looking" car of all the generations...
@@mojostephen No.... That would be the Mustang II. The Fox looks like a real performance car, even though it's unapologetic with its 80's chic. Kyle you have no idea how long I've waited for you to do a fox body. I absolutely love these!
I'm planning on getting a 90-92 for college it's just hard to find a clean one where I live.
mastapasta He did another one about 5 years ago
He did one in 2010 but it was a convertible and an automatic. Not to mention his production quality was much lower than it is now.

No ABS, no traction control, no stability control. Made me smile and also brought a lot of memories that made me tear up!

Oh the memories. I had two of these some 20 years ago. That's a really clean example you drove. Thanks for sharing.
Gotta love 'em fox bodie! Kyle, I hope you can do more of these older cars. The nostalgia feeling is really good on these kind of reviews
back then, this car represented the "return of the musclecar", THAT is why they were so iconic; nothing could stand up to them at the time, and they had a huge aftermarket to make them really go. My favorite Mustang, you did a great job with all the details.
Great review Kyle. I'm British & even i have a soft spot for a Fox Body, they're an important car for the American market.
wow, so clean. what a time capsule.
I wish he would the inside start up view the way he used to were you could see the gauge cluster

@@bigSchwaG92 damn, how did those Mustangs get on my driveway?
Andre, wouldn’t know based on how much bs you talk
Back to your roots man. These are the kinds of cars that made your channel what it is today. Hope to see more neat cars from the past!
I've owned many foxbodys and all were very, very modified and that is the only way I would ever drive a fox body
This looks really nice for its age, Mustangs are valuable to me
Tristian Lent Well then you should buy it. Low low price of only $18,000.

By far the best OEM exhaust ever
turshin 02-04 GT didn't sound to bad either with the huge head they put on in 02-04 but it was the 4.6L. Stock and it sounds mean still.
I own a 1991 mustang gt and I love it. It has become my daily.
Very clean Mustang thats for sure. High quality video as always Kyle. Responsive v8 engine and nice exhaust note.
This car is super strong and fast and built strong to last
Man, gotta love the sound of that 5.0 V8 when she winds up.
Dream car when I was a teenager in the 90's, not so much anymore, but still have some nostalgia there.
It's funny how all this aero looking cladding on the GT actually increased drag compared to the LX
The rear bumper is actually the problem. Side skirts didn’t affect it. The Cobra has a different rear bumper, but the same drag as an LX model.
"I had the dope ride and I was sitting on some bullshit...I needed some rims bad and I knew just how to get em. I sure in hell wasn't goin to pay for them either."

Great review Kyle. Have you thought about doing a review on a F body Camaro
Saabkyle you are my favourite youtuber cause I like cars so much and you make great reviews of cars. I love you so much.
Can you do the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Limited, the 2018 Lincoln Navigator Black Label, and the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee TrackHawk?

Its really cool seeing a car review done on the backroads that me and my highschool friends grew up on.
I've always preferred the LX coupe, that Windsor V-8 still sounds amazing even 25 years later.

These cars sound amazing. When I am driving and see one on the road, I turn my radio down to listen to The exhaust.

If you get one, convert the rear brakes to disks, install the geometry fix for the front and put the X brace under neath and the car is good for almost ever.
For people that don't know the factory tachs are off 500 rpm at readline. Shift at 6000 on the tach, because the cam signs off at 5500.
Can you do a review on a Subaru wrx (bug eye)?
I have a 1992 mustang lx notchback 5.0 I find it's the nicest design during the 3rd generation mustang
