    I has gas cars for 20 years. Changed plugs annually, never altered the gap, never had a problem. Got a diesel now....

    30 years ago I bought plugs gapped at 60 for my 84 mustang. Lost all high end power. Flame was blowing out. Gapped at 35 picked power back up. It made a difference

    • @JimSix-jo6hf
      @JimSix-jo6hf 13 дней назад

      you must have had a spark arcing from a wire somewhere, yes a smaller gap will turn that into a non problem, I was working at a Cadillac dealer in the 80s when GM tried .080 gap plugs misfires every day, the fix was .060 plugs

    • @bigmike2971
      @bigmike2971 13 дней назад

      @@JimSix-jo6hf no. It was just the gap alone

    • @motoracerchris
      @motoracerchris 13 дней назад

      .060 will fire on a lot of things, especially the hei. However, it basically eats ignition components like the coil and can overwork the module as well due to the voltage requirements. .040 to .045 is the sweet spot for a lot of ignition systems. Naturally aspirated of course. Motors with some “power adders” do better with like .035 to not blow out the spark.

    Nice job Kenny, once again. When you showed us that plug the first time, the first thing that came to my mind was it was blowing oil. I'm with you on that, the rings. They make products you can use to try and clean and free them up, but it's a long shot. On the old rides I would use an oil burning plug or just a hotter spark plug and keep going. I also was going to comment on these wire covers or whatever you call them. Can't they think of something better? Geech, how many years have they used that failing product. Engineers, don't get me started.

    I agree about spark plug gap, it is more important to have the electrode square and flat so the spark is not always in the same place, also different brands may have a different gap for the same application, just look at them for damage and leave them alone

  • @JettaJack
    @JettaJack 13 дней назад +1

    The concern over the gap is a hold over from non-computer controlled ignitions and non-fuel injection engines. No longer an issue as you state.

    The S10s,S10 Blazers,GMC Jimmys and Sonomas with the 4.3,go through the wheel well too changing plugs in.The passenger side are easy to get to.The middle one on the drivers side,steering shaft in the way either unbolting the steering shaft or the steering box.I keep an old boot off a plug wire as a spark plug starter starting the plugs in the hole

    If the plug gap was not important, the manufacturer would not cite a specification. It's like saying the tire inflation isnt important

    Most auto trans problems are usually not auto trans problems. It often comes down to a bad sensor or engine performance issues.

    Kenny love your videos,But I have a question for you . Why do the head lights go off when you turn on your blinker? On the new cars .I was driving at night and came up to this car that was going to turn in front of me , and it would of been easier to see them if the light wound have stayed on.

    • @legionofanon

      If its one side, its so you can see the indicator without the headlight washing it out. I kinda like the, what i call, winking headlight for turn signals. Now if both go out for a turn signal, theres a wiring or computer issue.
