I also think these boards are great for close commutes or just grabbing some things around town. Never have to worry about flats. It's a bit less comfortable than pneumatics but honestly not bad at all. I do agree with you that this is an all terrain board and not really an off road board. I know a lot of people tend to use these terms interchangeably but even though this can handle some grass, rocks and dirt, it shouldn't be something you take off-roading on trails on purpose.
Range is a bit off-putting but at barely 700 bucks that's not really much to complain about. This definitely seems like a good short commute board if you live in an area with bad roads. I'd skip a bus ride here and there if I could ride something like this for a few miles each way to work and back, maybe leave the car at home more often

I was very interested until you mentioned the range! I typically do a minimum of 8 miles when I ride. Looks perfect for a short commuter though.
