So, sad story time. A really close friend of mine used to sing this to me after my house burnt down to cheer me up. But it will get better if you make it. :) Always smile. :D I love you all, and I hope you all have a wonderful day/night. Cheers all.
This isn’t about her, the song is a folk song! :) In the show she is still related to the earth pony family and is not adopted by them they are her biological family :))

I've seen so much drama about how "gypsy" is a slur and people going so far as to make a cover without it. After some googling I've found out that gypsy is a kind of pony. Yes gypsy can be used as a slur if used negatively and also gypsy is a race/Ethnicity. If I've gotten anything wrong please correct me.^^
Don't forget others like gypsy moths. There's a decent amount of species variations that have gypsy in their names. Though I cannot confirm anything else you've said is wrong due to not having done much research at all, I do find the drama a bit frivolous.
@@WeeWoo_2 same, I really think it depends on the context since there is not just one use for it (as previously mentioned, a type of horse, moth, race, but also can be use offensively)
@@confetti3503 It can be used in a derogatory way, but it can also be used for other things. I think I should have put that I'm aware of it being a slur.
What I get from this song is: Pinkie pie had spiritual witchy beginnings and her village was set ablaze. She survived and she was brought to a orphanage. They told her to leave her past back and buried her past in a thousand holes as in her village. She ‘cut a rug with orphan foals’ as in she danced away her past trying to fit in with the others. She saw her parents get mangled and made a song for them but her memories are obscured and can’t remember much
A very long time ago. I heard this song playing in an old RUclips video and I loved it but I didn't know the name.. I heard it referenced and sang in so many videos.. And one night I found this! I spent the entire night memorizing this song and now I can sing it by heart so.. Thanks
Meaning of some lyrics: “ A galloping blaze overtook my city “ Her home was set on fire “ Ditch those roots if u wanna fit in “ Forget about your past if u wanna fit in “ And so i dug one thousand holes, and cut a rug with orphan foals “ She dug holes and for the orphans that died she buried them. “ and your loved ones have been mangled “ Her parents died in the fire.
the line "you're a toy maker's creation trapped inside a crystal ball" has been stuck in my head for years.........and somehow it took me until the age of 21 to realize she is breaking the 4th wall in the most ominous way possible
Anyone else come back to this song now that they’re grown and just put it on full blast to cope with the reality of adult life being absolute garbage? There’s just something really comforting about it, ya know?
to those who are asking "what does she mean when she says "cut a rug with orphan foals"?" either -She Dug 999 holes for graves of the dead foals she used for rugs in which were she cuts out their fur and make rugs out of them to escape -Danced with them edit: yo it's been 2 fucking years tf u doing just replying to this comment 2 years l8r lmfao. ya'll can do what you want but I was just joking with this comment when I made it, I knew she danced with the foals
When your rife with devastation, There's a simple explanation: You're a toymaker's creation Trapped inside a crystal ball. And whichever way he tilts it, Know that we will stay resilient. We won't let them break our spirits As we sing our silly song! When I was a little filly, A galloping blaze overtook my city. So they shipped me off to the orphanage, Said, "Ditch those roots if you wanna fit in." So I dug one thousand holes, And cut a rug with orphan foals. Now memories are blurred, And their faces are obscured, But I still know the words to this song. When you've bungled all your bangles, And you loved ones have been mangled, Listen to the jingle jangle of my gypsy tambourine. Cause these chords are hypnotizing, And the whole world's harmonizing. So please children stop your crying And just sing along with me!

Dude I’m just now realizing how dark this song really is. When your loved ones have been mangled. Her biological parents were probably killed when the city was attacked.
@@impact122xI know it's late, but it's implied that the galloping blaze is referencing other ponies burning the witches, which Pinkie is in the series
I used to listen to this back when I couldn’t speak English… Oh gosh… This is the first time I actually understand the lyrics. Thanks RUclips recommendation! I never would’ve come back to this song on my own! X)
This reminds me of an OC of mine in a little story of mine Like this could basically explain her entire thing She litteraly said "I can't remember a lot of the people I met, but I do remember the things they told me" The reason she is happy and upbeat is because, as is common in real life, her brain forgot her trauma to protect herself
To clear something up, the word g*psy in this context is not a slur in the definition that this song is using it basically just describes people that live in traveling homes. - this song is not from the actual show it's from a parody of MLP called Friendship is Witchcraft so this is not apart of actual Pinkie Pie's backstory. - the term "Cut a rug" does not mean killing and stuff it means dancing ya'll been reading to many Pinkamena stories. Thats all I just wanted to clear stuff up about this song that I seen alot of people in the comment section talking about thats *really* bugging me.
Right? Thank you! Not to mention that I have literally never seen or heard that word used as an insult. EVER. How is it a slur? Not just in this context but nearly any context? I don't get it.
This song describes my friends life. When she was a baby her parents died and her aunt put her in an adoption center where she spent 90% of her time with the little kids she has been adopted and is extremely happy. This song makes me think of her.
When your rife with devastation There’s a simple explanation Your a toy makers creation Trapped inside a crystal ball And which ever way he tilts it Know that we must be resilient We won’t let them break out spirits As we sing our silly song When I was a little filly A galloping faze overtook my city So they shipped me off to the orphanage Said “ditch those roots if you wanna fit in” So I dug one thousand holes and dug a hole with orphan foals Now memories are blurred and their faces are obscured But I still know the words to this song When you bungled all your bangles And your loved ones have been mangled Listen to this jingle jangle Of my *g slur* tambourine But these chords are hypnotising And the whole worlds harmonizing So please children stop your crying And just sing a long with me
the actual theory behind the song is how pinkie pie used to be either a slave or didnt have a bery good life- idk if this is 100% correct but the g-word in the title of this song is actually a slur for those who have been set free from being slaves or those who had a horrible life. like how pinkie pie was an orphan and had to follow this mans instructions until she was finally adopted. so the song setting is where pinkie pie sings about her past so children who have also been set free. she tries to cheer up the kids im guessing to continue in life. (im so sorry if im off but this is just my own theory, i read a little bit about the g-word slur and made some guesses. correct me if im wrong.)
I have not interacted with the MLP fandom since I was young, so hearing an upbeat song about keeping your identity in the face of forced cultural assimilation with (a now romani-coded) pinkie pie was fucking wild
my favorite character is pinkie, even if shes pretty dark. now i wonder why. mlp ponies ressetted. fluttershy is my fav pony now. *when you realise that fluttershy is voiced by the same person*
painfully aware it’s really not though, multiple real Gypsies made their own videos saying like “It’s not mean or a bad word” as well as Gypsy is also a type of horse (which is the context of the song lyrics)
Eliza Conley I’ve literally seen like 20 people on TikTok who were real Gypsy’s and they said it was totally fine and not a racist term, shut the fuck up and get educated :)

I’ve done it. I’ve officially learned this on the guitar.
when you bungle all your bangles and your love ones have mangled that's the most creepy part of the song
and “their faces are obscured”
Instruments I hear:
Tambourine (playing REALLY softly)
Ukele
Guitar
Drums
Xylophone
You can hear the tambourine better if you speed it up to 2x
G*psy isn't an ethnicity, it's a derogatory term for Romani
@@confetti3503 It can be used in a derogatory way, but it can also be used for other things. I think I should have put that I'm aware of it being a slur.

*But i still know the words to this song.*
What I get from this song is:
Pinkie pie had spiritual witchy beginnings and her village was set ablaze.
Thanks

Meaning of some lyrics:
“ A galloping blaze overtook my city “
Her home was set on fire
“ Ditch those roots if u wanna fit in “
Forget about your past if u wanna fit in
“ And so i dug one thousand holes, and cut a rug with orphan foals “
She dug holes and for the orphans that died she buried them.
“ and your loved ones have been mangled “
Her parents died in the fire.

She dug a thousand holes to bury the dead bodies in her whole city. And "cut a rug" means dancing with the other orphans.

everybody is gangters until Pinkie Pie's hair turn into straight
Its been 5 years and this is still slaps
When your rife with devastation,
There's a simple explanation:
You're a toymaker's creation
Trapped inside a crystal ball.
And whichever way he tilts it,
Know that we will stay resilient.
We won't let them break our spirits
As we sing our silly song!
When I was a little filly,
A galloping blaze overtook my city.
So they shipped me off to the orphanage,
Said, "Ditch those roots if you wanna fit in."
So I dug one thousand holes,
And cut a rug with orphan foals.
Now memories are blurred,
And their faces are obscured,
But I still know the words to this song.

And you loved ones have been mangled,
Listen to the jingle jangle of my gypsy tambourine.

Dude I’m just now realizing how dark this song really is. When your loved ones have been mangled. Her biological parents were probably killed when the city was attacked.
There was no city being attacked, they burned her house down killing her parents (that's what the "galloping blaze took my city" means)
@@impact122xI know it's late, but it's implied that the galloping blaze is referencing other ponies burning the witches, which Pinkie is in the series
I love her way of pronunciation
For sure, this is the best song.

Thanks RUclips recommendation! I never would’ve come back to this song on my own! X)
This reminds me of an OC of mine in a little story of mine
Like this could basically explain her entire thing
She litteraly said "I can't remember a lot of the people I met, but I do remember the things they told me"
The reason she is happy and upbeat is because, as is common in real life, her brain forgot her trauma to protect herself
We have a similar oc backstory :O
The fact that this was made and sung by Jenny Nicholson is blowing my mind
The transition at the start make me remember the old youtube MLP speedpaints
AFTER YEARS I STILL LIVE THIS IT NEVER GETS OLD
this is the best song ever
To clear something up, the word g*psy in this context is not a slur in the definition that this song is using it basically just describes people that live in traveling homes.
- this song is not from the actual show it's from a parody of MLP called Friendship is Witchcraft so this is not apart of actual Pinkie Pie's backstory.
- the term "Cut a rug" does not mean killing and stuff it means dancing ya'll been reading to many Pinkamena stories.
Thats all I just wanted to clear stuff up about this song that I seen alot of people in the comment section talking about thats *really* bugging me.
thank you, finally someone who understands-

@@vivianayoung8296 Umm I am not really sure 🤔

To cut a rug means to dance. She danced with the orphans.

Nah white American girls
the actual theory behind the song is how pinkie pie used to be either a slave or didnt have a bery good life- idk if this is 100% correct but the g-word in the title of this song is actually a slur for those who have been set free from being slaves or those who had a horrible life. like how pinkie pie was an orphan and had to follow this mans instructions until she was finally adopted. so the song setting is where pinkie pie sings about her past so children who have also been set free. she tries to cheer up the kids im guessing to continue in life. (im so sorry if im off but this is just my own theory, i read a little bit about the g-word slur and made some guesses. correct me if im wrong.)
Yeah, it is about gypsies I think. Well, that's what ive heard. Some lyrics make me think of us romani people, and how we were mocked n such
saranghaeyo ; Yeah, exactly
g***y isnt a slur for freed slaves, its a slur for Romani people

The fact people actually thought Gypsy was a bad word to use on TikTok 💀💀
And they're still going on about it like🙄 if anything it's just offensive
painfully aware it’s really not though, multiple real Gypsies made their own videos saying like “It’s not mean or a bad word” as well as Gypsy is also a type of horse (which is the context of the song lyrics)
