Amelia, I used to sew a lot but after a long bout of depression I lost my confidence. Watching yours and others vlogs for a year or so I have decided to go to a sewing class and get my sewjo back. Thank you for your inspiration x. Clare from windy Wellington
Thank you so much Clare for your lovely comment. I am so sorry to hear about your battle with depression and so glad you have been enjoying lots of sewing videos. I really hope you enjoy going back to your sewing class. Thanks for watching! x
Hi Amelia, I really enjoyed your vlog! The merino wool from New Zealand is precious fabric. I have made a few items from a merino nylon blend from the same store, great to work with and to wear. I love the top with the merino and the gorgeous sleeves and the fun stripes on the t shirt. Such thoughtful placement and use of your fabrics. I think Whitney from TomKat stitchery the same sweater for her daughter from some merino as well but in a different color! Such a rich and vibrant sewing global sewing community we have access to thanks to all of the people like you that share their creativity!!! 😊
Thank you so much for your lovely comment Scarlet. It is so wonderful to be part of such a great sewing community! I think I need to make a few more garments from the merino as it was so lovely to sew and I am loving wearing it too!
Great video with excellent details and thoughts about the patterns. I wouldn’t want a cropped top that short so would definitely scrutinize the pattern prior to making to decide how long I’d actually want it. That fabric does look wonderful. I think my favorite was the sweetie dress. It’s absolutely gorgeous and perfect for a little lady who knows her mind! ☺️😉. I’m impressed and inspired by your frugality with fabric and finding clever ways to use every scrap to its fullest. I never seem to have leftovers that play nice with each other. 😂. Thanks for such an informative & inspiring video! You bounced back with a vengeance.😊
Thank you so much for your lovely comment Mary Ellen! I adored making the sweetie dress for my daughter and she loves to wear it, so that is so lovely. Thank you for watching!
Thank you for another lovely video I thought your black top with the different material used for the sleeves was absolutely beautiful and your daughters little dress was so pretty .
I love the Forget- me-not top with those puff sleeves. It’s beautiful! It’s so adorable how your daughter asked for a sweetie dress. 😍 the dress is very cute!
I love watching your videos. This one did not disappoint. I loved the sweetie dress, as well as your peplum blouse plus the knit top with those amazing organza sleeves is just to die for. The new tee shirt pattern also looks interesting, and I loved how you played with the stripes.
The sweetie dress is so cute! So funny when kiddos know EXACTLY what they want. My February sewing was a mixed bag too, and you're absolutely right that we can't get it right all the time.
Isn't it so fun when they have strong opinions about what they want? I love it so much! I think I definitely have to learn not to be disheartened when makes don't go to plan. We can't get it right all the time! Thanks so much for watching Bri.
Love everything as always. The black t with tulle sleeves looks stunning on you. Definitely going to buy and make periwinkle dress. I am just back from UK. I taught two of my grandchildren age 8 and 4 to knit and they love it, they can’t stop. I bought size 8 mm needles and aran weight colour changing yarn. I will be getting a serious light, eyes aren’t what they used to be. Xxx
Thank you so much Jenni. I adore the merino t-shirt, I am so glad I could get that out of my scraps! I hope you really enjoyed your trip, how lovely that you taught your grand daughters to knit. My grandmother taught me at a similar age, and it is one of my most precious memories of her.
I love your play with stripes on the French Navy Tarifa Tee! I ordered the pattern & some beautiful olive/white striped fabric to follow your lead. Thank you for your inspiration!
Thank you for another wonderful vlog! I, too, have been dealing with some sewing fails lately (trying to get the hang of sewing pants), so it's nice to know that this happens to lots of people. And, I have a lovely piece of stripped knit fabric that I've been wondering what to do with. Now, I'll be buying the French Navy Tarifa Tee - what a great pattern, and I'll definitely be copying your strip placement - it's so lovely.
Thanks for sharing all your makes! Your little girl is so lucky to have such a sweet and clever mum ☺️ I LOVE your top with the sheere puff sleeves! That fabric is stunning! I’ve had my grandkids (ages 6, 8 and 10) here for a couple of days and they have been sewing little stuffed pillows by hand, so nice to see them learn. I’m a firm believer that kids need to work with their hands and train their patience not just get quick satisfaction from their mobiles or TV. I also helped out mending jeans with worn out knees (a grandma’s duty 😉) For my small business I’ve tried out a pattern for a hipster (or bum) bag and it worked out really good so now I will get going sewing some more to sell.
Thank you so much for your comment Eva. I love sewing for my children and this month's dress was such fun! I love that you are encouraging your grandchildren to sew, they will make such precious memories doing that with you!
Loved your creativity with the tule. Thankyou Thankyou for the chapters. Ooh newcraft top. Lovely. I nearly made? ? A popover placket dress but alas the placket pieces I cut out 4 times and was unhappy and unsuccessful with them. Grrrrr. So I gave up. The fabric was one which frayed and frayed, and in part, this was unhelpful in the process. So I cut it up and it’s now cut up as a sagebrush top which I’m hoping will be more successful. I’m also sewing a palate cleanser of a pattern I’ve used before. Fingers crossed So impressed with your sewing remnants of remnants. Bravo and beautiful. Delightful and stylish little dress.
Thank you so much for your lovely comment Jan and I am glad you found the chapters useful. It is so frustrating sewing with a fabric that frays - I am hoping you are enjoying your new sagebrush top now though! Thank you for watching.
So much great info and tips here! I have a ready to wear dress that resembles the peony patterns dress. I’m thinking of shortening it now that I’ve seen it shorter… thanks again!
Lovely makes! I appreciate your honesty reviewing the Know Me cardigan. I do see the difference with the red cardigan you made and the fit looks much better. I so enjoy your videos. Everything you make you do with much love and enjoyment! I’ve only ever sewed the big 4 patterns but I’m ready to try some of the other patterns thanks to your videos. Love the dress you made your daughter, so cute. Looking forward to your next video.👗🧵🪡🥰
Thank you so much Sharon! I really enjoy sewing and sharing my makes here on RUclips, so it is lovely to hear you enjoy watching the videos too! I hope you enjoy trying some Indie patterns!
I love the top you’re wearing. I’m a pear too and don’t love the look of peplum tops on me but I do like the look of that top. Also, shame that the black cardigan turned out so cropped. I was going to suggest about giving it a deeper hem band but I guess you can’t do that as you’ve made a top with it - which I love too 😊
Thank you Noelia! I don't usually love a peplum, but this one works so beautifully! I did wonder about a deeper hem band...I will have to see what remnants of my remnants are left!
I just purchased this pattern for the skirt. It has come out way larger than the size on the pattern. I am glad you thought that as well. It is disappointing. I enjoyed your pattern review. 😀
I have a long torso also and I'm forever second guessing how much length to add for different style effects. I love the jersey and tulle sleeve mash up, a great way to use lovely remnants.
Thank you Natalie! It is always hard to know how much to lengthen cropped garments. It was fun to play around with the remnants, and I was so happy that it turned out to be a wearable garment in the end!
Look forward to your videos all week! I love the black shirt with the sheer, embroidered sleeves, but you reference a bomber jacket you made with that fabric that I can’t find in your playlist. Did I miss it?
Amelia, Thank you for the video. It was wonderful, as usual. Concerning the cropped cardigan... It's a shame that it came out too short. It is so nice. It looks like you already used the scraps from the project already...I was going to suggest that you add a ruffled band on the bottom to add length. But, as I said, it's too late. Suzanne
Thank you Suzanne, I am glad you enjoyed it! I did wonder about adding length to the sweater, but with the button band around the opening, I wasn't sure how it would look. A ruffle sounds like a good idea though - I will think about that!
thank you for the recommendation for Peony patterns :) my little lady had just turned 5 and I've been looking for recommendations for practical everyday clothes for her :) x
I am so glad you liked the Peony Patterns suggestion. They have lovely clothes for little girls. Below the Kowhai is another pattern company I love for girls clothes too.
Love the everyday T-shirt, it’s deflating when a garment doesn’t turn out as we expected, I’ve been sewing with knits too…..but boy do I have problems with the buttonholes on my pffaf…..any tips would be appreciated. Thank you
Sorry about the Know Me pattern, the designers usually model there patterns, so she was probably rather petite. I really liked all of your other makes. Go girl go! Happy Sewing!
Thank you - I like a lot of things about it, but I think because of the way it is constructed, it would be hard to add a band at the end unfortunately. Thank you for the suggestion though - it would be so nice to extend the length somehow!
Yes - that does sound a little confusing! I really like the look of the pattern - I just wish the big 4 would include more finished measurements, and I'm not sure their block fits me very well. But I love the style/design of the cardigan!
Amelia, I used to sew a lot but after a long bout of depression I lost my confidence. Watching yours and others vlogs for a year or so I have decided to go to a sewing class and get my sewjo back. Thank you for your inspiration x. Clare from windy Wellington

Such a lovely twirly dress for your daughter, not surprised she wants to wear it all the time.
Thank you! It is a favourite dress of hers for sure!
Love all of your makes especially the sweetie dress xx
I love the marriage of your black merino wool and the sparkly tulle. Fabulous Iris tee hack
Thank you Carolyn. It was lots of fun putting that oms together!
Your top is beautiful! I love the contrast of the black merino with the dainty puffed sleeves 🌺
Thank you so much Suzanne! I am so pleased with how that one turned out!
I adore your Marino t shirt and those sleeves. WOW gorgeous. Oh the sweetie dress 🙌❤️💙💜😂
Thank you Sarah! Those were such fun garments to make!
Thank you for another lovely video I thought your black top with the different material used for the sleeves was absolutely beautiful and your daughters little dress was so pretty .
Thank you so much Sue. I can't wait for the weather to warm up so I can wear my new t-shirt!
The next top after the cardigan is gorgeous
Thank you!
This video was so nice to watch. I love the way you express yourself and explain everything. You mention every pattern, every fabric. Kudos to you!!
Thank you so much for your lovely comment Melissa. I am so glad you enjoyed the video!
I love the Forget- me-not top with those puff sleeves. It’s beautiful! It’s so adorable how your daughter asked for a sweetie dress. 😍 the dress is very cute!
Thank you so much Maureen. I love making clothes for my daughter, so it was lovely that she wanted me to make this for her.
I love watching your videos. This one did not disappoint. I loved the sweetie dress, as well as your peplum blouse plus the knit top with those amazing organza sleeves is just to die for. The new tee shirt pattern also looks interesting, and I loved how you played with the stripes.
Thank you Marion. I am so glad you enjoyed the video. I really enjoyed playing with the stripes on the tarifa tee. It was a lovely one to make.

Great video very enjoyable your daughters dress is beautiful no wonder she loves it
Thank you Robyn! She really does love her dress, especially the pockets!
Artsy fun top....so nice 😊
The Everday top is absolutely gorgeous on you! The colour is beautiful and you look so happy wearing it!
Thank you so much. I am so happy with it and the colour is so bright and cheerful, I can't help but feel happy wearing it!
The tarifa tee has gone straight on the list! It looks so great with stripes!!
Thank you! I absolutely adored making this one. I think I need one in a red stripe now too! 😂

Thank you for your inspiring so well explained sewing experiences. The 'sweetie' dress story was lovely. 🍬🍬🍬

Nothing like making a garment the same from mummy and daughter 😍 sweetie dress gorgeous 👍
It was fun making matching sweaters. Now we need to wear them together!
Love you striped-jersey t shirt. So cute on you.

Gorgeous makes as always Amelia. Shame about the know me cardigan but we live and learn.
Thank you Annette. It is a shame, but I am hoping it will get some wear in the spring.
I can’t decide what I like more! So many wonderful makes Amelia. Happy Monday.
Thank you so much Loriann, that is very kind of you!
Wow, I love the blouse with the toulle sleeves! 💞
Thank you! I was so pleased with how that one came out.

Thank you Clara! I love that t-shirt too! I made the jacket back in November and it is in my 'Recent Makes and Favourites' video from December 2022. 😊

Thank you Bridget. It is such a pretty style, so I am hoping it will get some wear. Thanks for watching!
thank you for the recommendation for Peony patterns :) my little lady had just turned 5 and I've been looking for recommendations for practical everyday clothes for her :) x
I am so glad you liked the Peony Patterns suggestion. They have lovely clothes for little girls. Below the Kowhai is another pattern company I love for girls clothes too.
Your Iris T hack and the little peony dress were awesome! Your little girl must be tickled pink with it! Pardon the pun! 😀
Thank you Lynn! I love how the t-shirt turned out and it is so fun to see how much my daughter loves her dress. Thanks for watching!
Love the everyday T-shirt, it’s deflating when a garment doesn’t turn out as we expected, I’ve been sewing with knits too…..but boy do I have problems with the buttonholes on my pffaf…..any tips would be appreciated. Thank you
Thank you Margaret! I have been having buttonhole issues with my Pfaff this week too!! If I work out any tips, I will certainly share them!
I need a sweetie dress 🦖
Me too!
Sorry about the Know Me pattern, the designers usually model there patterns, so she was probably rather petite. I really liked all of your other makes. Go girl go! Happy Sewing!
Thank you Marcia!
Could you add a band to the bottom of the black cardi? I think it’s really lovely apart from the length.
Thank you - I like a lot of things about it, but I think because of the way it is constructed, it would be hard to add a band at the end unfortunately. Thank you for the suggestion though - it would be so nice to extend the length somehow!
@@sewamelia I’m a beginner so I’m sure you know much better than me about these things. It still looks cute though.
I really liked your merino tshirt, it suits you very much 💎🌟
The sweety dress is perfect.🍭🍬
Im Looking for nice girls patterns. Thankyou
Thank you so much! I love the merino t-shirt too! I love Below the Kowhai, Flora Child and Peony Patterns for girls patterns.
@@sewamelia thankyou. I will take a look
amelia, do you have any of your marino fabric left. you could add a band to the bottom of your sweater.
Thank you! I will have to think about whether I can do that.
Could you put a band on the bottom/ waist of your black cardigan
I'm not sure I can, due to the way the pattern is put together sadly!
Sorry you don't love the cardi! Could you use the ruffle detail to the cardi pattern you prefer to get a better fit ?
Thank you! I think I will use the ruffle piece on the Juniper Cardigan next time I make it.
Could you piece more fabric in the bodice and reattach the hem? Likely no one would know you had done this and, as they say, " piecing is period".
Thank you Katrina! I wondered about that too, but I would have to think about how to work around the button band.
Im sorry. Everything you say was a problem with the cardigan pattern and then say it was well- designed?
Yes - that does sound a little confusing! I really like the look of the pattern - I just wish the big 4 would include more finished measurements, and I'm not sure their block fits me very well. But I love the style/design of the cardigan!
