Congrats Amelia, love your dress and it fits you perfect ! I think it has a vintage look specially with that beautiful floral print. God bless you, love from USA
Hi Amelia, the dress is really lovely and the fit is so flattering. All the preparation was certainly worth it when the result is so perfect. Enjoy wearing it ❤❤
Great video and really interesting to see you getting the fit perfect. Definitely worth the effort as your dress is lovely and the fit is perfect. I hope you enjoyed the stitch festival and wearing your lovely dress x
The style of the Anna dress is very flattering on you. The work you did on the toiles was not wasted. And that blue lawn fabric is gorgeous. Have you seen the Tana lawn fabric from Liberty of London called Lillabet? It comes in a pastel version as well as a brighter version. The design was taken from garments worn by Queen Elizabeth and Princess Magaret when they were children. Since my 2-year old granddaughter is named Lily, I decided to use the pastel version to make her Easter dress. I was surprised to not find it at Minerva, but I was able order it from an Etsy shop here in the US. Thanks Amelia. You are always a joy to watch.
Thank you so much for your lovely comment Nan. I have seen the Lillibet lawn and absolutely adore it. I have a birthday voucher which may get spent on it as it would make a gorgeous smocked dress for my daughter I think! Thank you so much for watching!
Amelia, I'm not the sewist that you are by any means, but when tracing the facings, just use your front and back pattern pieces that you altered and make your facings from that. I'm not explaining it very well, but I hope that it makes sense.
Thank you so much Carol - that is actually exactly what I did! I just checked the depth of the original facing pieces, then traced my altered bodice pieces to make the facing. 😊
What a gorgeous colour! The dress is lovely and smart enough to wear at a wedding or dress down on a nice day out. I love cotton lawn, it's easy to sew and beautiful to wear. Well done on completing it in time Amelia.
This dress was even more gorgeous in person!! The color is so perfect for you, and the fit that you got is fabulous. Worth the trouble of toiling. You absolutely nailed it!
Thank you Theresa! I really do love this shade of blue. It was actually a lot more fun toiling this than I thought it would be, and I am so glad I persisted with it!
Thank you! I am so glad I toiled it and cannot wait to make a couple more Anna dresses for the summer. So looking forward to the reveal of your Dublin Frocktails dress - that looks like a beautiful make!
I'm so glad you toiled first! I felt a little bit stressed when you said you were going to use a pattern you hadn't made before with your precious new fabric, so thank you for that. 😅 You did a lovely job as always. That's such a nice colour and style on you. I hope you had a great time at the show. I'm usually pretty good about not getting FOMO but the all photos and stories on Instagram got me this time 😄
I promise to toile more often and not give you any more heart attacks! 😂 It was a really fun process in the end actually, so I am feeling inspired to toile more often. We had a lovely time at the show, maybe see you there next year? It was lovely to see so many lovely sewing people. ❤
@@sewamelia It's tempting to skip the toile stays, but it's so satisfying to know that you've given yourself the best possible chance of your project working out. Especially with a fabric you really love. I definitely do want to go next time!
Another beautiful dress! Enjoyed watching how you worked through the fitting process. Now you are all set to make that pattern anytime, and know it will fit.😊
Hi Amelia your dress is absolutely gorgeous and the fit is perfect so it was well worth the effort of making a couple of adjustments to ensure that the fit was right x
It looks lovely on you well done hope the weather warms up for you soon over hear in australia we are still up in the high 20’s and hitting the 30’s most days i am on the Gold Coast so we don’t get a very cold or long winter loving your channel
I have toiled the Anna top twice now and love the pattern but not quite got the fit right and you have just inspired me to try again. The dress is beautiful Amelia.
You look great in your beautiful dress! I have made the Anna dress a few times and have had the same issue with the neckline gapping but in the front. It's a great design once you get the fit. Cheers!
Your Anna dress looks lovely Amelia and all the toileing (not sure on that spelling) really paid off - I need to master the small bust adjustment but am too scared 😱Hope you have a fab time at the Stitch Festival today after your busy week
Thank you Clare! I usually avoid SBA like the plague! But the instructions on the By Hand London website were really clear and helpful if you do fancy giving it a go! Thank you so much for watching.
That dress is beautiful on you 🎉 I am a bit like you, shape wise I could easily go across a few sizes in some patterns so a small bust adjustment is definitely on my radar...but still a little way off lol thank you for the resources links though ❤
I love this dress, I didn’t toil mine and what a faff that was 😮 I made the long v neck version and had to unpick my zip and take a huge wedge out of the back to make it fit better (twice 😢). I was left with a little gaping at the v neck which I fixed with a piece of elastic to create a little gather which has made quite a nice little feature (particularly on my fuller D cup bust). Your dress is gorgeous and is making me want to make the short version but I will toil this time 😊
Thank you for watching Jac, it is really interesting to hear about how other people have found sewing up the Anna Dress. The v neck version looks so lovely too. I will have to try that soon.
Hi Amelia, your dress is beautiful and I am so jealous! I had my tickets for the Stitch Festival and couldn’t go because I have Covid. I don’t live near London but I really wanted to go! 😢
Absolutely beautiful. I love the Anna dress on you, my attempts always seem to be ‘gappy’ on the back neckline. Did you say you had this problem too? I just wondered how you fixed it as so far I have been using back darts but wondered if you had a different way? Thank you 😊
Thank you so much Sarah! I did have a problem with the back gaping. I used a tutorial which was linked to on the By Hand London website. There is a link to the BHL Anna dress tutorial in the description box and I just followed the advice on the blog, which worked perfectly!
Thank you Sarah! I will take the zip out of my toile to reuse. Then the fabric was actually scraps left over from another project, so it will go back in my bag of scraps!
Beautiful dress well done with the fit xx
Enjoyed your video Amelia. Your patience in getting the fit just right has paid off. Your dress looks beautiful 😊
Thank you Leonie. It was an exercise in patience, but so worth it in the end I think!
