I grew up in a Chinese-American household, so a rice cooker has been a staple growing up. So it is mind blowing that many cook their rice on the stove. ;D I love my zojirushi I bought for myself when I moved out to live alone.
I have the same one. It solved my brown rice problem. I wanted to cook brown rice, but I never wanted to babysit a pot on the stove for over an hour. With the Zojirushi, I just load the cooker in the morning, set the timer, leave the house for a few hours, come back for lunch.....rice! heh Thanks.
I have been using the same model for over a decade and hace been very happy with it. I actually use it to make steel cut oats more often than rice. I set it up the night before and set the timer for it to be ready for breakfast the next morning. Healthy and delicious!🤌
Bought a Zojirushi rice cooker in 2013. Its coming up close to 10 years old and it still makes perfect rice and all parts of the machine have held up very well over the years. Zojirushi also still sells parts for my model that i can buy if i really wanted to, but still don’t have a need to replace anything after a decade of use. That said, I’ve been toying with the idea of getting another one because I would like a smaller zojirushi to free up counter space. If anyone new to zojirushi is humming and hawing about it, just know that the cost is peanuts for what you get in terms of quality, reliability, and lifespan. It really is a trustworthy brand and I highly recommend it! Also, for the people who say a rice cooker is unnecessary because of how easy it is to make rice, i could make the same argument for stand mixers which you get FAR less daily use out of and which costs up to 5-7 times more than a rice cooker 🤷♀️ I have done a lot of baking without a stand mixer, as I don’t own one since it’s easy enough to mix with my hands 😂
Awesome rice cooker. I have a little $20 Black & Decker basic rice cooker that works well for me but This would be a step up for me. Basmati Rice and Jasmine rice are the ones I use most and then long-grain wild rice for my home-made chicken soup but I just throw it in the slow cooker and let the broth cook it up. Good job there Papi. Love these kitchen videos.
Only question I have guys is, is there any way it can cook ride faster than 60 minutes? I see the “Quick” option but nobody in videos uses it. Would that cool it perfect in less time?!?
LoL fair enough. I ask only because sometimes you aren’t sure what dinner to make until last minute and it would be beneficial if the rice can be completed prior to one hour. Which is a lot of time tbh.
I'm just waiting for the next Black Friday sale on Amazon in the hope I can get a Zoji for myself, if they don't go on sale I will just get one anyway! LOL By the way... I love that pan, did you get it on Amazon?
@@PapiEats Bummer. I've seen similar pans on Japanese or Korean food sites but with shipping, they tend to cost more than a Zoji rice cooker! LOL Thanks for the reply!
I finally got my Zojirushi yesterday! The regular sellers seemed to be out of stock and the people who were selling it were asking almost $300 which was ridiculous. Finally, Amazon had it in stock and the price had dropped to $161.99 from $179.99 and I jumped on it. I will be making my first batch of rice tonight, but so far I am very impressed with the quality of it. And I STILL want that pan! LOLOL 😋
I’ve seen different people say different things. That ratio has been working well for me though. I believe the official instructions involve more water, but don’t quote me on that. Can’t go wrong simply filling the bowl to the marked line either. I haven’t made a bad batch yet!
Awesome! Was anything in particular helpful? I noticed this video has done really well and lots of people have used my affiliate link to buy one of these but I’m not quite sure what I did right 😂
Honestly I’m more of a visual learner, as soon as I started reading the instructions I immediately blanked 🤣. This cooker is definitely easy and sufficient so it was nice to be able to look it up and see you had posted this video because I never owned a rice cooker before today, this was definitely the video I was looking for.💯
It bubbles? I only ever get steam. Are you perhaps using too much water? I’m not positive to be honest, I usually set it and forget it. Doesn’t make much noise.
Thank you so much for making this video. I just got one and the instructions that come with it made my brain short circuit. This video was super easy and very appreciated
Which setting does Jasmine and Basmati go to because your website only says White which can be either the White/Mixed and Long Grain white. Are there differences between the two settings?
Massage it with your fingers and rinse until clear. You dont have to. You cant see how cloudy the water is if you just rinse it on a strainer. I have Zojirushi & Instant Pot but for a perfect Asian rice I cook in a pot on a stove top. We use our finger to measure the water and adjust it dep on the weather. I grew up doing this & my son can cook perfect rice in any pot.
@@PapiEats Sorry, but at 4:06 there appears to be a setting on the cooker that says 'Quick' 😂 Have you used this before or is that where you can set a custom time? Thanks.
You don't get a Zojirushi for convenience. Of course rice is easy to make on the stove. You get a Z because no other way of preparing rice tastes as good as a Z made bowl of rice.
I don't often make rice, but how long does it take to cook the conventional way? It's hard to imagine a machine needing 60 minutes to boil something... lol, I thought you were going to say it takes 60 seconds.
Papi, what’s goin’ on, brodie?! Very nice review. I like that the rice cooker plays that little song when it starts and ends. Pretty cool! Definitely easier and less effort than standing over a stove and having to manually cook the rice. Oh, also, ReviewBruh uploaded a new video today with another misleading title that’s kinda clickbait’ey even though he mentions that McDonald’s re-released them. But yeah, his title is, “Do McDonald’s NEW Spicy Chicken Nuggets Live Up to the Hype?”

It's the best!! Can't imagine not having one now!
Bought this rice cooker because of you review! Thanks and keep up the good work (just subbed)
Aw I’m glad to hear! I need to do more content with it, it works so perfectly!

My old Zojirushi officially died as of today. 12 years of quality service 🫡 looking to upgrade to this bad boy here.
Sounds like it served you well!
Sorry for your loss
As someone who only makes instant rice this was really cool to see. The retractable cord was the high point of the product in my opinion.
haha isn't that fun touch?? Thanks Japan!

Very useful. My son in Canada just got the same rice cooker and I m just gonna send him this video to show him how it works!

Zojirushi is my favorite brand for rice cooker. I have one and use it often. Once I own one life is never the same. I like Asian fluffy rice too.
Right!? I'm addicted.
Your passion made me buy one @oc
I just got mine today... Happy holidays!!!
Nice!! Enjoy, and you too!!😊
I like the pot with the wood handle.
@PapiEats same! Where can i find this pot? :)
^^
You can cook it for 30 min. When you select QUICK! Or do the 60 minute wait.

I had the same one! I stepped up to this one next lol

i have this same rice cooker... these are badass! Try making the pancakes in them as well, they are really good!
Pancakes eh?? Neat!
@@PapiEats yeah, they should be in the recipe book that came with the ricemaker. Or google rice maker pancakes :)
Thank you for the video brother. So the portion of rice/ water is equal parts? For example: 2 cups rice, 2 cups water? Thank you.

I would never wash rice rice in a strainer. You can't see if the rice has been washed thoroughly or not.
While cooking the vent bubbles, a bit is it suppose to?

Working good with other grains like buckwheat?
I’ve only tried with white rice. If you google “zojirushi buckwheat” it looks like others have done that.
excellent review! thank you for sharing, I know have a complete understanding of the product - thank you

Glad I could help!! Yeah the basics are easy enough, I haven't messed with any of the time cooks yet.
Does the keep warm turn off after 12 hours?
Hey, I'm thinking of buying one. Can it do perfect basmati rice?
Dunno that I’m the authority on what makes “perfect” basmati rice but I’ve made what I consider pretty good basmati rice in it
Glad to hear!
wonderful for 1-2 people
Awesome man! I have a rice cooker too, but I usually only make rice when I make curry... ;)
I’m addicted. I make it far too often now 😂😂
I’m 44 years old half Thai and have never made rice on the stove top and I’ve only seen my mom do it once. Rice cooker all the way…

I'd google a bit and see what other people used. Check reddit maybe.
Is there an option to kill the music?
It’s a tiny jingle to let you know it’s ready. I don’t think it can be disabled.
