This was my first ever JRE episode. I was always a fan because of the UFC and Fear Factor. But after this episode, I was hooked on the podcast. And after a few months I discovered Jordan Peterson, Lex Fridman, Andrew Huberman, Jocko, Cameron Hanes, David Goggins, etc. It was the perfect timing as a 27 year old lost man. It’s amazing to comeback and listen to this 7 years later. Now I am 32, blue belt with 3 stripes. Married men to a lovely wife. Thank you Joe!

I am so much better from listening to this podcast. Guy Richie is a teacher and a fine human I will support him in all of his endeavors. Wow, I'm blown away.
Took me 6 hours to listen to a 2 hour podcast. Because I had so pause to many times just to allow my brain to breath. If not to consider what Guy was saying. Brilliant. I never considered so many of his points. Like for instance, I tend to dismiss most bible stuff as "yeah, going to let you speak, respect you, but basically think: your theory is shit". when he started talking about the prodigal son... wheels inside my brain started turning. like mechanical wheels that have been left to rot for years got back to life... and the entire thing was just beautiful. I never thought of that story from that angle. But as he was telling it... it made perfect sense. Great podcast.
"The suit is but unblemished thought, my thoughts are like a magician shooting pure mexican cocaine while snorting peyote and smoking a Cuban rolled on the virgin thighs of an absolutely legal age naked girl...Jamie...pull that up on the..."-Joe "Peyote Coyote' Rogan
This was surprisingly one of my favourite Rogan shows. I'm from the UK and even we don't get to see the real Guy Ritchie. It was fascinating to see him interact with Joe in this situation. He's gone way up in my estimations now, and I appreciate that he's a 'real' director. His life is narrative. Brilliant.
Totally agree, I'm a kiwi living in the USA and I found after this that my respect for Guy Ritchie has sky rocketed. I had never heard him speak before and sadly, just assumed he was some rough, nonsense, loud smartass similar to his characters in Lock Stock or Snatch. How wrong I was. Very smart sounding guy (pun intended)
Not only one of my favourite Joe Rogan interviews, one of the best interviews I've ever seen. Guy Ritchie is an extremely wise man and Joe fully raises his game enabling a conversation to unfold which is truly enlightening.
Every so often you get one of the jre podcasts that just fills your heart with joy and inspiration. Seriously. And this was definitely one of them. I feel so fulfilled after watching this great conversation. Their dynamic, their repoir, their awesome intellectual conversation, and the chemistry between them, all of which just fills my heart with joy. *POWERFUL JRE AND GUY RITCHIE!!!* edit...I refuse to correct my *_TYPO_* of "rapport" XD
I am honestly not joking when I say that Sherlock Holmes Game of Shadows is in my top ten films of all time. For me it isn't just an underrated Ritchie movie, it's a criminally underrated movie full stop. Seriously, watch it again and listen to that dialogue, chemistry, and visual panache. Frustrates me no end that he didn't or couldn't go for a 3rd a few years later.
From concept to release? Surprising to hear, always assumed would be at least a years worth of time for a movie like that if you included developing the script and then all the post production, but I guess maybe if they're pumping out the script pretty fast and it's mostly just practical effects being used, that's not as surprising. Well cool to know.
Not only is Guy Ritchie a masterful director/storyteller, but his philosophical approach of life is truly brilliant and right to the point. His analogy of the suit really rings a bell with me. I've experienced that particular feeling of an armor and « empowerment » when I bought my first suit. And I do love the feeling of ease and of being myself totally in it. The GUY is Brilliant!
***** I'm from Ireland and I'd say 25% of the population drink Guinness including young people drink Guinness and it used to be higher but sure the Polish love vodka and karpaci ha
guys interpretation of the "Parable of the Prodigal Son" was fascinating as fuck. i wish the conversation stayed in philosophy instead of transitioning into jiu jitsu and stem cells, which joe loves to talk about on every podcast...
daveyschneider that was my least favorite part of the show. I really like the guy, but it was the worst interpretation of the story I've heard. Made me wonder if he's read the original story, and if he did, it probably was a really long time ago.
i think he obviously knows the original story didnt have the prodigal of the son snorting cocaine off of hookers tits... He did tell the core of the story of the father accepting his son back after he spends all his inheritance, and killing the fattened calf for him. Then he gave his interpretation. What do you mean?
I know he embellished the story (I took no issue with the hooker thing), and I won't nitpick too much overall. However his conclusion that "you are the father, because you don't need anything" (or something to that effect) missed the point terribly. The original is meant to illustrate how the father (which symbolizes God) accepts and loves both sons, no matter how much they messed up - each in their own way. It is meant for the reader to identify with one of the two sons, but definitely not with the father. I don't even know how one arrives at that conclusion, and it made me want to stop listening. Like I said, I really like the guy and ended up listening to the whole thing. It was just disappointing to hear his take on it.
I don't really understand why you need to push the "real meaning" of the original story? I'm sure he is aware of the old story and its meaning, but that doesn't have anything to do with what he was explaining. I found his view of the intelligence (the older son) not being able to understand the journey of the younger son (our needs, feral human), but the father being able to understand just how meaningful that journey and return was to the younger son, even if it might be hard for intelligence (older son) to grasp. I find that explanation much more meaningful and deeper than father can accept any of his sons.
IMHO, Guy Ritchie's "Revolver" is one of the greatest movies of all time. The depth of the story is incredible and the message or teaching is of great value. I wish I could have an hour long discussion with him about it.
Rock n Rolla is easily in my top 3 favorite movies ever made. I can damn near recite every line I've seen it so many times and I don't rewatch movies usually.
Guy Ritchie is absolutely right about wearing a suit, ya gotta want it. I work at a job that does not require that I wear a suit, but i do, everyday, because I want to, and I feel good because I do.
They were talking about the suits for 20+ minutes. Decent T-shirts are nice too. Guy Ritchie seems like a very thoughtful person. This explains why his films are often entertaining.
"really? 45 year old geezer dressed like an 18 year old." i then realized joe wearing a street fighter shirt lol then joe indirectly threatens him LMAO "I'll choke u with that tie" haha
you know what though? if someone came to my show and said something like that Im gonna give it back to him. i commend joe doing it playfully because if it was me the convo would probably be cut short lol
With an augmented computer hat that connects directly to it's brain via signals, bringing it's IQ up to 180, and able to speak, so it can describe to Joe what it's like to hunt elk with your FACE.
Lock Stock and Snatch are on a whole other level of story telling and shouldn't be compared to his other films in my opinion. Rock n Rolla is super badass though. Revolver is another great one of his too.
L. S. 2 in my top 10 are the one with Jordan peterson, and dan brazilian. my 3rd would be the one where joey diaz tells the story of his roomate leaving his heroine cooking in his apartment over night lmao
As an example: Jay Leno was actually really good. Dana White's was fantastic with Tyson stories and Irish Mob stuff. Dan Flores Henry Rollins Shannon Briggs Graham Hancock & Randall Carlson Wim Hof Dr. Rhonda Patrick Leah Remini Justin Wren

Eldon Grove most important podcast I've watched. This is something I may watch 100 times. Some fantastic perspective.
I had no expectations for this Ep but I was in after that pocket square anecdote.
And an epic comment section, so much fun!
Who knew? Guy Ritchie is pretty dang awesome.
Patrick B dude... he made Snatch... Snatch!
And lock stock and 2 smoking barrels
yeah cause the really dope movies had me thinking he was just a jack ass
Be the suit, Own the suit, Hunt in the suit, I am the suit - Joe "Coyote" Rogan
I am the liquor!
Joacim Hansen Well said Mr. Lahey.
Jerk off in the suit.
Wipe it all up with the pocket square.
31:30 Joe tries to tell Guy "All I would have to do is get a hold of that tie"
Guy was like.....I would love for you to try.
@Jesse O'Keefe ooops
Not only one of my favourite Joe Rogan interviews, one of the best interviews I've ever seen. Guy Ritchie is an extremely wise man and Joe fully raises his game enabling a conversation to unfold which is truly enlightening.
massive twat yeah
@@davidbaum1016 fuck i hope you never created other humans
Every so often you get one of the jre podcasts that just fills your heart with joy and inspiration. Seriously. And this was definitely one of them. I feel so fulfilled after watching this great conversation. Their dynamic, their repoir, their awesome intellectual conversation, and the chemistry between them, all of which just fills my heart with joy. *POWERFUL JRE AND GUY RITCHIE!!!*
edit...I refuse to correct my *_TYPO_* of "rapport"
XD
gay
or just real stoned . thats ok
For "repoir" you mean "rapport" I presume. The thing with fancy foreign words is you better use them right if using them at all eh ;).
melanieenmats Gfys. How's dem fur fancy shmancy wurds?
Lol Dr. Manhattan check your ego bro
5 minutes in and I find out he made Snatch start to finish in only 9 months...god damn, that was a great movie too. That's super impressive
Tommy - the tit - is praying. And if he isn't, he fucking should be.
Will Most movies are made on this time scale or much shorter.
From concept to release? Surprising to hear, always assumed would be at least a years worth of time for a movie like that if you included developing the script and then all the post production, but I guess maybe if they're pumping out the script pretty fast and it's mostly just practical effects being used, that's not as surprising. Well cool to know.
One of the coolest interviews - smart, quick, articulate, classy.
This podcast is a little hidden gem.
This was my introduction to Guy Ritchie. I've not seen any of his films as of this writing, but I love this man.
Jason Statham and Guy Ritchie podcast with Guinness get it going!
ap that would be amazing
OriginalDrDeLeon Guy Ritchie just said he did
just went from 6 to midnight
u don't know brits
I find that explanation much more meaningful and deeper than father can accept any of his sons.
exactly
This is THE episode. I am returning to it constantly. There is definitely a need for another one
This was silky smooth to listen to.
Tommy G tasty
Jason Staham on the motherfucking podcast *NOW*!!! WE NEED DIS!
Get the 'Stathe!
Get Bryan Callen on with Statham, I'd love to see him worship/grovel at Statham's feet.
IMHO, Guy Ritchie's "Revolver" is one of the greatest movies of all time. The depth of the story is incredible and the message or teaching is of great value. I wish I could have an hour long discussion with him about it.
RocknRolla is quite an underrated film.
Ben Wherlock was it a slow dance?
soo true
ment to be a second one aint there?
Rock n Rolla is easily in my top 3 favorite movies ever made. I can damn near recite every line I've seen it so many times and I don't rewatch movies usually.
Charlie russell It's teased at the end of the movie, but it's been a while. I'd be ecstatic if it happened though.
Guy Ritchie is absolutely right about wearing a suit, ya gotta want it. I work at a job that does not require that I wear a suit, but i do, everyday, because I want to, and I feel good because I do.
But is it like wearing pajamas?? We need to know
So you're telling me a guy can walk in a shitty band t shirt and get paid the same as you? Good job
I do agree with guy about the suit tho it definitely feels powerful
If i show up in a suit on my job iam all ready dirty and dusty by the time i have my first coffee break
@Jesse O'Keefe sounds like you know a lot about sitting around in a garbage bag.
Guy Ritchie has to be the smoothest man alive
Guy Ritchie is one of those 'knows a a few dodgy guys' type guy.
He really isn’t. He’s a posh fraud.
More like "says he knows" he totally and utterly plain
Hes posh. Plays up the cockney thing.
He seems that way but he's not. He's a posh twat that has practiced sounding dodgy for years.
@Listen tobigface- i think you are 100% right
I want to see "The Real Rocknrolla". He promised!
Listened to this five times now, never gets old. Ritchie is so interesting, like a genuinely interesting perspective.
I Like Guy Ritchie as a Director. I didn't know he was such a cool philosophical cat.
They were talking about the suits for 20+ minutes. Decent T-shirts are nice too.
Guy Ritchie seems like a very thoughtful person. This explains why his films are often entertaining.
I gotta say, I have a newfound respect for Guy Ritchie after listening to this.
"really? 45 year old geezer dressed like an 18 year old." i then realized joe wearing a street fighter shirt lol then joe indirectly threatens him LMAO "I'll choke u with that tie" haha
TheAl1213 then Guy Ritchie lets him know that tie isn't a choking threat at all. Barbarian.
Joe isn't wrong. Clip-on or breakaway ties are pretty common in the police and security businesses.
That whole exchange was pretty funny. Joe was midly butthurt.
you know what though? if someone came to my show and said something like that Im gonna give it back to him. i commend joe doing it playfully because if it was me the convo would probably be cut short lol
James Savant lol
“Didn’t get them far did it” bit of classic British humour
Listened to this podcast three or four times. Guy Ritchie is a bloody bloke. Way cooler than I thought he was.
It's insane how british he is. I love it.
Feels like I've just been to the therapist.
Revolver really shows the struggle of self and the outside world that shows the inside of guy Ritchie's thoughts.
HE FRICKING BLEW PUUUM! WITH THE PRODICAL SON STORY, MY MAN GUY IS A WISE ONE
SUPER humble about a black belt from Renzo, DAMN.
bring Richie back!! one of the most interesting people on your show, I am just sad I only found his pod cast now!
00:46 "We're gonna get into this aren't we Joe?"
That was great.
fascinating. Damn
Hello mate, love the reviews!
Agreed! Best in the game 🙏🏻
Love the game reviews.
He has one of the coolest voices of all time
Joe get a live wolf on the show!
With an augmented computer hat that connects directly to it's brain via signals, bringing it's IQ up to 180, and able to speak, so it can describe to Joe what it's like to hunt elk with your FACE.
I hear he scheduled a live Neandertal, who hunts with his feet because the Mastodon accident took both his arms.
he already had alex jones a while ago, he booked him again?
Jaguar God or a dodo
Joe should bring Stephen Merchant onto the show. That would be glourious.
NotSoAverageJoe omg yes.
or Karl Pilkington....I can see the moaning now!
He needs to get Joe rogan on the show
Oh hell yeah. It'd be interesting, 2 very different guys.
Joe should have steven, ricky and carl on the pod cast, that would be awsome
Revolver, RocknRolla, Snatch, Lock Stock... 4 of my top 10 favorite movies. Dudes insanely underrated.
If you haven't seen lock, stock and two smoking barrels, snatch or rock an' rolla you should do so ASAP!!!
John Roughneen
nice dog
John Roughneen haven't seen rock n rolla is it as good as the previous two
Lock Stock and Snatch are on a whole other level of story telling and shouldn't be compared to his other films in my opinion.
Rock n Rolla is super badass though.
Revolver is another great one of his too.
TheAl1213 better in my opinion!!
Guy Ritchie owns the suit, Johnny Quid owns the junkie
TheAl1213 Check out the cast. Worth watching on that alone... Appealed to me massively. Johnny quid is a fucking bad ass
I loved ROCKNROLLA!! I hope he makes a sequel!!
Johnny, Archy and the Wild Bunch will be back in The Real Rocknrolla...eventually.
What a fucking movie 😍
Still waiting patiently, Archie is a character that needs an extension, and they promised a sequel
Slap him!
No..no not like that! With the backhand!
What the fuck we playing, a tennis match, Arch?
One of the best episodes. Joe R can't believe this articulate, creative, clarity-incarnate presence in front of him.
In the top 10 podcasts, in my opinion.
I'm interested to know the other 9???
L. S. 2 in my top 10 are the one with Jordan peterson, and dan brazilian. my 3rd would be the one where joey diaz tells the story of his roomate leaving his heroine cooking in his apartment over night lmao
As an example:
Jay Leno was actually really good.
Dana White's was fantastic with Tyson stories and Irish Mob stuff.
Dan Flores
Henry Rollins
Shannon Briggs
Graham Hancock & Randall Carlson
Wim Hof
Dr. Rhonda Patrick
Leah Remini
Justin Wren
+L. S. The Jay Leno episode was really good. It definitely changed my perception of him and in my top 10
lol Dan Brazilian. I agree though, this was of Joe's best podcasts.
I've always been a massive fan of his film Revolver. This interview has given such a great insight to the thinking behind the film. Sweet!
Really enjoyed that movie. Watched it 3 times.
I thought it was fucking awful. Then I watched RocknRolla, and it made Revolver seem like The Shawshank Redemption.
His best work imo
Listen to commentary track to Revolver with Guy Richie. I'ts insane.
