Sunny girl, can you apply gold leaf to cakes without the use of fondant? Im making a cake without fondant and I want to make sure this will work. Thank you
Just done my first cake with gold leaf. Decorated the bottom only (giant cupcake), realised afterwards not a good idea because of the ridges/pattern in the bottom of the cupcake. Took me twice as long to put this on, & also had many patches showing. Big mistake, never again with a giant cupcake should have airbrushed it or painted it gold. Lesson learnt. I do so love the gold leaf though its stunning but so expensive.
Gina, I would say that the top edge is the most important bit. I want it to look the cleanest and the bottom can be hidden with a ribbon or fondant. I want to make sure that the it is perfect from the top so I start there. :) Thanks for your comment.
It's a pity the camera man doesn't know how to do videos, he can't take the video steady, instead wobbling around making it very unpleasant to watch. Like you're in a boat, feeling motion sickness. Couldn't even finish the video, getting dizzy
Is that gold on amazon ?
Which cream u put on cake? How is its stick?y cream not stick to the brush? Which cream is this?
This is a fondant finished cake. Not buttercream. I have videos on how I ganached the cake first then covered it with fondant. Check them out !
Thanks for the tips 🙂
Is this cake covered in fondant or buttercream? Would the gold leaf be applied to buttercream the same way?
Same process, just without the water. There is enough moisture in buttercream to ensure the gold leaf sticks
Can we put gold leaf on whip cream?

Yes I would think the gold leaf will stick quite easily to the buttercream. No water required. Have fun !

Como fazer a folha de ouro comestível
Can I use it on a mirror glaze cake
Yes, you can!
Is there a reason that you didn’t start from the bottom and work up? And work towards you instead of away? Great tutorial! Not an easy job!
