I flipping love the dynamic between the Boys with Hughie, MM, Frenchie and of course Karl Urban as Butcher, they are all so funny. Now they've add the girl to the mix. They certainly nailed casting the in this show. Homelander's on/off switch is great the actor nails it. He was great in Banshee as well, I'd love to see some reacts hit that show up but it might be too hard for youtube.

Damn it, I'm only having this thought for the first time now, but I watched season 1 when it was first released - we know Homelander has basically superhuman everything, from what we see, right? What are the odds that he's not just _"remembering fondly his childhood blanket"_ with vague feelings, but that he was actually forming memories that early and it's even more sad to think about why he's so messed up?

The relationship was not built on lies. There is no foundation of lies. Lies were not used to strengthen the relationship. Lies were added in the relationship later into it. Lies are the roaches infesting the house that is their relationship.

If you agree that lies were added into the relationship we agree on the same facts. Whole argument on phrasing. As a person married for 10 years. If you lying the first 2 months. That foundation is a lie. It’s semantics at this point

Not only are there lies of omission, but Hughie is a "KILLER"! He literally blew someone up trying to get away from him, on purpose. People always forget, or always play down that fact because we like him. Can argue in a way that it was self-defense because of the power structure, still....can't go around killing people because of what might happen two days or two months from now.
Then goes on to hide the crime. Then bugs someones house. Then watches someone get murdered on camera. Then proceeds to blackmail the murderer. Then watches many more people get murdered because he and his buddies let someone out of there cage, which leads to another murder. Then goes on to blackmail someone else. All of this to gain knowledge to something, that he kind of has no right to.
Can't break the law to try to bring down others who may or may not be breaking the law. What if he did all that and found out nothing...or that Supes were good? But it's ok, because we like him.
On paper, dude is villain...just like the Supes he wants to bring down.

Well for Butcher you guys can recall when he wakes up in his room the first thing in the morning he sees is the last footage of his soon to disappeared wife. So 8 years of that as the hate is the only thing to keep him going and never forget, never give up since he wants to kill literal Superman,, bring down the whole country since the supe system is the ultimate weapon the country has to be the number 1 power, his family disowned him, his friends regarded him as a plague that bring misfortune and death to them etc so he has only the goal, his team and everything else are tools to make that happen. Yes he can care for them but it doesn't matter if he can make his goal come true.

The political science analogy at the beginning was interesting considering recent American history. From Iran-Contra in the 80s to mercenary corporations like BlackWater in Iraq and Afghanistan, she would view both as things ‘conservatives’ would naturally be against and liberals in support. Huh? No judgements, just interesting to see what happens over time to history and political branding.

It's basically *because of* the Iran-Contra era it's like this now. The "neos" and "Reagan Democrats" flipped a lot of shit around. If you look at guys like Lew Rockwell, Paul Gottfried, Ron Paul, etc, then *yes* the "old labels" still apply.
Hence the whole "Neocon" vs "paleocon/libertarian" split.
Unfortunately _they are also old fashioned in how they organise_ while neoconservatives have big Megachurch, Medical, and Energy money behind them. Paleoconservative candidates are either community driven or university driven (the ones like Gottfried who think only"dedicated statesmen" have any business running things, flush out all the lawyers and big pharma doctors like Bill Frist), so they have _a lot less_ funding and friendly media connections. Paleocons are highly against "humanitarian intervention " and other such foreign military action, because "we should be caring about and spending on our own problems first!" Some of them like the Buchanan and Unz dynasties are damn near outright anarchists, defund police, defund schools, defund Medicaid/care, *just rip the whole corrupt inefficient system down and start anew!* Take everything back to 1776 and try it all again. Used to listen to their casts to pass the time back when I did night security.

So Hughie is being honest with Annie, but he is withholding information from her that has nothing to do with her but she is unknowingly the source of.

I categorize that the same. If you disagree that’s ok. Be dishonest to your significant other and see how they FEEL about it. Generally they will FEEL LIKE they are lied to.

I wouldn't say the relationship is built on lies, but they are built on secrets... WHILE, Hughie is using her. I mean sure you can say "A lie of omission is still a lie.", But that is such a vague way of understanding things.
If you erase all the background "The Boyz" stuff, nothing about their relationship will change. (As far as I am aware of). I believe there is a compilation video of ONLY Hughie/Starlight moments, and the relationship still flows well and the same.

Season 2 aired prior to Trump winning the election and was airing during the debates…I was legit shocked because of how this show was able to legit predict things that would happen and the way things would go with Trump and the extreme takes a lot of his cult or rather following had/have.
And they even predicted some events that would happen…so watching it in real time as these events were happening it was absolutely insane. I’m like how did these writers pull this off. But I guess some people are a bit predictable.

It's okay to be mad at somebody who wronged you, either on purpose or by negligence... But eventually you want to move on. You have to get to acceptance somehow, or the trauma will forever weigh you down. That's what the core philosophy of support groups is. You shouldn't even join until you're ready to move on. So Butcher is totally in the wrong there. He never learned to let go himself, but he shouldn't assume other people are the same way.

All leaders should lead by example. Honesty is the best solution but as a preacher they are expected to be perfect when preaching not to fail there flock but yet they're human and capable of sin. So it's a tough situation. The Romans used religion as a way to make money and control the masses and would only mention the parts they use to push there agenda. When the Bible became something any person can own people became more aware and held these preachers accountable with the scripture. Yet still bad people train to become preachers for the wrong reasons like money, power, control or for some to be near children. All this is human but is a mockery to God.
