Hi new sub here. I suggest, when you try Mang Inasal next time, try to combine "Calamansi" and "Soy Sauce" in a saucer and it's optional to put wild chili "siling labuyo" if you want it spicy. Then there is a signature condiment as well that's called "Chicken oil" its the orange like oil that you can put in over your rice and the best way to eat chicken inasal is this way, "rice + bite site chicken + dipping sauce" that would be absolutely delish. Try it you will never forget it! :)

I spent 6 month's in the Philippines in 2018. Once I discovered " Mang Inasal " I ate there at least 4 to 5 times a week either for Lunch or Dinner. The Chicken is always Tasty and Fresh. You can't beat the Quality for the Price. Before the Pandemic, there used to be lines out the doors at every location to get in and order... Hard to get a seat inside. But worth the wait.... Enjoy

For dipping, you can use the calamansi, squeeze it in soy sauce and put the chili. Then dip your chicken on it for evey bite. It will enhance the flavor. You can pour small amount of chicken oil to your rice.

Some tip.. if they gave you a calamansi and chili, make a dipping sauce with soy sauce.. it will enhance the flavor of the dish.. if its fried just add vinegar then calamsi and chili. Thats how we eat our food. With dipping sauce..
Soy sauce, calamansi and chili - for bbq or something grilled or fried..
Vinegar, calamansi and chili - for fried food or bbq also..
Fish sauce, calamansi and chili for like a stew or soup based food. Its like our own version of salt..

I'm guessing, when you mentioned cooler place, that it could be up in the highlands up north from Manila which is Baguio City, or somewhere south of Manila which is Tagaytay where Taal Volcano is. Also there is a nice Starbucks shop there overlooking the volcano and lake. . Enjoy traveling and stay safe.

Mang Inasal is definitely my favourite in the Philippines. Jolibee is good and they have a larger variety like you said. Nobody makes BBQ chicken as good as they do in the Philippines. All pork dishes there are really good as well. Mang Inasal is definitely my favourite. Calamansi should always be mixed with soya sauce and vinegar at the table. Dip your chicken in that mixture and you'll have a taste of heaven in your mouth. 😋

  • @iflipover
    @iflipover 2 года назад +4

Along with other people's suggestions here w regards to the condiments (calamansi, soy sauce, vinegar and chilli) as well as asking people/staff what to order and how to eat it, you can also pour a bit of the chicken oil (there should be a bottle of it among the condiments) on your rice. Adds a new dimension of flavor.

    Appreciate what you do! Cheers!
For the sauces you can ask the waitstaff to provide you:
    Chicken oil
    Calamansi
    Chili
    Soy sauce
Mix all those together in a small bowl and use as dipping sauce for the chicken and even the pork BBQ.
Personally I put some of the sauce concoction on my rice and some chicken oil on the chicken or pork BBQ to make it more juicy.
Then the sinigang is like a savory palette cleanser in between every other bite. Hope you guys enjoy!

Filipinos doesn't use knife because the meat is so succulent that using the spoon to cut the meat is enough.
By the way, there is a yellow sauce (chicken oil I think) that you can put on top on your rice to give it more flavor.
Sauce - mix calamansi, soy sauce and a little bit of pepper on a small plate and dip the meat there for added flavor 😊🙏
Tip: you can ask the staff some help in mixing the sauce 😊

Burger King in the Philippines. 😄 hint: see fine print on yellow coin can at 2:01
[Update: also acquired Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf abroad for a price tag of $350M]
The sauce in Mang Inasal should self-mixed: calamansi, silli (red chili) 🌶 and soy sauce.
I personally prefer Mang Inasal as it feels healthier- well it is. Plus they have veggies and halo-halo.

There is a public transportation (bus) that takes you there on a regular basis. You could also rent a car if you prefer to travel privately just to avoid being exposed to the virus.

To make the basic sauce mix for grilled meat in the Philippines, squeeze the calamansi juice (Philippine lime) onto a small bowl with soy sauce. A little bit of trivia, the Mang Inasal chain of restaurants is also owned by the Jollibee Food Corporation. JFC acquired 70% share in 2010 and gained full ownership a few years after that.

Look for Gerry's Grill branches in Makati. Lots of great Filipino food choices like crispy pata, stuffed squid, grilled tuna belly, beef bulalo, baby squid in black ink sauce, laing, buco pandan or mais (corn) con hielo for dessert.

10:32 It's finger-lickin' good, Craig! 😋😋😋😋😋I won't be using any silverware when eating Mang Inasal chicken. It diminishes the experience. Hahaha.
IDK why they served the halo-halo too early (not my preference 😝)
One time, I had an accident with the soy sauce in one of those little saucers while eating out at a Mang Inasal resto before my flight to MLA; it soaked a part of my trousers; I didn't have enough time to change my pants. It stunk! 😝

Many British couples (vloggers) won the hearts of many Filipino subscribers. It's very simple strategy: be respectful to our culture which is so diverse, don't criticize our way of table manner or ways of using fork and spoon and above all else never say anything against our local food. If you guys can do this, you will gain so many followers who will cherish you, care and love you. For sure one of them is ME.

@@feelslikehometravels1232 But you can do a constructive criticism though. Never criticize without the wisdom of an alternative or better way of doing things.
Remember, Asians love to be told what can be improved but do it with respect. We are very respecting people to respectful individuals. We always wanted that our faces be saved when something is not good. And we also do that to other people. Soon, you will realize that Filipinos would even use reverse psychology to communicate their point. To some extent especially when you disrespect them, they will tell you the opposite.
      Just a gentle reminder. 😊

The calamansi, hot chili pepper and the soy souce mix together is the secret dip for the inasal to really appreciate the fullness of the taste of the chicken... try it next time, you will ask for a soucer to blend it all together...

  • @chubs2582
    @chubs2582 2 года назад +2

The food will be much better if you mix up the soysauce, calamansi and chili and use it as diping sauce for chicken. Also the best thing about Mang Inasal are the Unli Rice experience and putting some Chicken Oil on it. You can do that next time you go back. :)

All Filipino fast food restaurants suggest that after you order at the counter; go directly to the wash area to wash your hands before meals. After meal wash your hands again in the same manner you did before.

Another recommendation although not a fastfood outlet but an actual restaurant would be Max's. It's an iconic Filipino resto brand that has been around for several decades. Their fried chicken really built the brand. You make the dipping sauce by mixing banana ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce. You might want to try their Kare-Kare and Fresh Lumpiang Ubod. A personal favorite of mine also is their Tapsilog, a classic Filipino breakfast fare.

most of the time, the dipping sauce is either: soy sauce with the calamansi and chilli; or vinegar with garlic and chilli; or fish sauce with chilli.

The tiny lime and chili 🌶 in your plate is the sauce. You have to squeeze it in a sauce plate or tiny bowl the add soy sauce to it.

Another tip guys. You can ask the waiter/waitress to serve the ‘halo-halo’ after your meal. This way it doesn’t melt while you’re eating the main course. 😋😋😋
Also, the calamansi and the chili on your plate are to be mixed with the provided sauce to enhance the taste and flavor.
Again, don’t be embarrassed to ask the proper way a certain dish is best eaten. Sometimes the servers just assumed all their customers are basically regular patrons.

That resto you went to, which is in Makati Avenue, the condiments have to be requested. They used to put it in one corner and everyone can just grab one of the many bottles to mix their sauce but when the pandemic hit, you will now have to request it and they will be the ones to pour the sauces on your platter. Remember, mix 1 tablespoon of Soy sauce, squeeze one calamansi, pour 1/2 teaspoon of vinegar, pour 1 teaspoon of chicken oil then crush one red chili. That's the perfect mix.

The Filipino flavor does not stop on food that is serve. You will notice that condiments is serve along with your food. You can adjust the flavor base on what you feel. And every experience is different even if you dine on the same place. Basic of dips--a little sour, a little salt and spice. Have a great experience!!!
