This guy. Wonder how many lives he could save if everybody was forced to watch this and this was the curriculum for say A course in high school about how to maintain your body and optimize your health from a guy with an Olympic pedigree.
You win a decathlon by being better than the rest of them. Smarter, healthier and more determined to exhaustively optimize every detail of your diet. Sten probably had a better doctor than the rest of them too. I found this channel 2 weeks ago and I immediately stood up and I stood there in front of my cell phone propped on a keyboard and watched it for several hours and I felt like I had finally found the one person I could know is not just full of it.

Having explained to somebody the fact that , eating keto, which means more meat than other diets, i am making a favor to the nature because , YES meat is creating a lot of pollution but:
1 - eating less means produce.less products, means less industry less pollution
2- eating less " bar coded" products helps the enviroment. Even though i am vegetarian so 4 me is vegketo, but my wife loves meat prod. Thnx Dr Ekberg for your time 😉

What a great video!! I will add though that when you're doing keto+IF, you're essentially focusing on quality over quantity, which is exactly what we need. That means, for the same amount of money you'd spend on eating junk 3 times a day, treat yourself to a nutritious high quality healthy one meal a day that will not only keep you satisfied all day, but will also provide you with the nutrients you need, so much more than 3-5 junk meals that are empty calories, not to mention the potential hospital bills you'll run into when not eating healthy and your overall energy and productivity that you'd get from eating and living healthy. Again, thank you Dr. Sten for a wonderful video and great effort in all your videos. I'm a big fan of you and really enjoy watching and supporting all your videos.

A note: the advantage of eating fat is that fat cells help suppress hunger via leptin, which is very liberating for me: it means it is not me fighting against hunger but rather naturally reduce the hunger. IF and higher fat meals have been a personal revolution :)

this is one of the most important videos by Dr. Ekberg (they are all important), but this information helps the masses to start on keto, when these key ingredients at Sprout are on sale, I buy bulk and freeze them, especially the cheeses, the butter, the bacons, the sausages, the seafood, and the meats, it becomes even more economical.

I live here in Mexico where 90% of the average persons income actually gets spent on food and vegetables and meats are by far the most expensive foods available! ( That's why tortillas and beans and rice are staples 😂) however I found it affordable to eat a ketogenic diet because the actual amount of food I eat was decreased so dramatically! I usually eat just one meal every one or two days now.... and surprisingly am far less hungry than I was when I was eating five or six meals a day of the cheapest carb laden foods! So I am actually spending less money on food now and eating the most expensive foods available!

Wonderful, clean diet plan. Really hits the highlights.
I took your plan and added a little $$ and food value.
I find my preference, I tend to swap your lunch for your breakfast, but adding the Laird superfood brand mushroom coffee drinks (I want the mushroom's Vit D where I have a problem with fresh mushrooms). I have 3 eggs, but I remove the whites from 2 of them.
This as breakfast or lunch must really satisfy because my blood pressure immediately goes down (maybe cortisol stress must also).
Several times a week I swap your ground beef for the more expensive wild caught canned salmon (with skin/spine bones), or sardines, or anchovies.
My dinner salad is not just vinegar, but apple cider vinegar (makes a great salad dressing vinegar). Also adding to salad broccoli florets, organic black olives (for raw olive oil) and organic black garlic and another whole, raw bell pepper.
Lunch and dinner I add 4 oz serving of Sauerkraut for the probiotic, cruciferous and vitamin C needs.
All day, my water has light blanched leaves of organic green tea (low caffeine).
I'm spending more than your excellent diet plan, but I added because I'm recovering and need the additional nutrition and absorption.

My keto breakfast today consisted of a pouched egg, truffles, some parmesan and two cups of coffee. - You may be surprised, because it may sound very fancy and chic, but it was not expensive at all. Half a teaspoon of truffle pate cost maybe 1 euro, a few shavings of parmesan - let's say ten cents, and the egg - the highest quality, farm plaine air biological - 40 cents. Even with my two cups of coffee, I am still under two euros.
The moral of my story is that eating healthy doesn't have to be very expensive, just think ahead and plan and you will save a lot of money and get a lot of health benefits.
    Thank you Dr Ekberg!

Can I suggest doing your percentages of each element as percentage of the whole meals calories. Then we can see the ratio of the macros building into keyo ratio.

    Excellent information.
I really thought it would be difficult to drop down to two meals per day, but it's so easy. I'm now at a stage where I stuff myself less, because I have to fit a second meal in within six hours.
Intermittent fasting feels so natural to do and I'm finding it quite addictive.
    Great channel.

Dr Ekberg. I have asked before and I'm asking again. Have been living the Keto life style for over a year now. Doing OMAD and IF and love it. How can I stop losing weight though and still continue with that regime? Am 64, Ht 5'10'', Wt 130lbs. Thanks and greetings from Alberta, Canada. cat.

    • @drekberg
      @drekberg  5 лет назад +14

Thank you Cats Rule. At some point you need to eat more. OMAD when you're thin makes you very insulin sensitive and hard to maintain weight. I would do OMAD 3-5 days a week and IF 18:6 the rest, and increase good fats and protein. Also cycle in some days with higher carbs (no junk though😄). Carbs are not evil if you are insulin sensitive. Our ancestors had periods of abundance.

I suspect I am pre-diabetic for the last 2 yrs. About 3 weeks ago I felt so bad physically (after eating too much of watermelon and ice cream) that I decided I need to change my diet. I had run into your videos by the accident, but watched many of them since then, before starting my own. I am on Keto now for 2 weeks. I started from total fasting for 2 days (broke it incorrectly though, not so gradual - did not see yet your video devoted to this topic), with following OMAD (early dinner) all but one day (had 2). First 5 nights I did not sleep well, even reducing coffee intake to 0, and had morning headaches and fatique, but after that it improved itself. On the 6th day (Saturday, shopping) I got so hungry that I reduced 24 hrs to 20 to buy 2 fast food meals - a chicken salad and letter-wrapped hamburger (I managed to stay away from carbohydrates) and later had a Keto dinner at home. During 2 weeks on Keto with few walks and one run, I lost 5.2 lb which was very impressive, although loosing weight was not my primary goal (I am over 50, 5.5 tall, 167 lb, "some" belly fat). I feel already more energetic physically and I feel like my vision is also improved (not sure in accuracy though - need more time). However, I still get craving towards the end of 24 hrs fasting, especially on weekends. OMAD on weekends seems harsh for me as a green beginner since being at home/gardening or shopping have different conditions that cause (more) cravings. I am not sure if I should do 2MAD instead of ODAM, as a beginner. Also, what I could not figure out was how and what food provides high fat percentage in a single meal. Your video showed it fantastically clear pacifying my worries and giving needed information - thank you! Could you give an example of one meal a day and two meals a day, with F/P/C info similar to what you showed for a 3 day-meal? How to pack all the needed calories into one meal? Thank you for all your videos!

I've been hesitant on sausage and ground beef, but I will consider bringing them back in. I usually prefer meat where there has been nothing but the slaughter. I usually do 80/20, but it might be time to go back to 15%. Lately I've found myself going back to eating it steak style as opposed to hamburger style. Had some recent hand injuries, so I had to switched to already cracked ones.

How do you adjust for fibers? how much fiber is there in this meal? and would you recommend supplementing for fibers in case of constipation when starting a ketogenic diet.
