CONGRATS NC STATE FOR WINNING
THEIR FIRST EVER NCAA CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP! WELL EARNED!
Back to back !
For those who don't know, NC State women's cross country also won back to back team national championships in 1979 and 1980...when the sport was under the AIAW (just prior to switching over to the NCAA in 1981). It was effectively the same as an NCAA championship (competing against all the same schools), just under a different name.
NC State dominated!! 🔴⚪️ well done Katelyn to get 15th after having a fall at the 1 mile mark!!
She fell? What an amazing young lady and team!
Too much about her, there was 14 ahead, give them a mention.
Same with Valby, was in the lead but suddenly..
Back to back !
She didn't fall.
I ran in the 1977 and 1978 cross country NCAA championships (middle of the men's pack). Just love watching these now. Great race!
how fast
If you finished middle of pack. You were not a bad runner. I was always in the back at regional in NAIA.
Whittni is such a beast I freaking love her and I’m soooo happy for her on her title and the NC State girls as well! Wow!
They should make a T-shirt- with a picture of Whittni Orton, victoriously crossing the finish line - with the caption: “It feels good! It feels real, real GOOD!” What an amazing performance to win the NCAA Championship - beating a very talented group of runners!
I felt so bad for that runner that fell and couldn't get up at the end. Hope she's ok.
So happy for NC State! I almost went there to run many years ago. I live in Raleigh and run near the school. Watching the team run near me is so beautiful. Such amazing talented girls! Congratulations
This is some of the best coverage I have seen! Also great commentary and statistics!!
The heart of a Dawg doesn't/didn't quit but finishes....They can't all Win but they can all be Winners who gave their best efforts!
To be part of this race is been amaizing! Thaks to my daughter who participated. I congratulated one of each of the participants because I know what it takes to be there, thanks to Alyssa.
Heloo
Congratulations to your daughter!
Way to go BYU!!!!
Orton took off.. she was not being caught after that.
Great pack racing from NC state to take the win. It's crazy how long Kelsey, Katelyn, Hannah, and Ally stayed so close together.
Shout out to the ladies at 20:15 & 21:50 who finished with nothing left! The first was the 5th finisher for BYU, and the second was able to get up and finish with a time of 22:40. She also collapsed at the finish line lol
good coverage. thanks NCAA!
Great job NC STATE, Katelyn , Kelsey will you be at NXR in northeast (Bowden Park) next weekend or be watching southeast in Cary NC ... in the boys race NE lookout for Gavin Sherry CT .. won NH , Girls team Saratoga springs.... have a happy holiday to all...
i love you Whittni Orton dall italia SEI MERAVIGLIOSA
13:07 "please don't..." lmao
It’s so true you gotta stay calm while racing. It’s very easy to get agitated and lose your energy
Let’s go Mountaineers! Proud of you girl!
terrible camera footage. who cares about all the drone footage, you couldn't see anything except the tops of the trees
prob could not get a signal out of the trees - just like part of the March race at OSU. Overall coverage and commentary was very, very good imho.
At least they got it in 1080 this year...maybe next year they'll manage to get 60fps.
be thankful that we can even watch it this soon, cause normally it's put behind flotrack paywall and resurfaces like 5 years later.
I was there to watch it amazing race
I used to be one of the best cross-country runners in my province when I was in high school.
Love the drone shots!
Why couldn't we get this good of video on the Division II and III race?
VOLUME!!! VOLUME!!!
This commentary is so good!!!!
I had no idea how WIDE the beginning of this race was... WOW
New York's Katelyn Tuohy, freshman of NC State with a very impressive 15th place.
What's impressive is the fact that she fell and still got 15th!
The hotdog only 15th . LOL .
@@johndecker7881 She fell.
@@EdFertik Which minute did she fall in?
@@vlogsbyalejandro 1 mile, you can see her trying to get back on the left at 5:46 on the left
They are soo fastt !
I love LDS and BYU sisters.
BYU winning is the most pleasant feeling.
Way to go Wolf Pack~!!!!! Go Badgers!
amazing view
Congrats to NC State and BYU. Whit ran a great race and I'm so happy for Diljeet.
Not even calling Katelyn's name would be like not calling Lebrons in a Lakers Championship game. Shameless - Biased Announcers.
Did Katelyn win?
@@jerks6215 she was 15th which is impressive, especially considering that she fell the first mile
Who?
Thank you
Go Pack!
Orton was a couple of seconds faster than this years winner.
You can't really compare times in cross country when talking about different courses. Courses are not all exactly 6,000 meters. Some are a little longer than 6k, some a little shorter than 6k. Also, the course conditions can vary a lot, affecting times -- eg, more/less hills, condition of footing on course (eg, muddy, etc).
What happened to the audio? I can barely hear it unless I turn the volume up close to the max! I need to turn it back way down afterwards for any other RUclips video. Very poor quality! DII coverage turned out much better, with normal audio level. Am I the only one?
I was thinking the same, but i'd rather have this than flotrack, and then they'll post it 5 years later.
@@XximwishinxX I know what you mean, but BEWARE the volume level for the ads! (BTW, FloTrack ran live commentary.)
@@XximwishinxX (Also, I noticed your last name. My mom's maiden name is Ibarra, spelled the same.)
Where is the awards ceremony? The other five races all show them.
No one was beating NC State on this day.
Question for the commenters: I’m confused as to why almost every team has their 4th and 5th scorers go out fast…like “up with the leaders” fast for the first 1k only to have them fade badly in the final 2k. For example, OK State’s 4th and 5th did their first K in 3:17 and 3:15, only to be doing 3:33-3:39 for the final 2k. This isn’t just OK State….it’s pretty much the same across the board. Why are coaches having their 4th-7th going out with the leaders? It’s like a textbook way to have them run well below potential for that day. Does someone argue that the psychological benefit from being up front early counter all the physiological penalties incurred by going out too fast?
Very poor footage, this one probably didn't make it to ESPN!
Tuohy is gonna win this race at least once before she graduates.
maybe... sad to say... NCS has changed her stride ... its better for her 1600 closing speed which is seen in her 1512 1500 pr but... but not for the 5k + runs ... maybe they will take note!
Nope she will burn out before her senior year .

Did the woman on the ground at the end of the video finish okay?
Hi John,
Girl on the ground here 👋
Was a bit rough but I made it to the finish !
@@sophie0sullivan459 Glad to hear......I hope you are okay! Heart of Champion!!!!!
@@sophie0sullivan459 Thanks for the update! Glad "the girl on the ground" finished and is Ok!
Soooooo......Congrats to all the champions that crossed the finish line......what happened to the poor woman who fell or was hurt right before the finish line?? Did she ever cross and what kind of injury did she have.....sprained ankle or some kind of pulled muscle or achilles tendon injury???
I asked on of the girls on Tuesday and they said she did finish then got taken care of immediately after
@@empowellment hey thanx for replying....I did notice she replied to another poster below and said she finished and was okay....so, glad to hear she is okay and was able to finish....it would be tough for me to watch this if it were my daughter.....God Bless..
There should be a fundraising poster, women of Cross Country. Maybe a calendar. Fit, focused, fiercely competitive ladies. Just a natural
Rise and shout, Cougs!
ye
Not seen on the telecast due to her being in the back of the field the entire race:
Utah's fifth finisher, Lisha van Onselen, ran the race out there BAREFOOT and finished 186th.
On purpose?
Yes, because networks only show the lead pack at nearly all times during races by design.
Their purpose is to tell the story and call and analyze the race.
I think the question is, did she run barefoot on purpose, ala Zola Budd? Or did something happen to her shoes during the race?
Yes, she ran barefoot intentionally because she is more comfortable running in bare feet than in shoes..
She has also run in shoes when courses have been tough in regard to footing.
wolf pack yes
Go wolf pack 🐺 and Taylor Roe
They don't tell you the date. They don't tell you where. They don't tell you the distance in miles, or what the records are, or what the field is here, or the age or grade min/max, or eligibility criteria. They don't do the viewers any favors.
Well I think they assume that if you're watching this that you know about XC. And I think you can infer many of the questions you asked. Like it's a college race, so that tells you the age/ grades. It's a D1 race with tells you the field. The date and place popped up in a box in the beginning and the distance is 3.72 mi.
13:06 why was she so harsh LMFAO ?
The speakers were fantastic
I was here to see the race instead i saw lots of trees....
Who was the titan girl trying to finish but still a little far from the line. I wish she had not get an injury while fighting to finish, my heart for her courage.
Did he say McCae is Gaelic
Nice to tuohy do so well at the front and dudek coming back from her injury last March to finish, hope she gets back to among the front runners she was before her injury..
And Katelyn Hart did very good as well, cannot wait for the regular track season to begin.
And this political covid and vaccine and mask madness to end.
How comes NCAa X-country men run 10k but women run 6K ?.. where is NAU (North Arizona U). ???
Go cougs!
Reminds me of bison running😂😂😂
Post the men's race
I had BYU winning both team titles. WTF happened?
no.... NAU was far deeper in the under 60 finishers that's why they were likely winnner... 2 individual Champions ain't bad... 2 and 7 finishes, quite respectable.
nc state dominance happened
I thought the women had it for sure but I'm happy with first place finishers.
Not a cross country fan or a fan of any particular school, but BYU has been 1st or 2nd, 10 times and one 5 national championships…….. That seems kind of dominant to me.
NC State had all 5 in before BYUs 3rd came in. BYU had the better 1-2 but NC State had a much better 3-5. Similar story on the men with NAU and Iowa State having all 5 in before BYU's 3rd. BYU women probably won't podium next year because they're loosing Anna Camp and Whittni Orton.
I just wanted to comment all that fluffiness! Good lord the friction!
Why the 4k difference
Was hat diese Strecke mit Cross zu tun?
es ist ein Langlaufkurs
@@mindofaseagull7465: Übersetze die Überschrift mal ins Deutsche, du Schlauberger:
"Cross Country Championship"
Audio is fucked
Im not understand how they count a point...someone can explain..
The place you get is how many points you receive for your team. For example if you are in first place you receive one point and so on. The goal is to have your team with as little points as possible
That girl that fell and cant stand, she is one of the last people on course, don't let her finish she is so far from the line. Those officials need to take charge and help her off the course. I ran cross country and track, and nothing is worth it
😢
Such a bloody bad job on the commentary, no mention of Katelyn T at all. Valby pulls out and no mention at all! Katelyn gets tripped at 1 k and nothing like she just doesn’t exits, Parker drops I’m so pissed at this crap coverage.
Cringe-worthy announcing.
gg
I'll watch when any of them win a world championship
Congratulations!👌🎉
Is is rude that the girls are doing 6k when the boys are doing a 10k.
These announcers know nothing about CC. Hire better communicators
That girl who was crawling probably had some vitamin water for breakfast and didn’t eat anything at the team dinner the night before. Also prob has an eating disorder like 80% of these girls.
I’ve seen it all.
Her legs gave out momentarily from having pushed herself hard throughout the race.
This happens a lot at the end of races all the time.
Nutrition and hydration has nothing to do with it.
Good call Dr Phil, gtfoh!
Nah.
These are elite level runners. They are supposed to be around a certain weight? These girls probably eat more than you do because they burn so much calories. Thats the first thing my Coach had me do when I got to college was lose weight, and i was already very skinny. You don't have any clue what you're talking about .
And you decided you needed to speculate on that online? Nice one
