It is too bad that people complain. I'm glad a VW was restored and not left to turn to rust and dust. There is no perfection we're just glad you did a nice job bringing one back!
great job with your restoration! Don't worry about the people telling you that you could have done a better job in certain places. I have to confess that before restoring my first car (1988 Trabant 601) I was one of those people who were rather nit picky in the comment section of these videos, but now I can appreciate the hard work that went into these videos a lot more
Don't know who made the "half ass" comment but they aren't in touch with reality. That van is fantastic!! I'd be proud to drive it. By the way, doing bodywork/sheetmetal body repair is an incredibly DIFFICULT and lost art. Good on you for jumping in and getting it done the best you could with the time and money you had!!
Some mistakes in the editing but it took me about 10 hours to make this with old footage. if you appreciate it please like this comment. thanks again for watching.
Great video Mike! Thanks for sharing all your know how and methods/knowledge. if you were to sell this van what would you ask for it? I am just curious! Thanks again, Doug

Mike today my friend came over and installed front I-beam on my 67 bus, that I rebuilt last winter on the HF adjustable cart.. Funny the new rubber brake hoses on the front--- took us for ever due to forgetting how and where the bracket to connect to the King Pin grease zerk.. Absolutely loved watching this project come together. Learned a bunch, and I enjoy that you know exactly how to get a great finished product and doing your way. Ppl need to understand that there’s not one way of doing it ‘right’.
WOW! What a load of hard work THAT musta been! I'm so lucky I found both my 61's (double cab, double-door panel) in sunny, dry Albuquerque! Solid as granite, very minimal surface rust at all. Hell, the panel has its original (matching numbers) 40hp stale air, and believe it or not, still riding on its original Continental TUBED tires! Gonna have to swap those out, but...... You do GREAT work!
This give me motivation to work on my '66. Mine looks about how yours did at the start. Thought I would finish it in a year but it's already been 3! Gonna go back and watch your old videos. Thanks for putting this together. :)
I found your channel and subscribed because of this project. I don't think I saw the first few videos that showed really how bad this thing was when you got it. Amazing transformation!
This is clearly NOT a show bus but a solid driver as intended, the amount of work invested was minimized with the lap joint method and the result is just fine! Looking forward to the interior completion, hope you'll share that too!
Great work. I sped through most of it as I have been subscribed from the beginning. Some how I missed the Safari windows installation. Looking good in the neighborhood.
Had one fitted out as airplane service vehicle late 60’s in Australia. Dad shouldn’t a put heavy equipment way back as I touched the brakes on a wet country tarmac it slid beautifully side on until just nudged the bank...was telling my very concerned older brother “I got it I got it”. Backed up and drove home to Lismore.
Thanks Mike for not be a perfectionist. It can be hard to live up to other people and you’ve made it look awesome without being picky. It gives the average joe a shot at trying to do their best. I hope you enjoy driving it!

I'm working on my 1962 11 window now, and hope to finish late December. Original Turkis bus. I can only hope my bus turns out as nice a yours. Cool video!!
My brother lost his license to drive from too many speeding tickets in his Charger so once he could legally drive again he bought a used VW bus. Had it 10 years & never got a ticket. Even during Jimmy Carter's 55 mph speed limit. Driving home was a 500 mile round trip he did flat out once a month so he learned to adjust the valves often. He wore out one engine & had a rebuilt engine installed. This was the one vehicle he never let me drive. A relative had one of these & it carried 4 adults & 3 of us kids up & down hills all over southern New Mexico. Not fast but it got us home. It is an interesting vehicle. Small air-cooled engine did the job.
