My man hand crafted a debug tool for detecting Y-levels and their viability for procedural generation (among other things?) and brushed past it since he knew killing goblins was what we cared about
I think a good suitably gross animal for the goblins to farm are giant snails or slugs, if you want it to be extra gross have them not only farm them for meat but also their edible mucus
I think it would be cool to have the slime be oily to act as lubericant, maintenance oil, and fuel for boom devices pop culture goblins tend to like. That and some shells can be hard enough to be somewhat sharpened so having sharpened shell largely replace metal, even outside of armor, could be a good way to distinguish rank. Stone and wood for the bottom rung, shell for seconds, and metal for first in command.
goblins should raise toads so they can use the toad venom giving them a poison effect also most goblin are usually bullied by a larger humanoid monster
I reckon goblins oughta keep boars or tusked pigs. animals who’ll eat anything, chock full full of tasty blood, perfect for the modern goblin on the go
I think some goblins should have farms with giant mushrooms and beatroots. They harvest some of these and feed them to giant worms that they breed and slaughter for protein. Goblins should also have watchtowers scattered around their territories and plots, more closer to their fortress / "dungeon". Maybe give them a lumber mill structure at some point, too.
The rat hybridisation is specific to some setting I can't recall, but isn't the case generally. They're usually treated as their own thing in modern fantasy, but in truth wargs are literally just big bad wolves lol. As is often the case it all traces back to Tolkien, who in turn drew upon the deep well of Germanic folklore and mythology (warg is literally just an alternative word for wolf in Germanic languages). Anyway, pedantry aside, I agree lol. Wargs and goblins is a classic combo.
I think that a good idea for goblin husbandry is maggots, think something like mad max (game) maggot farms. Goblins are agressive creatures that kill others which leaves corpses, if you turn that little coop building around so that entrance is outside of the fence and put a little window on the other side goblins could throw corpses to the maggots and take maggots out with a net (which is also nice to let the corpse juice drip out). Another cool idea with this is if your character goes unconscious they can be thrown into that maggot farm and when they come to their senses try to escape.
Also another idea is, you know how in kesnhi bonedogs are attracted to dead bodies and they come to eat them so your settlement dudes have to fight them, to have goblins kinda act like that. Maybe have some lone scout goblins wander around and if they spot corpses and bodies around your settlement (idk if youll choose to have that base building system) they go back to their tribe and alert others which come for a scavenging party.
I think adding one of those roof that fade off when you enter the pre-gen building later on would add to the immersion a bit, goblins having just fenced off land with small tents and piles of junk I can see, but other human would prolly need some more advanced buildings
yeah, if you can make more original creatures like this, it will be a million times better. games with generic Tolkien rip offs get ignored and forgotten fast.
It's mostly because I have an affinity for water fowl but I think the goblins should keep geese in their coops and make them as hostile as the goblins are to humans
@code4broke if you can't look at the glory of a pond with a hundred ducks and geese being both the most calm and chaotic places at the same time than there is no way you'll ever know
I imagine goblins stealing animals from humans so I'd assume they would keep chickens and pigs. Perhaps they could take some rats and squirrels from the forest too?

4 things 1) do women update 2) make goblins farm chicken rats, i just thought they some what sound delicious 3) try breeding ur 3D guy with another 3D guy mob, use wheat or carrot
2:37 I think goblins like the ones in Warhammer are great, basically sponges that eat and destroy anything. So I think they could cage any animal they want to eat, from chickens to humans.
The goblin coupes could be for goblin children, who instead of being raised and nurtured are penned into a cage like yard and left to figure out their own destiny in the coupe
Have them farm Racoons, they can feed them scraps like a pig. The goblins can have their Racoons "graze" by bringing them to cities. Just imagine how heinous a "Racoon Shepard" would be, a delicious amount of chaos! Close second would be squirrels.
Additional race idea down the road, a little on the sci-fi side of things but thought i'd comment for the algorithm anyways: Some sort of spawn of evil, Marvel's Venom-esque creature, that reproduces Xenomorph style (abducts other beings, making them sick, then killing them when the new creature is spawned) Maybe they drop a powerful goo when killed? Idk. Bonus points if they look slightly different depending what race was abducted and used as a host😈 Just found your profile, binged them all, looking forward to the next one!

I like the idea of the farm being a corpse dumping pile with maggots that grow in theme and secrete rot and mucus that can be used for chemical weapons or as mutation food to make goblins extra putrid and deadly. Also they can craft 'rot pots' that they throw at enemies, giving them 'brain rot' which slows them down and causes them, to attack each other, and it ends with them puking it up, losing half their health. Spawner idea: Two goblins enter a mud pit in the ground, and 3 come out. The third is smaller, but grows up after eating rot.
To quote a now infamous doom review from 1994, "lf only you could talk to these creatures, then perhaps you could try and make friends with them, form alliances... Now, that would be interesting." Loving the progress regardless though
One suggestion for the far future would be that goblin houses could use a bit more variation in building material, like some could be built out of mud bricks and straw, stone/cobblestone, or even straight up carving a home into a large enough tree or rock.
Goblins are known to keep Beakdogs and Trolls as livestock. Beakdogs are fantastic sources of food and eggs, while troll hair and troll leather are great for making cloths. They've also been know to keep cave dragons as pets as well, though this is much rarer. Of course, they're all great in combat, too.
You should add higher density housing, each goblin family should have their own home and as these collections of houses get more dense and populations grow they might run out of room, so they replace single family homes with multifamily homes. You could also make more buildings for various functions that a society needs
Silly lil tip for mah video editing bois: if you want to record a smooth scroll, middle mouse click and then mouse down like a couple pixels. Mathemagically smooth scrolling will commence. kbai!
They should keep baby goblins in the coops, also add being able to eat anything. Also if you add accurate wildfires spreading and allowing you to torch settlements with it spreading to the surrounding area based on wind or rain or such that would be lit.
The goblins keep oversized woodbugs in these pens, it both uses them as a source of food and they kill all the wild ones, since their structures are made of wood.
The goblins could raise spiders. This gives them access to silk for cloths, hard chitin for armor and weapons most likely spears and bows, as well as meat, venom, and possibly could be tamed by another subsection of 'farming goblins' who do the farming/animal raising. As well as mounted combat units!
The goblins could collect and farm cockatrices, which are basically just evil fantasy chickens. I think they’d actually be bigger than the goblins, but that would just make it funnier
Skunk husbandry seems befitting because they could use them as stink spray and food. but skunk isn't good meat so it would give them reason to plunder for better things.
one idea for the Goblin fort is have the food and the slave pens close to each other as Goblins likely don't diffrentiate the two slave ARE Food, the barracks/goblin sleeping area would likely be next door to the pens and the slave for easy acces for food or Entertainment. weapons would be near the barrack/den and the Loot in the deepest part to hide from raiders and likely seperated into smaller rooms by rival goblins in the fort. goblins may also have watch towers and trained wild aggressive animals but it depend how many goblin their are in an area and how well they survive.
The obvious thing the goblins have in the coops is a Chraborpion. A chicken rat scorpion hybrid with rat feet, a scorpion tail, chicken mouth with scorpion feeder mandibles on the sides. I suppose a rat body with chicken legs and wings might be more fitting. It might also be called a Schcroat. Scorpion-chicken-rat.
