I agree. Queen fans who saw them at their prime believe they were untouchable. But, give Forestella's version of "Bohemian Rhapsody" a listen. They did it proud. Think Freddie would have approved.

Dimash did not try to outperform Freddy, he respects and admires him very much (as I do). And he didn't want to just copy the Freddie's song, but make it sound different, but still passionate and beautiful. I like both versions and gave likes for both.

Freddy is just one of the top rock singers of all time and Queen had some of the greatest creativity and diversity for a band as almost transcendent any era greatest songs.
Queen is my favorite band of all time and Freddie Mercury is a LEGEND. What he accomplished in his lifetime in music cannot be explained using words. And the fact that Freddie never got the chance to perform this live makes my heart break in tiny little pieces. I will vote for this version every single time. 💗
This song by Queen always makes me emotional ,picturing Freddy so ill while still managing to sing this powerful song ,it is amazing ! But you know I’m going to suggest Dimash’s version as well ! He puts his spin on it and it’s just wow !!! Freddy would have been proud ! Thank you for this contest it will be fun and exciting!

Saw them at their final UK live show in 1986 at Knebworth Park. Best show of my life. The clip in the video of the helicopter over the crowd is the show I went too. Memories still so vivid after all this time
I saw Elton John Live shortly after Freddie died and he covered this song in his encore. Pretty good version as well.

the back story to this recording: It's from the INNUENDO album, recorded when Freddie was very sick [1990 i think] but any day he could he'd come into the studio and record. This was a new song Brian had just finished and he showed it to Freddie on a day when he was really weak and Brian says 'the notes at the end are really killer hard, probably Roger could do them?' Freddie looks the song over, slugs three shots of vodka, says "let's do it darling", and nails it in ONE TAKE! Gawd, he was magnificent❣️ [it's all clips because he was in no shape to be filmed by then, so weak he couldn't stand, grey and thin, damage to his feet and had Karposi's sarcoma, but hell, he could still give a (vocal) show] whatta man he was!
Fan of Queen from before they were famous. This song and "Who wants to live forever?" reduces me to a blubbing wreck. This, because of how ill Freddie was at the time. He told them all to write as much as they could, and he would sing as long as he could, to get as much as possible recorded before he died. Magnificent to the very end. RIP Freddie.

It is impossible to compare Freddie interpretation with other singers. If you know the whole story behind this song, you can realize that no one will be able to sing it with the emotion with which Freddie does, a man who knew he was going to die soon, but never gave up, who kept singing until the end.

Given the context, not sure comparisons can be drawn; Freddie was facing his own mortality and when he sang this, he propped himself up, took a shot of vodka and did it in one take. His body was was failing and he knew it so he poured all his strength into what is a staggering vocal performance
Freddie wrote this when his HIV infection was getting more worse and worse. It's kind of a motivation song for himself to keep on recording stuff as long as he is able to do it. You can imagine, why there is no real video to this, only snipets from other videos. He was not in the condition to go in front of a camera at that stage. The last video clip he did was "These are the days of our lives" as kind of good bye to all the fans. He wore heavy makeup but you can still see and feel how sick he was at that stage.
Freddie and Brian co-wrote it, not Freddie alone. According to the book Queen: All the Songs by Benoît Clerc, Brian wrote most of the lyrics, with Freddie’s input and approval- but those lyrics are very much about the end stages of Freddie’s illness. (Remember that Freddie was deeply ill in the end-stages of AIDS at this time, and his time in the studio was limited to when he could muster up enough strength to be there)
Despite being severely weakened physically by the point this was recorded, Freddie gave it his all and laid down some of his most powerfully beautiful vocals ever.

Similar to you, I grew up during Queen's 'heyday' but did not really listen or appreciate; could have seen them perform, yet truly unaware. Le'sigh... Most amazing group, most amazing musicians/lyricists, most amazing humans. I'm glad to have found your channel!
When Freddie passed the group approached an Australian vocalist John Farnham. It be wonderful if you could react to him. Freddie always said he was the best singer on the planet at that time. Like Morissette only

…And keeping in mind that Freddie was severely (terminally) Ill when he recorded this. (He had to prop himself up on a desk to record because he was too weak to stand very long.) If he had still been in his prime physically, the vocals would’ve been unimaginable! 🤯
I usually don't like the Queen covers and especially not the covers of this song, but Ksana Sergienko did a very good job with the SMGO. Her powerful and raspy vocal is amazing.

I prefer Dimash's collaboration with Super Vocal Boys on the Queen Medley, than Dimash's "Show must go on"... but that ending on "The show must go on" is pure Dimash. Have to say, Ayanga surprised me with his Freddie sound alike vocals on the Queen Medley. Think Debbie would like it. Not sure if she's done Forestella's Queen covers.

I grew up with Queen - they are my favorite band. I would have to say that Freddy is the greatest Rock singer of all times - he had the ability to evoke all your emotions when he would sing, and I can count on one and the singers who are able to do that to me - One of which is a shared favorite - Floor Jansen. No one even comes close to Freddie Mercury. Queen, Pink Floyd, and Nightwish are the bands that stand above them all for me! Covering their songs would seem blasphemous to me, because if you don't have the same format as these artists, you're just messing up their artwork. The only worthy Pink Floyd cover I've ever heard was by Nightwish and Marko. Also Tommy Johansson should also keep his hands off such legends, because he will never reach this format!

But I wonder if you realize that - before even starting out - you’ve already PREDETERMINED the balance of views/comments/Likes that the different videos will get?
What I mean is:
For instance… You’ve already acquired a large base of Dimash viewers, because you’ve already posted half a dozen previous Dimash reactions… So all those Dimash fans will of course vote for him.
(PLEASE NOTE: I’m NOT putting down Dimash! He’s FANTASTIC & TALENTED!)
IN CONTRAST…
Because you have not previously posted ANY reactions to any Queen (preferably LIVE performances rather than studio recordings; Queen is the only group renowned for being BETTER LIVE) …or Freddie Mercury solo performances (including anything from Freddie’s album of OPERA, Barcelona) …you WON’T be having very many folks from the Queen/Freddie Mercury fan base even aware of your contest. (They’re probably not subscribed/your channel might not even show up in their YT algorithms.) The “Queen Army” (as-they-call-it) is HUGE… If you had done any previous reactions to draw Queen fans in the direction of your channel… they’d be here “voting your socks off” right now.
ZERO previous reactions = Not very many folks from a certain fan base even aware or stopping by, so your “voting base” is NOT …evenly distributed, I guess you’d say.
