This is huge for mono shurima. After the restoration of the Sun Disc, Xerath puts the enemy on a timer indipendent of contro or board states.

@@phatedfool Mono Shurima isn't intended to be meta and should never be. It's basically a "roleplay" deck and it now being good is very much enough my dude. And this is coming from a mono Shurima player, it won't feel as niche or as "cool" if you're seeing all these animations all day yk? Kinda like who we don't like Azir now even though he was super cool with Azir Lucian and Mono Shurima back in the days before Irelia
@@ianvera5515 He didn't say it was viable. That being said, Xerath is very disappointing in my book for having to revolve heavily around landmarks. Not only is the archetype one of the weakest in the game, but Xerath is not going to be flexible at all when it comes to deck building.
I wish Xerath would actually have an Arcane Barrage animation when he procs his text.

Another addition to my Movie Time Deck. I hope i can activate the 4 champions level up simultaneously.
We'll make every elusive deck player suffer and cry, one by one (in addition xerath looks perfect for countering those match ups)
Imagine let's say a spell that goes something like "Destroy an ally landmark to have allies strike random enemies"
Have the Sun Disk, this new Sarcophagus landmark (or any other landmark that summons a unit), and all four level-1 ascended champions, destroy the Sarcophagus to summon the last unit needed to level up Azir, Nasus strikes with 10 power, Renek strikes with enough to level up, and Xerath leveling up from the destroyed Sarcophagus.
Ideal situation to have 9 cinematics in a row from a single card! :D
But if we don't get such a spell, I guess we could still at least have them on the same turn maybe

If Azir just told him about his plan literally anytime before the Ascension Ritual instead of always dismissing him when asked about freeing the slaves I am pretty sure Xerath would have been all for instead of orchestrating his own Ascension and the downfall of the Shurimen Empire.

But the whole case scenario means nothing for Riot, so instead they would focus on new champions that are not so connected to the old champions. It's bs, they don't wanna waste their budget on making these kind of events.

I would rather play him with Malphite now too... Xerath incentivizes small cheap Landmarks in large quantities. Taliah wants big impact Landmarks with countdown synergies. Malphite on the other hand levels by exactly doing what Xerath seems he wants to do anyways.
i see him more of a mono shurima card. he levels up in deck . very easy to level and that 7 mana save landmarks and units screams mono shurima.

@@Nuclearburrit0 considering how Azir no longer gives good level 3 inevitability without building really hard around leveling him up, a 1 of Xerath could make a difference.
I see him working well with Swain, Lisandra and Sivir. His damage enemies by destroying land marks makes him a powerful damage generator for Swain and Sivir and his reliant on landmarks makes him a fearsome ramp engine for Lisandra.
God I hope Xerath in LoL gets this voice. Sounds so epic.

I was expecting a re-design and I was not disappointed. Adding the gold lining to the borders of each segment of his sarcophagus adds so much more impact and color contrast than one can even imagine. Additionally, the pillars that his arcane energy destroy in his splash art and Ascension animation just amplify the feeling of immense power as an ascended.

Man, I forgot that Xerath was that big. I thought that he was a small as Azit. He could be a raid boss man, looks sick af in all his levels.
Consedering Xerath is one of the absolute strongest being in the Lore, I kinda wish it was some ultimate high cost mage, even if that would probably mean he would be bad, slow to play, if that allowed him to be the absolute god he deserve to be i would be fine with it, like Aurelion is.
He is pretty powerful but I wouldn't say he is the "absolute strongest being". At least he doesn't rant about Shurima 24/7 like Azir.
He isnt that powerfull, still i think he is the strongest of the shuriman gods. Power similar to A Sol will probably have Aatrox, tho Aatrox would have combat unbeatable power, so its a lot weaker than A Sol creating strongest units for zero mana. I bet they will give him lifesteal but for him only, and when he levels up he becomes World Ender and gets immortality with owerwhelm and huge damage.

i feel like having at least 1 of the 7 cost burst cards in your deck is basically mandatory in Shurima now. Someone could empty their entire hand of spells and traps, and then you just say "Sike"

If you're winning the game, it's a win more uno reverse, or just a single dead card, and if you're losing, it's a 7 mana double up of your board, which is just straight value.

Also there are A LOT of new champions this expansion. I was used to just two or three new ones, maybe a skin.
