There had to be a time handicap if they were tied on time at the end. At no point did Hikaru spend more than a second on any move, while his opponent stopped to think for a few seconds many times.

Yeah, it's a tough one, though. If you don't stick the landing the move is invalidated and you have spent the flip on one of your knights without gaining anything - as you can see in the video.

Incredible game by both. Their speed is amazing. Hikaru missed a fork at 3:54 to capture the rook but I could only tell going through the game slowly. That South African played great! Cool that Hikaru went and played there!

There's no cheating. The move order is 1. Kc4 b3 2. Rc2 h3 3. Kxd4 g4 4. Ke4, it just looks confusing because the pieces are falling over during the sequence

At the end his opponent had 8 seconds and Naka had 9, so I'd say he pretty much matched him on time even though he lost.

Hey, just a question: does the hustler cheat at 4:02 - the king is on white next to the pawn, takes the pawn and then winds up back on white - or is that two moves?
There's no cheating. The move order is 1. Kc4 b3 2. Rc2 h3 3. Kxd4 g4 4. Ke4, it just looks confusing because the pieces are falling over during the sequence
