    How is engineered wood more durable than hardwood?

      No! It cannot be more durable if it's made up of strips of real wood. I agree, there are some comparative advantages such as; smaller and fewer trees are disturbed to have it manufactured. It is designed to IMITATE the natural strength of real wood it cannot be more durable. In fact, the biggest disadvantage is that they are weaker by nature and are prone to humidity and warping and let us not forget how quickly it burns if there's a fire.
