    floating floors don't get nailed hence the word "Floating Floor" at least that's what I was taught.

  • @josephfoster30

    In floating method aren't you supposed to glue the seems?

    • @ringtyler
      @ringtyler 8 лет назад

      Only if the product doesnt have a locking edge, which 99% of floating has now

    After installing the floating floor, does hiding the expansion gap somehow is necessary, or it should be visible?

    • @lowes
      @lowes  7 лет назад +1

      Normally the expansion gap is covered by molding for a more finished look. Thanks for watching.

    • @fragphil
      @fragphil 7 лет назад +2

      Péter Balogh If the crown molding is still on the wall prior to installallation leave a little less than 1/4" for expansion and hide it with quarter round. Then all is well!

    HOW CAN YOU CALL THIS A FLOATING FLOOR WHEN YOU NAIL OR GLUE IT TO FLOOR.
    I DON'T SEE HOW IT FLOATS.

    • @lowes
      @lowes  8 лет назад +3

      +Ughh61 sorry for any confusion. This series covers 3 methods of installing engineered hardwoods; this video (Part 1) specifically is a floating floor. Part 2 covers glue down and nail down.
      Thanks for watching.

    I am installing a 3/8" thick tongue and grove engineered flooring. I plan on nailing through the tongue as you show, but not sure if I should use 16 or 18 gauge nails ? Help anyone?

    My acacia engineered hard wood floors from Allen Roth are creaking every where! I spent so much money had it professionally installed according to floating instructions. The creaking is unbearable! Any one else has this happening? If it should be glued down then it should say so. Still trying to get Lowes to call me back to send a rep to see it first hand. I’m sick to my stomach with every step i take in y home.
