  • As the title says. This is the well known 'Halleluiah Chorus' (#44) from Handel's Oratorio 'Messiah'. The choir performing is from Cavite City and was performed immediately after the recessional on Easter Vigil. It is a tradition in the Philippines after the conclusion of Easter Vigil to have a fireworks display for the presentation of the Risen Lord and the Halluliah Chorus was sung and piped over outdoor PA during the fireworks (similar to a 'grand finale' on a USA fourth of July fireworks show. That is the reason for the 'banging' sounds in the performance. This was performed on the recently restored (2006) Pels & Sons four-manual pipe organ of 104 ranks at the Manila Cathedral, Basilica Minor of the Immaculate Conception, Intramuros, Manila, Republic of the Philippines. This is the largest pipe organ in all of Southeast Asia. For more detailed information on the pipe organ to include the stop list and details on the restoration project, please visit www.manilacathedral.org.
