Thank you, Jinne. It would be so great if you could do a video on how to make our own antibiotics, drawing salve, and any other creams, salves or tinctures you may have in your arsenal 😊
a couple years ago I found a glass thermometer in a thrift store, one of my best thrift store finds. I use my quarterly health insurance's spending allowance to get qualifying first aid and hugiene items and supplements
An elderly friend said to use either cayenne or sugar on wounds to clot bleeding, depending on where on the body the cut is. My son got a bad cut and used a paste of cayenne and colloidal silver and it worked really well. The sugar is easily absorbed to your body and will not be a problem if you need stitches. Doctors don't like flour in a wound when stitching.
Yes I'my herbal book it says cayenne can stop bleeding anywhere in the body. So can take on capsules. You can put directly on bleeding wounds but be prepared... It burns on an open wound. But if you can stand it it will stop the bleeding almost immediately!!!
Here is a couple more ideas for you. White long grain rice for rice water as they will rehydrate. Honey for sore throats and wound care and regular tea bags for treating hemorrhoids better than Prep.H
I found out recently that while tending a large wound for my hubby, you dont have as many first aid supplies as you think you do. Stock to the rafters, just in case. Non-stick gauze pads weren't mentioned. I went through a ton of those. ❤ Thanks, Jinne. Always appreciate your videos.
Very true! I stocked up on feminine products from Dollar tree for large wound care because my late husband took blood thinners and we always went thru a lot of gauze pads etc whenever he cut himself and they are really cheap ( a whole pack of liners for $1.25 - you can't beat that)
I bought colloidal silver for wounds. I saw from another channel that colloidal silver is much better than hydrogen peroxide...it doesn't dry out skin.
Outstanding video. I love reading all of the additional tips in the comments. We stock our medical kits based on our experience and knowledge. We encourage everyone to get some advanced First Aid training.
I bought fish antibiotics including metronidazole for UTIs which will happen a lot in women during a grid down situation. Pyridium will also be important for UTIs. Many of the medications sold by Jace have OTC equivalents that work just as well, some can be found at dollar tree. An enema kit can be used to rehydrate a patient that can't keep anything down. Many meds can be given rectally as well. My doctor swears by black seed cumin oil for respiratory infections. Steri straps and tegaderm for cuts. Afrin can slow bleeding, super glue can be used to close cuts. Betadine is good for wounds as well as colloidal silver.
Bandanas would be good for slings, etc. Also foot powder/foot cream. I also keep a couple of sewing needles in my first aid kit, for digging out splinters.
Thank you for this video I need to add a few items. Benadryl can be given to your dog if it is having an allergic reaction. My lab was 80 pounds bee sting under nose. His lip and nose really swelled. Called vet he said give him 2 Benadryl, which worked well. Ask your vet what dose would be best for your dog size and weight. Eye drops to flush the eye if irritated from debris or smoke.
Great list! I recently saw some burn cream while waiting for a prescription at Walgreens, so added some to my first aid supplies. Something else to think about are a suture kit/butterflies (Steri Strips) and Second Skin ( the little tubes of super glue at Dollar Tree will work). Make sure you know what you are doing before suturing a wound. It's not as easy as it looks. I know a lot of people have different opinions about this, but keep some masks in your kit.... both for yourself and others who may be ill.
Great tips Jinne...thank you. Someone in comments asked for a recipe for homemade antibiotic salve... I had just watched a video earlier today and posted the link under her comment... I hope that was ok.
I have to say, I watch and stop when you mention items, check my stash, and if I don't have it, I add it to my list. Thanks for all your great info, Jinne!
My tweezers have a light on it it's awesome. Have to add bleed stop have a lot of what you said. Thank you so much. So happy my DTs are getting in the wound care kits they are great highly recommend.😊
I found stitch less dressings all types of dressings, bleed stop, anti diarrhea, books on remedies, honey is good antibiotic, hand sanitizer, snake bite kit, Thank You Jesus for mothers who are home nurses, found cheap sterile skin stapler for wound closure one use but 6.00 so bought 5. Iodine, steri strips, maxi pads and tampons can use to close important is love and help each other. Anyone have a good idea for organizing bandages and gauze pads of varying sizes. I like to quickly see what I have instead of storing everything in boxes. Thanks
Very helpful list, Jinne! Thank you so much for this video. I’m going to go back three your videos to see if I can find recipes for a drawing salve and antibiotics ointment. Where would we be without you?❤️🇺🇸
@@sandysmith8567 Also for waterborne diseases-if the grid went down and treatment plants weren't running people could get very sick just from the water so anti diarrhea meds will be a must to keep the person from getting severely dehydrated due to diarrhea.
Bentonite clay is a good thing for drawing out small splinters and bee and spider venom. I ordered a jar of Bentonite clay from Redmond Salt. It is a powder and adding a little water to a little clay makes a good paste.
I believe Prid is a drawing salve. I purchased at Walmart. My husband is a diabetic and it helps heal the sores he gets. They would stay for a long time and a veteran that was a diabetic mentioned it to me.
@@carolynburge8225They are able to be useful several ways. They protect bedding and other surfaces from bodily fluids. They will help diminish major spill related messes, and will provide an impromptu suitable surface for wound dressing bandaging and will help keep bandages dry besides their intended pet use.
A Tourniquet should only be used as a last result, when hand pressure isn't working or the bandage is soaked and blood running. Tourniquets can be dangerous! Please research so you know how and when to use and not use. 🙏🙌❤️

I can suture with a fish hook after I clip off the barbs....I have the catgut/thread. Sand the fish hook before using it. Sanitize hook and wound....

We'll be getting that allowance soon . 👍🏻

Empty plastic squeeze bottles with the pointed tips and a cap are good for flushing out eyes or wounds. Fill with sterilized water would be best.

Itch cream for rashes
Also Desitin for rashes any where on body, very healing also, not just for babies behinds lol!
How about some sort of magnifying lens to go with the tweezers! 😆 Also, maybe a splint would be handy too
Ive seen a finger splint made from using a popsicle stick. Just saying....
@@Monkchip yes! And you can use pieces of wood for a leg splint if you have any laying around that you can cut to size.

Magnifying glass also works great for a fire starter so definitely a great item for a get home bag/medical kit
For the old time glass thermometers, check medical supply sites & even livestock supply sites.

What kind of antibiotics are good for someone with a penicillin allergy??
You are better off finding an all natural antibiotic. If you are allergic to one antibiotic, chances are you will be allergic to more.
Anti diarrhea meds
Yes, I've thought of all the changes that may come in our diet if something drastic did happen. Our guts would definitely suffer.

Beta dine spray (iodine) will kill anything in a wound after it has been cleaned out. Cleaning is not enough.
All great ideas! Can any share what a drawing salve might be? And where to purchase an old school thermometer? 👍💪❤️🙏
