I probably shouldn’t feel this way but as someone born and bred in Birmingham, UK. This show makes me proud… 😅😂. Absolutely LOVING these reactions guys love from England 😁🏴❤️
That negotiation conversation between Alfie and Tommy is my favorite scene of the whole series. So intense, yet they shake hands and walk out like it was any other casual agreement. Such remarkable acting between the two. And Alfie steals every scene he is in as always.
There's a reason Tommy continues to engage with Alfie despite so many betrayals..... at the end of the day, he's the only man who reminds Tommy of himself. It really is just business, so yeah, its a casual agreement lol because it actually is between these two crazy dudes haha
Without giving any spoilers, there's a piece in the next season between Tom Hardy and Cillian Murphy that is the best piece of acting I've ever seen anywhere.
So many iconic memorable scenes in this finale: Two of them being Polly shooting Campbell, then saying, "Don't f**k with the Peaky Blinders"; and Tommy's calling bluff then negotiating down from Solomon's 100% scene. Lol. Just epic!
So...a little history...Cillian Murphy is from County Cork in Ireland...the man Tommy assassinated was based on a real life man, Henry Hughes Wilson who was one of the leading voices for martial law in Ireland...and supportive of the atrocities committed against the Irish (particularly heinous in Cork...like the burning of Cork) by the various military factions put in place by the British...his assassination came 6 days before the official start of the Irish Civil War. A couple of years earlier, notice was posted that Cork men seen with their hands in their pockets were to be shot...and, to this day many Irish men, especially from Cork, will keep their hands in their pockets in the presence of British officials...like when Cillian Murphy met Prince Harry at the Dunkirk premier in London. For more Cillian and more information about this time in Irish history, I suggest watching The Wind That Shakes the Barley...just have the tissues handy.
Nikki you got it: when Tommy tells Campbell he knows what happened with Polly and what happened to Michael in prison....if you remember when he was released he had been beaten and the insinuation is that much worse happened to him at the instigation of Campbell...
Why do you Irish like to play the victim 😂 I no my ancestors dominated your but come on it’s bloody sad get over it but then again you Irish our EU lapdogs 🤢🤮
@@jackthehat1093 He’s suffering from PTSD from World War 1 , what they would have called then Shell Shock, he would have flash backed and thought he was fighting to the death in the trenches
Grace was not in the dark. She used to spy on Shelbys + had intel on them from Campbell. AND she was used before by Tommy for business. She knows. And, weirdly, also accepts their business. Obviously she didn't know what was going to happen at that moment, but she knows business is always happening. She just demanded not to be ignored. I would imagine hearing you're pregnant after years of trying is kind of shocking and you might feel it trumps any business ordeal. She couldn't know Tommy was walking into his death. That's how I see it anyways. It can be interpreted many ways.
I have one problem with Peaky Blinders. It has turned every other drama into mediocre at best by comparison. And it gets better and better. Steven Knight, the writer, is awesome. By the way, respect for Sam Neil as Campbell.
I’m so happy you guys love this series, a year ago Steven was streaming and I asked if you were going to watch it but he said no, glad to see that changed for the better 😂
Let the cat into the room lol. Great reaction Btw, and keep in mind when you think that something is going to happen Tommy has a plan and the gypsy luck on his side and twists that sht around. Love it.
Your cat was not happy to be excluded from this excellent finale! I remember how STRESSED I was at that grave scene when it first aired. Heart was in my mouth. What a show
Yeah man. Alfie Solomons. Fucking ace every time, I wish he was in more because he's one of the best characters on TV. Every scene he and Tommy share is the best in the show.
Tommy wouldn’t abandon his baby. Polly getting hers. Was so satisfying. Also think about it, Churchill just made a play as well. The person above him wanted Tommy dead, but Churchill intervened. I can’t wait for y’all to watch season 3&4.
The red right hand symbol is widely used by both religious sides in Northern Ireland. It was also used to mean Divine Justice in Milton's poem, Paradise Lost.
You never noticed, he has three women seriously in love with him. Enough said, you'll findout but I noticed it from the first season. Doesn't get me a cookie though🤣🤣🤣
Okay. As great as this episode was, my favorite part of this video was Nikki's face and the awed almost dumbstruck look after the incident where Tommy's life was spared. Seriously Nikki, go back and watch your reaaction after that. Steven is talking and you are just blank. It was epic!!
in my headcanon, Churchill already decided to execute Campbell either the first meeting over Tommy's letter of demands, seeing how petulant and out of line he got, more keen on making TOmmy suffer and die over doing his job, or the second time they meet to discuss it. Thomas proved capable of adapting and doing the work, while in Churchill's eyes, MAJOR Campbell has proven incapable and a liability. And I still whole heartedly endorse May and THomas over Grace. they were so much better for each other.
If you weren't already aware, Michael was also SA'd in prison, hence his attitude. It ain't specifically said but the actor mentioned it in a tweet and verified it
In the war in Ukraine, Ukraine's warriors wear badges connected to their units. I noticed one fontine group in a very hot war area has a very clear b & w image of Tommy Shelby, face partly facing down, fiery eyes looking forward under his cloth cap, on their badge
A red hand has been a symbol of various Northern Ireland Protestants violently opposed to being part of the Ireland that became independent in 1921, it both predates that and is still around with the remnants of the ‘Loyalist’ groups including terrorist ones, especially rampant from the late 1960’s, through the Troubles up to the 1998 Good Friday Agreement. The song wasn’t about them but fits in with this plot line.
The Red Hand is rooted in Gaelic culture as the sign of a great warrior. It is believed to date back to pagan times. It's been culturally appropriated by loyalist terrorists as well as the attempt to claim Cú Chulainn another ancient Irish warrior as theirs also, like the land, they steal what's not theirs.
Nikki, all the music in this show is from "Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds." An Aussie band that truly deserves your further attention. Also, "Don't fuck with the Peaky Blinders" is the best line from the show. Prove me wrong.
Grace saw Tommy kill a man and didn’t get scared off. She KNOWS what Tommy does, and she doesn’t care. She loves him anyway. In the moment she just wanted him to know that they’re having a baby 🤷♀️
After watching these I always have to go listen to VOLBEAT's song Cheapside Sloggers, "The blood is painting the streets again, with hammers and razor blades, thieves and riots are our daily bread, the Peaky Blinders prevail".
You mever see the twist coming but in hindsight it makes perfect sense. Campbell was a blunt instrument who's only real skill was brutality while Tommy was a master strategist who kept running rings around him despite all the support the government gave Campbell. Why wouldn't Churchill a famously hard nosed pragmatic man not choose to keep Tommy a fellow soldier and effective operative instead of a man he didn't respect didn't trust and constantly screwed up missions persuing personal Vendetta's. Tommy easily commands respect even from his enemies while Campbell is a laughing stock even to his own men and no one trusts the lying piece of filth because he's never made a promise he wouldn't break for a copper penny.
Polly did mention to Campbell when she walked in that Tommy agreed she should be the one to kill him. The ending with Tommy not getting shot was nerve racking. Tommy getting married ❤️
The level of immeasurable respect Alfie gains for Tommie over the course of their relationship is beautiful to watch. "Like you're digging yourself out now"
I would like to point out that out of the 3 women Tommy interacted with in this episode, Lizzie was the only one he was honest with and relied on entirely for his plan.
Well, Grace wasn't meant to be there for Tommy's plan and May only had very indirect and largely coincidental involvement. Lizzie was an employee for the company, and likely had no say in the moment. But Tommy would have faith in her, as like him, she once survived the streets of Birmingham by doing things many wouldn't.
@@Anino_Makata he also had Lizzie write the letter to Churchill earlier in the season when he kept his involvement with Churchill a secret from his entire family, that's a lot of trust, I would say more trust than he put in any single character.
Peaky Blinders is awsome!!! But pls watch The Fall psychothriller tv-series (Jamie Dornan & Gillian Anderson), and True Detective season 1 😍My fav TOP 3 series!
