I watched this video this afternoon and felt inspired to go try a Mizuno Hi-Fli cut muscle 2 iron that I got out of a set purchase. On the 8 hole one of my playing partner takes out this Titleist 2 iron. I instantly said, that iron is the reason why I am out here right now to try out this Mizuno 2 iron and see if I would like the Titleist 2 iron. He loves Mizuno and instantly said let's trade. Best day at the golf course. Another plus is that later I found out he was an ex NFL player. Very nice gentleman and had a blast playing with him and I got his 2 iron. Crazy day.
I've been looking at buying a driving iron and I think this video has cemented the fact. Thanks again Simon for another good video. I'm a Titleist man through and through so the TMB it will be.
I have the TM B second hand. Its a game changer in a way a Driver can't because it goes straight in comparison. In the summer the lost of distance isn't an issue. Fairway finder for sure.
I replaced my 712 MB 3 iron with the 716 TMB 3 iron, it launches a bit higher and has become my go to for the short, par 4's. Usually get anywhere from 190 (C game) - 230ish (A game), but in the fairway 90% of the time. It's not leaving the bag anytime soon.
Play both of these clubs depending on bag setup but in the 3 and 4 iron - Srixon zu85 3 iron - solid off the tee - patchy on the fairway due to sole width and more offset than I love but when it goes it goes 716 TmB - 4 iron - Modus 105 - experimenting between set 4 iron (MP59 S300), Tmb and 22 degree hybrid (M6) Always liked TmB as its not too chunky despite being a high 'capper - TmB certainly flies but can get a it high and floaty but is more forgiving than Mp59
I've been using a U500 and it's my favorite club off the tee. There's just so many times where I feel like if I just push or pull my M6 enough, even though it's forgiving it's going long enough to put me in a bad position.
Simon: Idea; Two of the same driver, same specs, same shaft, one shaved face, the other, OEM spec. See if shaved face really makes a huge distance difference. This would be fun to see.
How does it compare to the new ping g410 crossover I swing that and hit it well but since I'm left handed that is the only one I have found to try would like something that's a good value second hand.
I dont have the 2 iron. But But I have 3iron in both 718 and 716 yes two. But i have 2 sets of clubs one in locker and one for away days. Duff it it still goes forward
Simon what is the difference between purchasing a used iron and a demo iron off Ebay to put in your bag? Would you recommend or advise against buying a demo/fitting iron.
Loving the content Simon, I am a keen golfer and my wife is keen to take up golf (complete beginner) but we're having a nightmare finding her clubs as she's left handed, any suggestions of where to look?
My wife is a lefty, but has right handed clubs. It'll probably be easier to just get your wife to go righty, since she's a complete beginner. Why torture yourself trying to find ladies lefty clubs?
I've always thought of having an 2 iron. I can't hit a driver and struggling with woods and hybrids. But my iron's I'm hitting really great. I think I need to get a 2 iron. I'm a 35 handicapper I can hit a really good long ball. What's your thought on this Simon? ATM I'm using a 5 iron to tee off.
Try one out before you buy one, driving irons are traditionally for lower handicapers, however if you hit them better than hybrids then there's no reason not to use a long iron.

Picked up a Mizuno Fli hi 19 degree 3 iron. Love it. Agree with you. Great confidence off the tee.

I have the entire 718 T-MB set 2i, 4-PW and they are a great set. Got the 4-PW at a steal of around $800 brand new this past winter.
Those initial shots were insane. Wow. Awesome
i love the dedication to film in the rain! awesome man

Great strategy that saves you a lot of strokes.

Brilliant Video
great video thanks
I’ve got this in the bag. It’s a beast. I think the 712u is better looking though
My TMB is definitely my go to club off the tee box. Especially on those tight holes and it's usually more than enough distance on most par 4s.
I bought a ping rapture 2 iron for £80 and it goes great but I like my titleist u510 1ron, you cannot beat a good drive with an iron
p790 UDI favorite club in the bag
Picked up a bargain set of 714 ap2 5-pw on eBay and the guy chucked in t mb 4 iron. It's my favourite of the lot and goes miles.
That was nice of the seller to throw in a $160 club with the set. Like the 4 for you, I love my TMB 3 iron.
Srixon on making quality irons , keep ur eyes peeled for second hand sets !
Ps
Who's Jim ??
Mate love the intro 😂🏌🏻♂️⛳️

Please compare ist to cobras Utility iron with adjustable hosel......a beauty
I prefer the look of the srixon tbh 👍
Just picked up a Titleist u510

iv not long put the taylormade udi2 iron in my bag and iv took the driver out the bag
Surprised the clubs didn’t go flying through the air , that much water on the grips and hands ,how forgiving the Sirixon ?
I bought a 712U. Would you say it performs the same as a 718 Tmb
I would like to know that aswel Henry

Hey Simon! Why did you stopped training for Long Drive? Miss those vids.
I’m quite a new golfer and I’m struggling with confidence on my driver would it be worth looking into a 2 iron?
Was it raining ? I didn't realise until you said !! Good job you're not a fair weather golfer !
i have a srixon 2 iron, I wish I could hit it!

I've been seeing some unbelievable reviews of Tour Edges new Utility/Driving Irons. MySpy said it's hands down the best UI/DI on the market?
I have an mph5 2i, 3i, 4i. I don't know? I just don't like these hollow irons? They feel terrible to me.
I treated myself to that very iron a few weeks back, its a great club and goes like a missile.
I wanna hit those new sim driving irons so bad
Short answer?
...
No.
Srixon has it beat in looks all day.
17 degree hybrid or driving iron? Ego says driving iron brain says hybrid I'm tawn where to go
