- Join me as I travel back in time to Edo period in Edo Wonderland and experience the traditional Japanese life and culture.
Edo Wonderland Nikko Edomura (江戸ワンダーランド 日光江戸村, is a Japanese cultural theme park in the Kinugawa Onsen area of Nikkō, Tochigi. The park resurrects and showcases the life and culture of the Edo period (1603 - 1868).
The park's design is based on the Edo period's golden era known as Genroku. Edo Wonderland hosts a wide variety of Edo period architecture from rural lodgings to urban samurai residences and government buildings. It is populated by staff in Edo period attire, reenacting the speech and behaviour of Edo era citizens from lower, middle and upper classes. The park has seven theatres featuring traditionally themed shows including plays, ninja action and oiran shows combined with outdoor live shows, street performances, parades, seasonal festivals and special events. Edo Wonderland also has a range of visitor experiences for adults and children including ninja workshops, Japanese traditional archery and shuriken throwing.
You can dress up as an Edo Period character at Henshin Costume House then walk around in the costume.

Arigatou ☺️🙏 oiran parade is normally done sa streets sa labas, but it rained so it was held inside a hall. It’s more stunning if done outside, but shoganai 😆

Love this video with the scenery. How were you able to do this video with so few people in those locations? Did you make the video while everyone was sleeping? I expected to see large crowds. Without crowds, I would really love to visit these places you show here. I really love the traditional looking buildings and streets. I also love seeing the men and the ladies in the traditional clothing. Thanks again for this and your other videos.
Old Japanese and Chinese movies seem to be all that I watch these days. I have been watching a number of movies some of which include movies of Miyamoto Musashi and those of "Lone wolf and cub". I particularly like the movies of the late 1940s, the 1950s and 1960s. "The Sea of Trees"(2015) and "Trees"(2016) in Aokigahara are the most modern ones I have seen.
Hi, I’m sure you’ll enjoy the place. There are some areas that I wasn’t able to go, especially those where you can actually have an actual experience like the archery hall, ninja maze, shuriken and ninja training hall, it must be fun especially for the boys 😊
It was not really crowded that time. The oiran parade must have been stunning if done outdoor but unfortunately it rained 😂
the crowd could take a closer look of the characters with their great costumes as they do their procession on the streets with the traditional buildings.
@drinkingstar If you're thinking of going to Edo Wonderland, totally take the route in the vid. There's an alternate path that leads over the smaller bridge when the boats pass under. Take the right path just after some hotel. In the vid, I think the route taken was along a highway. After the smaller bridge, you'll be in a residential area and walk for another kilometer or 2 and be at the front gate of the park.
As for crowds, from what I understand, this place isn't very popular, so it's often somewhat empty. It was the day I went. It's great if you want to get pics without a lot of other people. I'd say the area covers around 5 football/soccer fields, so it's quite big.
@@ttman1233 Thank you for that information.
