By far you do the best bike build videos. Anybody can make a video assembling a bike, but the extra time you spend on the voice over is great and what makes you better than all the rest. Cute Thief cameos are always a bonus as well. Nothing like a well dressed kitter to class up any occasion.
Feels like barely yesterday that you were building your yellow 23 model! Glad you're doing better now. That colourway is almost identical to the Cannondale Chromalusion Purpleen paint of the 1999/2000 model runs I believe. Very cool and very retro. Nice build
Since you’ve never owned a pair of Deathgrips, I’d recommend loosening them again and hammering them on. They have a chamfered plastic core that gets tighter at the end to stop twisting at the end of the grip, therefore you have to absolutely slam them on. Just letting you know as I’ve had 2 grips snap due to not being on fully! Other than that, top class video as per usual
Love the colours of the new build love the yellow one aswell! I would love to add a trails bike to the shed to try just need to sneak it past the wife haha 😆
Take a deep breath! 26 inch trials are the best? Absolutely! I like the purple seat and galaxy grips, the colour seems really nice but I still think the orange metallic was my fave, although I have a red one and I've come to like it a lot.
Oh yeah forgot to say, I can't remember the bike but that spacer has something to do with adjusting stem height without faffing with the brake routed through the steerer
Se ve MARAVILLOSA!!! la posición de manejo, es increíble, el diaeño!! Muy buena, los frenosss!! Uhhhh. hice trial años a tras. Lo AMO. Y ESTA BICI!!! HA SIDO UNO DE MIS SUEÑOS SIEMPRE. TE MANDO un gran abrazo desde Argentina Patagonia!!!
My everything feels wrong for not bleeding and the 2 piston brakes but if it works, it works. Good stuff ali Edit: I just saw the final build it looks so good, love the derker colors for a change
Very classy build Ali. I love the addition of the color with the chair but I think you need to bring that color forward into the handles to make it really pop. I am looking forward to seeing you get after it on this gem. On another note I have chronic pain due to many injuries and the lack of a disk between L4 & L5. I empathize with your situation Sir. and I hope you have better luck with it than I have had. After a decade and a half of this my phycology has changed under the constant pressure of pain. The only relief I feel any more is riding my bikes. Not being a religious man I don't pray much but in this case I do in fact pray that your neck heals and you do not have to experience what I have. Give the cute thief a cuddle for me. Cheers - M
Much appreciated!! I really hope you can one day get totally pain free! As for colour, I did want some matching grips but the Cute Thief couldn’t find anything that matched :(
I laughed wayyyyyyyyy too much at the hacksaw oneshotting the steerer tube like that, and then the filing work afterwards hahah, having spent many, many, many hours hacksawing away at steerer tubes, bars and seatposts over the years this just really tickled me! Love your build videos Ali as others have said they are the most fun to watch that i've found on youtube!
@@Ali_Clarkson My pipe cutter can do up to 4mm thickness. Worked for everything on my bikes so far. Ok, for me it's just easier to use a pipe cutter and no mess to clean after. Your cutting guides look good :)
its not just two but three times that bike was mentioned, i believe that bike was also mentioned when you with seth from berm peak(seth bike hacks) in a bike event where you also discuss about your "homemade chain tensioner" on that bike
Loving the new bike if you want a slight bit more colour pop use some coloured cranks or hubs etc to make it pop in places like your seat if you got hope brakes you could match the seat
Easy trick for scribing lines: Mark with a sharpie first, then scratch a line. Better contrast! Also, for tubeless tape to conform to rim bed better, heat rim with a heat gun.
No for a couple of reasons. They use a sprag clutch bearing which concentrates all the torque forces into the outer bearing race. This has to be made of steel and be overbuilt to take the forces so end up considerably heavier than other hubs (and if not then they simply won’t cope with trials torques). Previous hubs I’ve tried felt a bit spongy too, like the chain was stretching but that was a long time ago and I’ve never actually felt what an Onyx hub feels like
Yeah this colour is waaaaay better, get the feeling they don’t sell many yellow bikes last year. That rear tyre looks pretty similar to a holy roller is it with the knobs cut down? Great looking bike!
Impressive Good Sir! It's like Aston Martin/Lamborgini Chameleon Paint! Almost British Racing Green to Purple, it's dark without being boring! Ah the Bi-Monthly Shower too, Shower or Hose Pipe though!? Does your Mrs catch you off guard in the garden or do you behave?
@@Ali_Clarksonthat's pretty harsh, I get it though keep the water bills down. Hose pipes waste so much water especially if you leave them running whilst you're soaping up y'know? 😂
Awesome build..... A weird thing regarding you video, I am subscribed and have notifications turned on, but it seems I never got a notification about this video, just by chance I saw it in my youtube feed.
Nice color, but Inspired should offer the burgundy from a few years back as a permanent option. Also wish Trial Tech would make that stem in a 35 mm version, the bars are so much stiffer.
You don't need any 'childs' - you have the cute thief... and it is perfectly legal to leave a cat at home alone for hours or days at a time when you go off riding... unlike human children... Such detail in this build... even the chain gets its own suspension system...
Indeed, I have cracked two alloy XC frames through the tube, just in front of the rear disk calliper mount. Can’t recommend XC frames for back hops when you weigh 100kg.
Hey Ali! As an OG, I remember another yellow frame you had in the past. Maybe you didn't keep it for long but you rode a yellow Flow for a while did you not?
The bike is looking awesome, I've seen a couple in person, such a nice colour that's a bit different to the norm. Do you use the pads the brakes come with or swap them out?
Ah yes, I don’t really consider that a bike I really owned though, I got it just to do a video on it and advertise it rather than because I really wanted one
Nice one! Would like to ask a few stuff: What rims are these exactly? How do you decide rim tape width for tubless? And how is it possible to fit the 22t Inspired chainring on a Shimano crank? P.S.: I hope you never run out of jokes! :)
So the rims are DT (forgotten the model name sorry but they’re about 35mm wide). I kinda just wing it with rim tape width, as long as it isn’t TOO wide then I don’t have any problems. Inspired now made a Shimano specific bash to suite the newer cranks with removable spiders :) Jokes? I don’t joke around, these are serious videos!
@@Ali_Clarkson Thank you for the answers! I do always a bit wider tape than the inside width of the rim, so the bed inside wont be too flat, that helps to keep mounting the tire easier. Oh, I need to look for that than! Love Shimano cranks. 🙂 Excuse me, Sir, than I hope you keep up that serious tone in your videos! 😺 Oh, yeah, and nice t-shirt!
Hmm no I don’t, the hole you thread the hose through is only slightly larger than the hose, if you push anything wider than the hose into it you won’t get it out of the tool :(
I have a specific the cutting tool from Schwalbe, it’s essentially a pair of snips with a depth gauge so the cuts are consistent…still takes a while, this full tyre took about an hour
why would you cut the stem? fit can't matter that much. just get a larger spacer underneath instead or stack two. some previous owner of my Surly fork did some cutting for a Giant frame to hop around with and now I need a riser.. well I got a 45mm riser bar
I’m quite picky about my bar height, I knew where I wanted it to be so there was no point having the extra steerer, it’s pretty normal to cut them down
Big rotors can be easier to bend but they have more power plus the amount the wheel moves at the outer edge due to pad movement is reduced the bigger the rotor gets
Wait?? Beryllium sealant?? You said atomic number 4 right?? That's beryllium, just curious if you said it right or it was a mistake, correct me if I'm wrong😅

Hope you made sure those DeathGrips were tapped on all the way or the DMR lads'll tell you off!
I didn’t at first but when I felt my bars were suddenly super wide I realised they were a tighter fit than usual haha
As others may have mentioned, you need to bash deathgrips on with a mallet, as they are tapered inside for extra security.
I realised this once I felt my bars had magically grown a lot wider 😂
Love the bike❤ the grips are good but the inner plastic of the grips crackes very fast in a crash 😒 had 3 pairs in 1.5 year or sow 💁
