Very helpful video, thank you! Do you have a video you would recommend for learning (practicing) tweaking and shaping wire? I'm a pro at mangling but would like to better shape 😆
Glad you found this video helpful! I understand the struggle of learning to control wire. It's a tricky medium to work with. I do not have a video that's specific to shaping, but I do talk a lot about shaping wire and I demonstrate various techniques for doing so in all of my jewelry tutorial videos. So, I would simply recommend working through as many of jewelry projects as you can. And not just from my channel, but from other channels as well. If you go to the main page of my channel and scroll down to the bottom of that page, you'll find a handful of other wire jewelry channels that I recommend. They're all from artists who have styles that are very different than mine. And they're all good at clearly demonstrating their own techniques.
Love this!! Do you have tips for regular wire wrapping say for wrapping beads onto earring loops and finishing the wire end without having the end show or get caught?
Hey, Debbie. I'm not quite sure I understand what you're asking for. But I do have a tutorial for making bead-wrapped ear wires. Here's a link to the free version of that tutorial on my blog. door44studios.com/beaded-marquis-ear-wires-wirework-basics-tutorial/ If that's not what you have in mind, let me know. I'm sure I can help once I understand what you're looking for.
I don't do anything fancy. I keep all my working spools of wire on an inexpensive IKEA picture ledge that sits on my desk. It's just wide enough that I can fit about 10 spools of various gauges, and I generally only keep one spool of each wire gauge on hand at any given time. I also only use round wire, so that helps keep my inventory to a minimum, and I live in a dry climate (Colorado), which helps keep oxidation to a minimum as well.
Great tips! Thanks
You're welcome. 😊

How do you store your wire?
