I learn so much...especially by stopping and starting the video..THANKS for sharing your knowledge!! I have been doing silver and gold smithing for years and now am cramped for space so wrapping is a perfect way to be creative without having to use heat( soldering etc) .. fun..Thanks again, As soon as I feel more adept I'll use silver and gold wire, and stones I have cut..love doing the lapidary part of jewelry making..!

These videos are so great!
If you're still doing videos: my biggest problems with wire wrapping (what keeps me from really being able to produce work that I'm proud of) are how to connect pieces or finish off ends without having an excess of loops and whorls everywhere, or janky wrapping where I've tried to connect two pieces. I haven't yet gotten the hang of doing it cleanly. Any tips would be amazing!

Thanks for this video! I was wondering if you could make a quick tip video about creating new layers? I've tried doing this a couple of times now, and found that while the result was pleasing enough, they always looked more interesting on the other (i.e. the "wrong") side. Thanks.

I would like to know what formula you use to "guesstimate" the length of wire needed for a project! Bet I'm not alone!
clarity4tm Honestly, I don't have one. I very rarely have anything in mind when I begin, so whatever length of wire I cut dictates the end result. Usually my goal is to cut a particular amount and keep going until I use it up and see where that leads me. Sometimes I finish it early and waste a bit of wire. There is sadly no formula involved :D

Joy Jones I find a LOT of talented glass workers on Facebook (many of them only sell in Facebook groups). Groups have been a big source for me.

Hi, I love your work! I think it's amazing and how easy you make it look. I've just started wire wrapping and the metal that I'm using is stainless steel. Prehaps not such a great wire to start with. I find it is extremely difficult to shape as it is so hard after I've weaved it. What other metal can I use which will not be so hard to curve? It has to be a metal that is good to use for people who are allergic to metals. I was told stainless steel and silver...also how do you secure the stone within the weaved wire?
Louise Caruana Thank you! In this particularly case, the stone is a bead, so the stone isn't actually "captured" in or under the weave. I do have some PDF tutorials on my site, and will be doing a video class soon on setting cabochons with weaves, but currently no RUclips videos.
I would recommend copper. Copper contains no nickle (oddly enough, silver has more nickle in it than copper... which is it's own element). Though copper will turn skin colors, it's not harmful, and is aesthetic only, so it's great for sensitive skins. Bronze is another option, though I find it's just as difficult to work with as something like steel.
Thank you for this advice, Can you use liver of sulphur on the copper? I have actually purchased a couple of your PDF's so I will use those to practice. Can you please inform me when you plan on doing the video class would love to see it.

How to you add more wire if you need it?
I have another short video up showing (briefly) how to add more weaving wire. Adding base wires, however, is usually entirely dependent on the design.
do you use wire with or without insulation?
Dado Bojanic this looks like raw copper wire, which is what is needed if you wish to add a patina or oxidize the piece

Finding design alternatives when the wire is just to short to go where you want it to... LOL That would be a great quick tip. I have several pendants that I had to find ways to add new wires into because they existing ones were to short. Now they look.... bulky... And just ewwww. The flow isn't there.

You know, how they look in your hands or scaled up against something like a dime or a coin.... your pictures are amazing, but I'd love to see some videos of that where you explain (again ) how the piece came to be.. i especially want to see the amazon priestess piece. wishful thinking.
