Have had the privilege to meet GG in the 80s. He was very cool. Before he went to perform,he would tell you where not to be. Drank some beers with him and smoked a lot of weed.He called going on stage, getting into character. My friends Gene Perfect did two performances with him. One was a recorded live album.(Boosing And Pranks). He and GG had been friends for quite awhile.
GG and the MurderJunkies stayed at my house in Isla Vista after their show. Surprisingly, he was a really nice guy and they turned out to be some of the best house guests I ever had. Even helped clean up before leaving to San Diego the next morning. Go figure
man how were these guys in nyhc punk scene and didnt hear of g.g. ? i was 12 when i bought my 1st gg album at wax trax.. knew of him just from flippin thru pg's of m.r.r. .
Icon or complete degenerate? I saw him in Providence in 87. No lies were ever told about the man. I was 18 years old and can still remember almost every ridiculous moment
First time i saw a video of GG Allin I was scared and amazed at the same time. Dude naked makes a shit onstage and then he spreads it over him and chases the audience. First song (appropriately "bite it you scum") and everyone is off the venue, while the band doesn't stop playing. Absurd raw power.
GG used to play with these dudes called the Flying 69 back in the 80's whose base was on the next block from my parents house. I saw some things as a child that most probably don't 😮
He's a difficult guy to ride for. On the Margaret Cho episode of the podcast, she describes him as one of the most important artists of the 20th century.
I think the stories of GG behaving like a normal dude are far more interesting than the crazy stuff.
He was normal most of the time. Hungover, but relatively normal. Until the stage lights come on.
And he was very polite also. Please, thank you, ect ect
Check out the episodes I did with Gerard Cosloy for some great "out of character" gg stories.

The craziest thing about that is imagining thurston moore playing with gg allin.
J Mascis played Drums for gg. And gg was the original drummer for the Queers. The music scene is small
@@jacobprice8048 And that doesnt make it any less strange.
@return2sender791 it's way strange. The moral of the story is that drummers are hard to come by 😆
Yeah!..that was my thought lol
@@jacobprice8048 Tell me about it haha. My old drummer was in at least 5 bands not including ours.

GG was such an icon that every normal thing about him was shocking

his drumming work was really, really good. There was talent there before the madness and destruction happened.
The Malpractice single is awesome!
I love that Mykel Board pranked em into going to a GG gig

That is so funny lmao
Apple earbuds makes this dude look like a granny.
Say what you want, but gg’s very existence pretty much proves just about every other “punk” on earth a poser.
GG allin usually the newpunks favourite. I hate newpunks
