I watched that show religiously from the time I was in 7th grade through my sophmore year in high school. Not long ago, I binge watched the the whole series- it was cool to see the Flea and Anthony Kaedis at different times, Debbie Harry was on another episode, you never knew who was going to knock at the door (as a character) on the Playhouse.
Gary Panter previously did artwork for some of the Resident's Ralph Records releases. Namely, Subterranean Modern, and the Buy or Die 7" sampler/compilations.
He was in several movies. Hotel clerk / himself. And in a later film as Howie. he partied with Chong, and would repeat words in his signature voice “Hamburger” or “new wave” or even “I’m sorry”
Phil got the shaft in the end though. And sadly wasn’t given appropriate credit. For his contribution to the creation, character, playhouse , or writing.
Wait a minute -- Phil Hartman **was** in the Peewee's Playhouse show, I absaolutely remember. I know Hammy and the others were abandoned but Phil Hartman went from the stage show to the TV show, so I don't know why Phil said he was "abandoned" when clearly he was not. Strange.
Thank you for the kind words. KD Lang was 100% a part of thepunk scene in Edmonton. (Fun fact: Her first 7” came out on the same label as the Modern Minds 7”) Also, you should check out the early White Zombie records that Numero Group reissued. (Fun fact Rob Zombie drew the cover of the second Vatican Commandos 7”, Moby’s Hardcore band… after Moby was kicked out)

Even a disgruntled Phil Hartman sounded calm and polite.

My kids grew up watching Pee Wee's playhouse. I remember him from Cheech and Chong movies.
