    Ya, that's pretty bad. I agree you're not being picky, especially being ghosted for a few days. I hate the wait for replacement. Love the HF. Its about ease of warranty, walk in walk out same day replacement if needed. Only had to use a couple times. I'm not waiting till next week when the truck comes back to collect to get it fixed or replaced, maybe.

    I think they are intended to be higher quality, but fail qc and are bought by a "cheaper" name brand. That set could have originally have been intended to be a gearwrench.
    If someone does not mind slight or outright flaws in finish, they are still getting a pretty decent tool especially for the price point.

    HAHAHA the curve in that wrench is hilarious, I actually bought a gear wrench x beam wrench that had a similar bow to it. I was like how the hell does that get through to the customer lol

    I bought the Duratech black chrome open end ratchet wrenches. After watching this, I checked them, and the SAE set were bent the other way, on the flats, but straight the other way. I guess you get what you pay for. I was inspired to get them mostly to do the shocks on my 1980's Fords, so if it is good enough to do that, I'll be just fine. Nearest Harbor Freight is 80 miles away, and I go about once a year, so an in store warranty won't solve all of my problems anyway.

      Yeah, and it's hard to complain about it at the price point they are selling, which had me questioning if I'm just being too picky about it. The warranty is the other thing though that concerns me. Someone else commented here that they had no problems with a duratech warranty, so I really don't know. They still haven't responded to my email trying to initiate a warranty... and that was ultimately why I decided to return the second set and get gearwrench instead even though the second set was acceptable to me. Also... if you didn't notice anything off with yours previous to watching this video, I'd say your wrenches are fine then. I've never checked for straightness of wrenches before either, lmao... but that 17mm was so far off, it got me looking at them.

    i have that exact set in flex head to and i also have some of the sets that are tools i might use once a year or so but i have never got a duratech tool that looked like that. but you are right about quality control that has to be one place that they same on money. as for warranty with duratech it was super easy on there website i didn't have to show a receipt they had a few questions and i got a new one in 3 to 5 days. it was easier then Irwin, Stanley and a lot of lower cost tools . but like i said i don't use these on a everyday bases. i stay with the better lines for day to day tools. thanks for the review i know i will start looking more closely when i get them .

    These are prob the ones that failed QC for a different product line and were then stamped with Duratech and sold cheap

    I have the Icon set and love it, they’re made by Kabo in Taiwan and are very high quality. Not cheap though! I’m sure they’re anticipating lots of warranty claims with the high leverage offered , which is reflected in the price.

    Ive had good luck with the Genius and Capri wrenches of the same type. Never warranted one, because I never had to.
    Thanks for the tip though. I'd rather go to HF.

      From what I see on other channels Capri looks to be pretty decent quality. I don't have any myself, but I've been recommended it a couple times by viewers too.

    They're pretty garbage, I picked up a set just for doing a belt pully. Mine are bent too but not quite as bad as the one you got. You can just feel that ratcheting end will snap with any sort of torque on it. I have some gearwrench stuff too, had to warranty something and it took a while but I did get it replaced.

    I bought the flex head style. Liked them at first, but the heads fall off quite easily. A nd the ratcheting part stripped, so ya.

      @somedaysoon_
      I just put them in the back of a drawer.
      I tried to attach gearwrench heads to one of the bodies, but they just didn't want to stay on had to tighten the little screw constantly.
      I did like the extended length and the 1/2 - 9/16 was perfect for my needs.
      I just picked up a proto double header, it's fantastic.

    Harbor Freight has the easiest warranty process for hand tools. Bring in a bad tool, and they hand you a new one. I haven’t tried the new Hercules tool line but the 5 year warranty, good reviews and of course the low price are very compelling.

      I have a few Herc tools now: hammer drill, 3/8 long reach ratchet, vacuum, blower, 1/2 impact, and 1/4 bit driver. They are all really good in my opinion, a step over Ridgid which is what I used to buy. And the "extreme performance" batteries actually have Samsung 40T cells in them, so they are great batteries. Thanks for commenting!

    this is the best long ratchets ive ever got for 50 bucks lol. not spending 1000 on a strap on set lol. ive had them for 2 years. 0 issues so far. non of mine are bent or have issues. i have lots of strap on and mac tools. but again. im not getting sucked into spending 1000 bucks on a stupid wrench lol

    • @somedaysoon33
      @somedaysoon33  Месяц назад

      This isn't uncommon for Duratech... others in the comments here have seen the same and I have even watched other videos of people with these wrenches and you can see they are bent, but the people don't realize it. Gearwrench set is much better and doesn't have skips. Gearwrench also has a better warranty process. If you are happy with them, that's cool, but they sent me garbage and never responded to warranty them... which is quite indicative, and confirmation of what I've heard others say is a horrible warranty process.

    dang that set is just 60 bucks, just take it with a grain of salt. if this was such of big deal to you. you could of did what i did bought a cornwell tool set extra long ratcheting wrench metric and spend 459 dollars. its a beautiful set. but i would bought this instead.

      @somedaysoon33  7 месяцев назад +1

      Nah, I returned it and bought the Gearwrench set instead which was 8-19 with no skips and all straight for $115, pretty much same cost per wrench as the Duratech and has a reliable warranty process. I made the right decision. This Duratech set skips some common sizes.
