Court rules parents can't opt kids out of LGBTQ+ curriculum in Maryland

- Maryland's largest public school system does not have to allow parents to opt their kids out of lessons involving LGBTQ-themes, according to a federal appeals court ruling on Wednesday. It is response to a lawsuit filed by a group of parents in Montgomery County, who believe the responsibility should fall to them, instead of the schools. FOX 5's Homa Bash has the story.

Take your children out of these schools. Shut them down and you all pay taxes for these schools. They educate your children the way you want
For starters move out of Montgoery County. One of the reasons for the high real estate and taxes in the counties is the school system. And, based on the SATS from all Montgomery County Public Schools, this system has been nose-diving since 2017. The only upshot they had was in 2021 after the student didn't actually go to the schools but learned from home. Ultimately the goal is to not provide education to the "masses", it will be for those that can pay for private schools....which is how it used to be. Unfortunately, they are going to destroy these children until the parents finally have had enough and call it quits. They will not stop at legally having sexual access to children. In fact the Court ruling is just a step towards legalizing pedolphilia. in schools.
That's a shame! My kids should be playing and having fun like kids do. They don't need to be learning about thus kind of stuff at their age. I'm homeschooling mine.
What stuff? The books basically explain why kids have parents that are different from most families. They don't talk abouts sex. I think if you read one of these books you'd be like "oh, THAT is what the fuss is about?"
When I was a kid we never learned about personal intimacy at all, now I hear there are books of this filth being read to kids?
Good choice...and if you are concerned about the socializaiton, remember, children used to spend most of theri time with their parents, ther adults in the family, and a few other children...and they were running farms and even business at 15 an 16....they were actual responsible and moral adults by their early 20's. Could it hurt to go back to that?

and even more to your point....how does it make sense that the Math book, English book, Science book, Social Studies book are all expected to have a mental impact on our children...they will learn from these books. We expect them to learn from these books. But magically, the gay sex book will not have a mental impact on the children. Doesn't really make sense. Note; the mental impact is that 'they learn', they change, they become smarter than they were a few days ago.

Islam is very strict about LGBTQ. It's doubtful that the appeals would've allowed if Muslims were the litigants.
That's irrelevant, the fact that a court is even deciding whether it's fine for adults to read sex books and show sex videos to 7 yr olds is a massive breakdown in society. And, they show videos of men kissing and making out to 3rd and/or 4rth graders in Montgomery County Public Schools. They are using the LGBTQ as a cover to have sexxual access to children, that's all. If you send your children to these schools they now see that as consent to molest your children...so, they interepret this as giving them permission to have sexual access to children. And, they are not going to stop with just having sexual access to children...they want full access to other peoples children.
Religion is irrelevant in this case. You have to understand, the only people that want to read or show sexual information to very young children that are not their own are sexual predators. So now the parents hae been warned by the Judges that sexual predators are allowed in the schools....do you keep taking your children there? If so, you now know you are dropping them off to fend for themselves against adult sexual predators.
The litigants were Christians, Jews and Muslims but the wicked ruling prevailed. The best way is to take one's kid out of that wicked school

If I had kids I would leave America. There is no way around it anymore, you can't vote yourself out of these problems.
If that were viable answer there would not be so many people coming to the USA. So you can't vote your way out of this BUT a parent does NOT have to drop their child off at one of these building filled with sexual predators. So, now the parent has to decide, will they make their children face sexual predators alone, or will they find another option for their children?
All parents have to do is teach their kids to leave the room when the teachers start forcing this garbage on them, that or become extremely disruptive in class.
They can't leave the room...that's the point. This is now on the parents...do you protect your children from sexual predators waiting for them in the school or do you send them in the school on their own. If you send your kid to any of these schools where the adults fight to legally read sex books and show sex videos to your children then you are consenting to these adults molesting your children. At least that is how they see it...

I understand the concerns. However, the work is that of the parents. This is a public school where kids encounter kids who are or may be LGBT (I knew I was gay in 1997 at the age of 5 -- I just didn't know there was a word for it until the age of 12 -- and it wasn't a nice word). As a parent you have an option. I understand as well that some socially conservative families don't want LGBTQ people normalized. They would rather it be like when I was growing up gay in the South in the 70s and 80s; a taboo topic that shoved people into the closet, and led to higher than normal mental health issues and chemical abuse among LGBT people. Well some MD public school systems wish to allow for LGBTQ stories to be available to all so that it is normalized, to avoid the mistakes of earlier generations. If you are not for LGBTQIA stories being normalized, tell your child they cannot check out books on LGBTQIA issues or storylines, and teach them at home how your family differs from what the schools are teaching. My progressive parents had to do that all of the time in Tennessee where I learned, in school, from kids and teachers that Catholics were Satanic, and heard the N word (not from teachers) constantly. Parents need to parent. Opt out by raising your kids with your values. Speaking with my own students about this and they felt that the more you tell your kids no the more they are interested. My conservative families and progressive families reinforce their beliefs at home. It's complicated but the work shouldn't be on the schools. It should be on the families themselves. I
Sorry you were sexualized at such a young age...but that doesn't make it okay to sexualize all children just becasue you were.
I find it refreshing that you're a member of LGBQ and still consider the parents feelings. That's all too hard to find in people now days.
I am however a little concerned that you found sexual stimulation with either sex at such a young age. That usually stems from abuse. I know a little girl like that and my heart breaks for her.
Her father isn't home and her mom changes guys every other week or so. I can only imagine what that poor little one has been through.
