When he talked about setting the piano on fire it was more like he was killing apart of himself. So it's kind of a metaphorical veriosn, he didn't really set it on fire but he burned up his love for the piano that had been with him since he was little. It's like saying these are the trials and frustrations I had trying to figure out myself, the piano had been my beginning and will probably be my end.
First Love isn’t necessarily just for the piano. It’s a song about his love for music. He’s been writing lyrics since he was 6 years old, but his family wasn’t supportive of his lifestyle/career and threw away all of his music, which is why he said he “pushed” the piano away. It really means he pushed away music because his parents weren’t supporting him and everytime he went back to try making music again it didn’t work out, he sold his songs on the street for a few cents just so he could have some money to buy food and that’s why when he auditioned for BigHit and passed, he then had an opportunity that allowed him to make music like he’s always wanted to, that’s when it started to come back, his love for music, but it was a hard time training, BigHit had originally told him that he was only going to be a producer and then they put him into an idol group. There was one time when he was also working as a milk deliverer so he could come up with some extra change on the side to buy food or bus tickets when he got into an accident, a car had hit him and he severely injured his shoulder. He was scared that BigHit would let him go and he wouldn’t be able to make music anymore so he didn’t tell them, which was what the “grasping my crushed shoulder” part meant. This song is entirely based off of his love for music.
This song is crazy especially the last time he performed it live it hit hard When Yoongi was younger he had a job and was delivering and got in a accident which led him to having a broken shoulder he didn't tell anyone or bighit cuz he ain't wanna get kicked out. This was a very important song to Yoongi....even Yoongi cried recording it I think
((i believe he said that he had cried while making the original recording and was very satisfied with the raw emotion that it conveyed but when he sent it to the producers/bighit something was wrong with the file so he had to record it again!!))
His first love isn't really literally a piano. The piano was like a methaphor for music. Thus music was his first love. From the lyrics, we could say that at some point he didn't want to do music anymore but even when he suffered through depression, it's the only thing that he can go back to.
I forgot just how much this song makes me cry. It’s just such a passionate and emotional song and I began to respect yoongi so much more after this like all biases aside yoongi is probably one of the only artists I respect strictly for his talent and passion.
Same here.. After this song i got deep into BTS and suga too... I fell in love with him and i still got goosebumps and teary eyes whenever I listen to it..
Fun fact: Yoongi said he cried a lot while recording this song (especially during the second half of the song after the “emotion explosion” as he called it), but he ended up having to re-record the song because the file was corrupt 😭
The piano actually represents music, in this song suga refers to the piano as first love so music being its first love, he thought he could escape or ignore his love for music by setting the piano aside, setting it on flames or neglecting it but he couldn’t do it and that’s why it became the reason he kept going, that’s why in the song it says you stayed by my side telling me I can really do it, so his first love being music and the reason of his suffering and also his happiness, remember first loves aren’t always pretty stories 🤪 loved your reaction btw
When a said “clutching my smashed shoulder” he was referring to when a car hit him and kept it a secret because he was afraid they would let him go as a trainee
Min Yoongi when he was young he worked a part time job, he was delivering and got to an accident which led to him having a broken shoulder. He didn’t tell anyone about it nor the company because he didn’t want them to kick him out.
well, when yoongi talks in a different voice, it’s actually the piano speaking to him. when he said i watched you grow big, it was really the piano saying i watched you grow big, not yoongi buying a bigger piano. his first love wasn’t the piano, his first love was music as a whole, the piano being a representation of that. if someone says think of music, you would obviously say a piano. piano is the big representation of music. yoongis first love was music in general, it was his first love, and it will be his last. its like saying music is yoongis forever love. no matter where he goes, music will follow him, and be by his side forever.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe Yoongi’s mom gave him his first piano when he was a little kid and that’s what he’s talking about at the beginning. As the song continues, he uses his love for piano as a reference for his love for music like others have explained, so I won’t go into that. The song gets very emotional for me when you really start to hear the pain in his voice and the song suddenly sounds louder and heavier at 7:50. I felt when Lou said “I’m getting chills”. I feel like we all do at that part. This is seriously a very emotional song. Just like in The Last, he fully exposes himself which is incredible to do.
At 5:20 you can see that suga was actually talkimg from the perspective of the piano, as if he were having a conversation with it. He was saying that as he grew he started to neglect the piano. Later after he surpassed 14 he started to not play it and felt somewhat "too good" for it even though he used to "yearn" for it when he was younger (at 7:11 you were asking why, je felt as if he grew out of it or he didnt need it "at the tip of my nose" meaning he looked down at the piano (which resembles music in general. The piano says you will meet me again in one way or another at 7:23 or sth). (he says "and like white jade, dust began to pile up" Then when the piano starts talking, its reassuring him that he will do just fine without it, Thats why around 5:13 the piano says "you became bigger" or something like that. Later, the piano talks to him again around 7:56 or something idk and again, it reassures him. At 8:49 he says that he pushed piano (music) away after growing into a teenager past the age of 14 or 15. We also know that around that time or later he was very depressed and in need of medical attention. We also know that his parents didn't support his music and would throw away his music or lyrics. Also that korean culture is among the many cultures that values education above everything else at that age, so maybe he began to push music away because he was under the influence of what people around him made sure he was taught to believe, so he felt like music wasnt going to help him nor was it a little bit as important as studying
He's talking about his first love which is music, but he personifies it through the piano because that's how he really became connected to music. During the song, from the verse "Don't worry even if I leave" up through "greet me happily then" he switches his tone in order to personify the piano. So here he talks about at one point in his life (because he didn't realize its significance then) he stopped music and he talks as his piano here saying you grew up and even though you're leaving me right now I'll meet you again later on. Then he talks about how he rushed through his teen years and went through a kind of back and forth battle with pursuing music vs pursuing other things and so there were times when he wanted to quit again and times he didn't see a reason to keep pursuing music and here again he says his piano and music stayed firmly by his side even when he tried to push them away. This goes a little deeper when you remember that Yoongi spent 3 years as a Bighit trainee. During this time he had to put himself through school as well as keep up with the extremely difficult idol trainee program. Yoongi did not grow up wealthy and his family couldn't afford to help him with his school expenses so he also took on a part-time job as a delivery boy in Seoul to get by. During this time he got into a pretty severe accident where his motorbike which he used for work got pulled under a truck and he broke his shoulder as a result. He hid his injury from Bighit fearing they'd let him go if they found out he couldn't train as hard because of his injury and pushed through but you can imagine this was really hard on someone who had been training for so long and still didn't know when they would debut. Yoongi threatened to leave Bighit and the company basically told him they'd wait for him and he should give being an idol another shot. Still for Yoongi, getting in that accident really made him question what he was doing with his life and if he should continue working towards it and he brings this up in this song. In the live version, if you pay attention behind him, they actually raise up a piano and that is THE PIANO from his childhood home that he grew up playing. He brought it along for the concert because it was so important to him. Yoongi also mentioned this song was really hard for him to record and he had to re-record a lot of times because he would stop to cry during it. Eventually,, he decided to mix in the sounds of him sobbing into the song and, while it's hard to hear, it really adds another dimension of depth to the song itself because it shows how much music really means to him.
Marisa 👏👏👏👏 Waw,thank you. I cry again and everytime. Yoongi really tearing my heart apart. my memory come again. Life really hard. But ,let it be and smiles. I 💜you.
Man, I remember crying so hard when I watched and heard him perform this live. My own personal 'theory' is that when he says he (maybe methaporically) set fire to (meaning, abandoned) the piano, it was because of the shoulder injury he got from a delivery job making him physically unable to play and he hated that because the piano isn't just his first love, it's his great love. And if he can't play, he couldn't stand to even look at it.
Thanks for playing this song.. This song is the first i fell in love with suga... And u didn't noticed when beat dropped the piano was talking to him.. This song is kinda story from both of them. Its not only him talking about piano but piano tooo... This deep.
The part saying, "Even if I go don't worry, because you'll do well on your own..." is the piano/music speaking to him. And then when you hear two voices together during the build up is himself and music speaking. This song is a piece of art. Being able to feel the emotions the song is conveying without even knowing what the lyrics are yet...and then when you learn the lyrics...double whammy. I love this song.
I honestly couldn’t tell you what it’s about except it’s about a boy who’s had a passion for music his whole life but pushed it away someone and then regretted pushing music away. I feel a strange connection with the song. Im an artist and I can say art has saved me the same way it saved Yoongi. So whenever I just need some motivation I put on this song. This song is my favorite solo BTS song cuz it holds a lot of value for me and just makes me wanna be inspired. When ever I listen to the “That’s right that’s right that’s right I remember” part I just burst out into tears. Yoongi is a lyrical god and he even inspired me to try and write some songs about my loves and worries.
This song is like basically a conversation between him and the piano/music. He talks about how he grew up with the piano and how once he got older his passion for the piano decreases. Then one of the lyrics tht said “even if I go, don’t worry. Because you’ll do well on your own” and “At some moment you just become bigger”. That was basically the pianos point of view. So this song is basically about his journey of how his love of music made an impact on his life. The song just shows both POV of the piano saying how tht it will wait for him to find its love for it. Also how the piano helped him go through things. In my conclusion, first love is just how music was the only thing that helped overcome difficulties in life and it shows through the “conversation” in his music
Honestly, I play the violin and I have like kind of a love/hate relationship with it for some obscure reasons and fuck I never felt like someone could understand it before I discovered that song. It's such a great song.
sapho h I feel you on tht because I do guard. I basically spin a rifle, sabré, and a flag and I’ve been doing it for a while now and once I heard this song I felt like I could relate to it because guard helped me through stuff and tend to have a love/hate relationship. So if I ever had any difficulties I always listen to this song because of the strong feelings I get.
Yea, to me it's more because my dad kinda forced me to learn music, so at the beginning I thought that's cool I'm learning how to play music and playing music seems fun. But then I realized I didn't have a choice and even tho I liked it at the moment, it kinda scared me. Then my dad became violent and would punch me if I made a mistake which wasn't fun and kinda made me hate violin. Like, I enjoyed it but I was scared to play bc if I made a mistake I'd get beat up. So I learned one song by heart and only played that song for years bc I was sure I wouldn't fuck up. Then my parents separated and my dad wasn't around anymore, so I kinda just stopped playing all together. But my teachers motivated me to do a contest thing because they knew I was good. Others had a full year to prepare for it but I only had 2 weeks before the thing. I didn't want to, I felt I would only humiliate myself because I hadn't play in years. I listened to the songs they gave me on loop the whole night and I felt like I had to try. I don't really know why, but I wanted to try. So I did. I prepared hard core for two weeks and went to the thing. In the jury one of the men was kinda laughing at me bc he knew I had only two weeks to prepare and he didn't think it was possible. The director of my school was there too and she didn't believe in me either. But my teacher did. He was the only one in the public. My parents weren't there, no friends either, no one else, but it felt good. I played the song. Everyone cried. I cried. I felt SO FUCKING GOOD like I don't think I ever felt as good at any other moment in my life. I won first place, in front of all these people who had prepared for it for years. And it felt great. Now I have moments when I practice, and moments when I don't touch my violin for months. But it's always here. And even though it brings me stress and anxiety and bring back trauma and the worst feelings in me, it somehow also brings me peace.. It's weird.. But yea this song kinda makes me want to play again
sapho h you must’ve had it hard... I feel bad for you but to see how everything worked out for you is really good. With me I started to do guard in middle school and didn’t know anything and during my first I was at a point where I wanted to quit but I had to think about it myself why I joined so I stayed. As the time sent by I’ve learned to really grow fond and honestly I wouldn’t be where I am without because it inspired me so omg has to wrk harder to exceed my dreams in the future. When I did Marching Band/Colorguard my first or second week of camp I was for sure going to quit because it gave me a lot of anxiety and depression, which I still deal with today, and I didn’t have the energy at the but as the season went on I’ve learned to love it and now I can’t live without guard because it’s the only reason why I’ve become the person I am today. The worst part about guard is re-learning basics and the amount of choreography we get and the new tosses and tricks we learn which can be very hard in m but I’ve learned to deal with it even though it gives me a lot of anxiety. Now when I think about how much I’ve endured from middle school to my sophomore year I just think of how much I’ve grown to love what I do and to always be open minded and to always keep pushing myself to become great.
I had a friend in high school who did guard, it doesn't look easy, but it's pretty cool. I understand how it could make you feel that way tho. I think for us and other ppl in this situation it's never going to be one or the other, we're never going to fully love it, but we could never truly hate it either. And it's a strange feeling.. I think we just have to know when to do the thing and when not to. Like, we shouldn't force ourselves to do it when we feel bad, but still kind of push ourselves to do it just enough so that it feels right.. It's complicated, I'm sure you get what I mean ^^'
This still make me emotional. I have seen musicians feeling the lyrics deeply "Set you aflame" i guess means he destroyed the memory of its existence for a while He put the piano's perspective as well: you will be fine, i'll be here
This song has been one of my top 5 bts songs for a long time. You understand everything through it. His love for music goes above and beyond everything, it has saved him in his darkest times and amplified the happiest ones. No matter how much he heals or if he hurts more in the future, "since his birth, and until the end of his days, music will witness it all"
So, about the *lyrics and storyline* . Suga wrote this song about his memories, about himself, so when he says that he *sets the piano aflame* in my opinion is more like a representation of him giving up on music, so not literally burning the instrument, AND THEN the writers took that and added to the 'Bangtan Universe' thing to connect, since Suga was already associated with fire, it would fit very well the story. OR Suga knew this 'plot' and thought it was a good metaphor to add in his song. Either way it was never mentioned Suga setting a piano on fire in real life, so I like to think it is a metaphor and was only added to the story after this lyrics (cause I'm pretty sure is the first time we see the piano on fire). For the Wings album their solo songs kinda of overlays with the fictional world, but (I think) is most because the writers based their storyline in some of the personal backstories from the boys that they address in their songs, not much, just a lil bit so the songs kinda resambles their character. Since they're talking about growth and insecurity, that everyone has, it fits the concept of the storyline even tho they might be talking about real world, like JHope's MAMA, which is dedicated to his mom, and the JHope character has a whole trauma with his mom. So it's kinda connected, but not because BTS wrote a song about their storyline, but because their storyline is based on them (with a whole bunch of differences still including some magic shops here and there)...
Every time I listen to this song I cry, because I can relate to his relationship with music and instruments. I suffered through social anxiety and depression and the only thing that would help me get it out and feel free to express my feelings was making music.
I honestly don’t even need to know the lyrics to the song I can just feel it in my bones I don’t speak Korean but I already know what this song is about just by the feeling sugas rap causes in me
He was talking about music in general, the piano was just a metaphor or a form of it he first loved. That’s why on the lyrics, it said “whatever form I take, we will meet again”. Music was the one thing he could never let go.
Took you years buy you finally react to it 🙌🏽 The piano is very important to him and he really had a brown piano while he was a child. He is basically saying that he fell in love with music while he was a child but then he grew up and started focused on other things but then again music called him back when he was a teen and that even when he hated himself music saved him... That's what I got. First Love is still my favorite song by Suga.
The piano symbolizes his music in a way, he wanted to learn how to play the piano when he was a kid, he was happy seeing it even if he couldn't play it, once he did he fell out of touch with it at some point in life, bc that's what life is. When he started again he talked about touching the piano for the first time in long time at the age of 14. It's re-setting the flame inside his soul for his love for music again. WHEN HE HAD HIS ACCIDENT AND BROKE HIS SHOULDER, he went through a hard time and everytime he thought about giving up the piano /music helped him go and move on. THAT'S HIS FIRST LOVE, HIS FIRST SAVIOR, HIS MUSIC.
When i read the lyrics to this song it always makes me tear up. And even reading the comments made me sob hard. God I love yoongi so much. and what he went through tho, dude, that’s deep😭
Did you know that while recording this song he was balling his eyes out and then said to keep it in so people can see how i really feel and thts why when ever i hear this song me not knowing Korean i still cry because it hits hard when you know the back story and the part where he said i was hold my crushed shoulder...its because he was in a car crash when he was a trainee but didnt tell no one bc he was affraid of being kicked out and from tht day on his shoulder is a little messed up😞😞😞😞😞😢😢😢😢😢😢
this song has been like- a good reminder not only to musicians but to every people going into the creative world it's so rare having this much passion as Yoongi does, the song had me crying in a minute he started singing heavily. like desperately trying not to let go of the only thing that makes him happy or what he loves to do.
Yoongi is soo goddamn good at writing depressed rap songs. The songs he writes are so good to listen to when you are in depressed mode. His songs are so helpful when you are depressed. I am a Min Suga bias btw
In this song, SUGA sang in two characters, one is himself and the other is the piano. When he is in elementary school he left piano, so the piano character say the next time to see him he is grown up and can do things by himself.
This song will always have a special place in my heart I remember when I first listened to it I did not know what to expect but by the end I was in tears just knowing what this song is about made me respect yoongi that much more and also to love this song more “First love” will always have a special place in my heart
I love watching you react to any BTS videos. It makes my day, and when you get hyped I get hyped. Tbh I try to keep myself from laughing or jumping around, especially when it’s very late at night. 😅 love you guys tho! 👍🏻❤️
The piano symbolises his love for music. SUGA's First Love was love for his music so he's saying that he didn't realize it at 1st & then started denying his love ("I pushed you away") but then came back to it coz he realized how important music is for him.
this song is about the love yoongi had and has for music but also it's connected to the storyline of bts universe in there yoongi lost his mother in early ages probably from suicide (burning their home) his mother played piano so his love for piano came from there but when he loses his mother (piano is burning in their various mvs) he loses his interest and thinks that he's guilty for what happened which leads him to seprate him self from his friends cause he thinks he's doing the same with them and tries to kill him self(in I need you and run mvs)
Truly, this song means SO MUCH to me. This song is what made me start to fall in love with Yoongi, who's my ultimate bias. I wasn't even interested in liking him at all, not even his looks at first. When my best friend started introducing me to BTS, I eventually searched for their contents myself, but came across a reaction video to this song (this lyric video particularly) & OH LORD the lyrics deeply touched me. It was the first Korean song, the first rap song EVER that made me cry in tears. This song speaks so much about him as a musician, as a person. His words, the melody, the lyrics, the flow of this song, the emotions, they all blend SO well it made me speechless. I love how he can talk & pour out his soul onto it. I'm really really glad you guys reacted to this song.
Piano is synonymous to music in yoongi's life.thats his first love..he fell in love with music at very young age and was very interseted in machines and instruments through which he could create music since very young age and of all the instrument his piano has been with him through out his life even during the hardest time of his life when he didnt feel like doing music..you are right Lou piano/music is the one that kept him going through the rough time . In wings story line Yoongi's character is a boy who love music ,his piano and his mom..he lose two most precious things - his mom and the brown piano in a fire accident which burn down his house but later on he come to know that fire was acruallg started by his mom intentionally ...so this song is with has deep connection with yoongi in real as well as reel life.
The first time I ever heard this song... I cried. I just listened to the Wings album, no translations. The passion he emotes in his singing/rapping is so powerful. The dynamics and how he transitions from his pov, to that of the piano (music). It's a beautiful piece, made all the more when you read the lyrics and understand his sentiment. It really reflects to anybody who loves/makes music.
this is my favorite song by them. i have a deep connection with this song and honestly i wouldn’t be here without. it’s so beautiful it breaks my heart.
As you've noticed, there's more meaning behind this song. Here Yoongi is not only talking about his love and passion for music but also about the role that music played in his life during those dark times and how he was able to overcome them motivated by his dream of pursuing music. Forever proud of him ❤️
this song is conversation between the piano and suga and he is singing from both aspects. you can hear the difference in the delievery. this song makes me so emotional suga has this way of rapping like storytelling and its so raw. i love you yoongi~
1st time I heard this song I got constant chills from beginning to end. goosebumps all over, on my face & scalp too. It made my heart sink, 7 that feeling held till i felt the legit need to sob outta nowhere. I felt choked up the entire time yet amazed at the art I was hearing. I felt it strongly without even entirely understanding, because I hadn't read the lyrics yet. but I felt the gratitude & apology towards the (only word I understood) piano in this song at 1st listen. it was beautiful. It was beautifully bittersweet & a really wanted to give Min Yoongi a solid hug for allowing me to feel what he wrote & brought to life with his voice.
i think yoongi set the piano on fire because he couldn't play it anymore because he had an accident while on his delivery motorbike and shattered/broke his shoulder (in the song) and also the piano was a major part of his memoery and youth hence the first and last lines of the song
You guys HAVE to react to Suga's Intro: In the Mood for Love. like if you want more genius lyrical content, that song is CRAZY. it makes me so emotional but so fkn inspired
as a musician that's really attached to her instruments and music, this songs hit so hard when I heard it for the first time. but when I read the lyrics it hit even harder. I'm really connected to what I love but my family brushes it off and doesn't see music the way I do. they don't see how important it is to me. whenever I don't get first place in anything they ridicule me and tell me it's just a hobby. music is very dear to my heart, I often found it being my only companion for most of my life.
Guys i think u lot should download BTS WORLD it a game and u could learn a lot about them by going to the past as there manger in 2012 when they never new what there dreams were so have to bring them back together
I think the genius thing about this song is how it's a dialogue between SUGA and the Piano (metaphoring his love for Music) and it shows in his voice, when is the "piano" speaking you can see the difference from when is SUGA speaking
When the lyric says “you became bigger” it’s because these lyrics are the piano’s point of view of him growing as well. He incorporated that in this verse.
The first time I heard this song I straight up cried. The depth at which his love of music--especially the piano--goes to me not only inspiring but also relatable. He literally states with an open honesty that it was his love for the piano that saved him from a nearly all-consuming depression. And it's hard for me to not relate because it was a combination of writing stories and BTS's music that saved me from that same despair. So thank you for reacting to this because it is truly appreciated.
Yoongi's talking about how he struggled and music was his salvation. The piano was real and was the catalyst for his music interests. After playing, his interest/love for music grew and eventually became his biggest comfort in hard times. But he tried to push music away, in an effort to please his parents and other people who told him pursuing music would lead him nowhere. He did set the piano on fire. But eventually he realized he needed music and he wouldn't be happy doing anything else, so he came back to it. Back to piano. And he promises not to let go of his first love ever again.
The piano is a metaphor for the people who helped him when he was younger, encouraging him because his family and parents didn’t. It also can literally mean his first piano because he does love pianos and he loves to spend any second he’s got free playing a piano or instrument.
This song is really a masterpiece! Loving your reactions btw :) In the song yoongi uses different tones to represent him talking to the piano, and the piano talking to him (connecting with music), like when he said “Kid you can really do it”,, it was as if the piano were talking to him. And the smashed shoulder thing was during his trainee days when he got hit by a car and permanently injured his shoulder :( Anyways, hope y’all have a great day,, keep up the good work!
Before i even started stanning them, one of my fave songs of theirs was First Love. I listened to it wo lyrics, but I got goosebumps just from his voice, the beat, everything. It's one their songs that still give me goosbumps every time I hear it.
As a musician this song really hits home. It's not necessarily his love for the piano but it's the love and passion for music and how even though he pushed it away in a darkest moments, music was always there for him and was his light when he needed it to be. As I mentioned I am a musician and the personification of his piano really means a lot to me. Music was always there for me whether I wanted it to be or not, like him I pushed it away but again, music was always there to take me back. It's a very emotional song not just in general but I feel like it's more emotional for us musicians.
His first love was music and that piano was what taught him music. At some point he even personifies the piano to give more emphasis on its importance.
He’s talking about the first time he fell in love with music. How music has altered his life and how much he had to fight to make his dream come true. In my opinion, it’s one of his best solo songs
If you listen carefully you'll hear that in different verses he's using a different tone. This song was him having a conversation with the piano, that actually represents music which makes sense based on lyrics.
What I love most about Yoongi is nothing about him is fake. He’s pretty authentic with his emotions. For publicity, when going to Meet&Greets or taking pictures, he’ll smile because he has to. No matter if he’s having a really bad day, he has to put on a smile for his fans. He is generous and sweet; kind-hearted to the core. That’s why it hits me so hard when people say “Yoongi’s boring” or “He’s lazy”. In anything people write about Yoongi, they’ll highlight what’s mostly known to them, like: Namjoon- Clumsy Jin-Mother Tae-Alien Jungkook-“Perfect”🙄 Yoongi-Cold Hobi-Sunshine Jimin-Short All these labels. But none of them are true. They aren’t true because these simple labels is not what is truly inside of each of them. This isn’t what they are all about. I understand it can be a joke but these were simple happening and moments, not what defines them. I hate the one especially about Yoongi and Jungkook. Yoongi is not cold he is simply more introverted. Just because he doesn’t always talk and smile means he hates everyone and always wants to sleep. He sleeps BECAUSE he’s tired. If they have a free period to do whatever they please.....WHO WOULDN’T catch up on rest? They have busy lives. Nothing is ever at a standstill. For Jungkook, he works HARD. He may do things well when they do challenges and what-not or even get choreo right the first time but, just like everyone else, he has his own worries and stresses. It’s clear he is blessed with a gift. All of the members are. But to push that “perfect” label on him can really make one unhappy. Then he will start conditioning himself to be this “perfect” person when he isn’t. He is human. Our job as honest fans is to appreciate their hard work and support them. I digress, the point is, there is always a lot more to Yoongi that meets the eye. That is the exact reason he is my biased is BECAUSE he’s so special to me. I’m pretty extroverted, so when it comes to introverts or shy people, I can understand their nature. I don’t make quick judgements when I haven’t taken the time to get to know someone. That’s just wrong. Maybe appearance wise (which I never judge to harshly on, I’ll just notice) but never who they are personally.
he sang and wrote this song from his perspective and from piano's perspective. like they're taking to each other. you can hear the way he changes his tone between verses
Before he became an idol and joined big hit , he would get ripped off and people would steal his music that he used to sell for a living and he couldn’t even afford a proper meal for himself. He never wanted to become famous and only wanted to become a producer because it’s what he loved to do. It was the only thing that made him happy at that time. He knows every key of the piano by heart and can play any song just by singing it in his head.
the thing that gets me with this song is the instrumental build up and the lyrics towards the end. like when he says “without you i am nothing” i get goosebumps. it really strikes a chord when you’re a musician too bc you know exactly how he feels 😭 that’s why I respect yoongi so much he knows what it feels like to be in dark times and have music save him and always be there for him ugh this man
Love your heartfelt reactions, guys! There was a part of the song where the piano was talking to yoongi and he was telling us what the piano said. This absolutely rocks me to my core, so I hope you guys didn't miss that. Yea...min yoongi is an artist no doubt.
He was literally crying when he recorded it, but genius fucking producer that he is, instead of just doing another clean take and trash the crying one, he mixed the sound of his crying into the fucking track. Never sleep on Suga. Every song he makes is fucking art
Yoongi can make me Feel him even if I don't understand what he's saying And everytime i check his song's lyrics i get impressed more Such a great talent 💜
Go watch our reaction to the live performance on our patreon (First Link in the description)💛
FO Squad Kpop I would join if I weren’t broke 😔👊🏽
i dont have patreon, but i would join ✌️
bros somebody actually said that suga was talking about his mom on this song where the piano is his mom
in suga's past him and his parents are not in good terms where he run away but regretted...
This song is entirely based off of his love for music.
thank you for sharing this!
💜 thank you for sharing this
Couldn’t have said this better✊😭
uyu n’ matcha
i hope what lou and ous will see that, thank you so much
MORE LIKES FOR THIS COMMENT!!! THEY NEED TO SEE THIS
First love was a really emotional song for Yoongi, it was said that Yoongi even cried while recording....
This song is crazy especially the last time he performed it live it hit hard
When Yoongi was younger he had a job and was delivering and got in a accident which led him to having a broken shoulder he didn't tell anyone or bighit cuz he ain't wanna get kicked out. This was a very important song to Yoongi....even Yoongi cried recording it I think
((i believe he said that he had cried while making the original recording and was very satisfied with the raw emotion that it conveyed but when he sent it to the producers/bighit something was wrong with the file so he had to record it again!!))
Yes😭💔
His first love isn't really literally a piano. The piano was like a methaphor for music. Thus music was his first love. From the lyrics, we could say that at some point he didn't want to do music anymore but even when he suffered through depression, it's the only thing that he can go back to.
it also does mean a literal piano lmao
Broooo your profile pic...💔💔
I think his first love is the piano which introduced him to the world of music but the piano will never leave him it will always be there for him
That’s true but if you think about it...writing music and making melodies starts with instruments so his piano might have started his music passion.
Trueeeeee😭💔
5:04 - 5:32 is the piano talking to him, so when it says that he will get bigger it means that the piano is watching suga grow
Yees...I hope that they see this!!!
Yes, you can hear it in his voice. His "piano" voice is much softer and not raspy like the normal Suga voice.
Thank u
I forgot just how much this song makes me cry. It’s just such a passionate and emotional song and I began to respect yoongi so much more after this like all biases aside yoongi is probably one of the only artists I respect strictly for his talent and passion.
Same here.. After this song i got deep into BTS and suga too... I fell in love with him and i still got goosebumps and teary eyes whenever I listen to it..
Yall should react to "So Far Away" which he sang with Jin and Jungkook.
This! song! Literally makes me sob
And to listen to the one ft Suran as well, bc great vocals also
YES
Please yes, this song has really made me tear up and change my perspective.
Yeees
Fun fact: Yoongi said he cried a lot while recording this song (especially during the second half of the song after the “emotion explosion” as he called it), but he ended up having to re-record the song because the file was corrupt
😭
how do you know that?
kdt he wrote it in his Q&A in the wings concept book
Omg I am crying😭💔
He didn’t tell anyone about it nor the company because he didn’t want them to kick him out.
well, when yoongi talks in a different voice, it’s actually the piano speaking to him. when he said i watched you grow big, it was really the piano saying i watched you grow big, not yoongi buying a bigger piano. his first love wasn’t the piano, his first love was music as a whole, the piano being a representation of that. if someone says think of music, you would obviously say a piano. piano is the big representation of music. yoongis first love was music in general, it was his first love, and it will be his last. its like saying music is yoongis forever love. no matter where he goes, music will
follow him, and be by his side forever.
Aer /// Thank you for your explanation😊
This song always makes me cry man, ugh it hits hard
J G same😭❤️
*two seconds into the song*
*pauses to talk about it*
*few more seconds*
*already has theories*
your minds work quickly
I 💜you.
It is really so amazing and so heartbreaking at the same time😭💔
Suga's first love is actually one of the short film in the wings album hence the burning piano. Remember );););
First love is probably my favorite BTS song. This song is what got me into them.
When you reach peak boredom and FO squad posts. That’s called a blessing 🙌🏽
Thank you for reacting to this masterpiece...
The piano is music. His first love was music. Like he said he neglected it and wanted to give up on it but… that’s his love
I have seen musicians feeling the lyrics deeply
"Set you aflame" i guess means he destroyed the memory of its existence for a while
He put the piano's perspective as well: you will be fine, i'll be here
This song has been one of my top 5 bts songs for a long time.
Y‘all should react to some theories of BTS MV‘s for example the fake love MV theory
bey k. Yo, fake love is crazzyyyyyyyy
Kim Namjoon IT DEFINITELY IS
Yes! Like one by xceleste, she helps. They should watch the 30 min one (almost the full summary up until Apr 2019).
Every time I listen to this song I cry, because I can relate to his relationship with music and instruments. I suffered through social anxiety and depression and the only thing that would help me get it out and feel free to express my feelings was making music.
I honestly don’t even need to know the lyrics to the song I can just feel it in my bones I don’t speak Korean but I already know what this song is about just by the feeling sugas rap causes in me
it's actually like a conversation between him and the piano, the part where he goes you say... its actually the piano speaking to him.
I just got real emotional right now 💜💜
He was talking about music in general, the piano was just a metaphor or a form of it he first loved.
In the live performance the piano he had was, if I remember correctly, it was his 1st piano he played or had when he was younger.
When i read the lyrics to this song it always makes me tear up. And even reading the comments made me sob hard. God I love yoongi so much. and what he went through tho, dude, that’s deep😭
The piano represents music as a material thing, because music is his first love
Did you know that while recording this song he was balling his eyes out and then said to keep it in so people can see how i really feel and thts why when ever i hear this song me not knowing Korean i still cry because it hits hard when you know the back story and the part where he said i was hold my crushed shoulder...its because he was in a car crash when he was a trainee but didnt tell no one bc he was affraid of being kicked out and from tht day on his shoulder is a little messed up😞😞😞😞😞😢😢😢😢😢😢
first BTS song that makes me cry like a baby
this song always makes me cry. its just so sincere and you can feel yoongis love for music to the bone
this song has been like- a good reminder not only to musicians but to every people going into the creative world it's so rare having this much passion as Yoongi does, the song had me crying in a minute he started singing heavily. like desperately trying not to let go of the only thing that makes him happy or what he loves to do.
that part after him saying "you say" he was talking about the piano saying, he was talking in the piano's POV
The piano symbolises his love for music. SUGA's First Love was love for his music so he's saying that he didn't realize it at 1st & then started denying his love ("I pushed you away") but then came back to it coz he realized how important music is for him.
This is the first BTS song that made me cry when I first heard it. Before even reading the lyrics, just the raw emotion in his voice grabbed me.
this song is about the love yoongi had and has for music but also it's connected to the storyline of bts universe in there yoongi lost his mother in early ages probably from suicide (burning their home) his mother played piano so his love for piano came from there but when he loses his mother (piano is burning in their various mvs) he loses his interest and thinks that he's guilty for what happened which leads him to seprate him self from his friends cause he thinks he's doing the same with them and tries to kill him self(in I need you and run mvs)
No comment made me cry fr more than this
@@itsmen9542 thanks for taking your time reading it🤍
🥺😭😭 Suga always gets me... such a passionate poet!!!! Symbolic lyrics always 💜🔥
The echo part is when the piano talking to him. It’s the 2 ways conversation
I always get teary with this song 🥺
Piano is synonymous to music in yoongi's life.thats his first love..he fell in love with music at very young age and was very interseted in machines and instruments through which he could create music since very young age and of all the instrument his piano has been with him through out his life even during the hardest time of his life when he didnt feel like doing music..you are right Lou piano/music is the one that kept him going through the rough time .
In wings story line
Yoongi's character is a boy who love music ,his piano and his mom..he lose two most precious things - his mom and the brown piano in a fire accident which burn down his house but later on he come to know that fire was acruallg started by his mom intentionally ...so this song is with has deep connection with yoongi in real as well as reel life.
This is so meaningfull
I literally nearly cried
this is my favorite song by them. i have a deep connection with this song and honestly i wouldn’t be here without. it’s so beautiful it breaks my heart.
As you've noticed, there's more meaning behind this song. Here Yoongi is not only talking about his love and passion for music but also about the role that music played in his life during those dark times and how he was able to overcome them motivated by his dream of pursuing music. Forever proud of him ❤️
With the emotion and passion and the music of this song ALWAYS makes me cry. I dont care how many times I hear it, I cry.
this song is conversation between the piano and suga and he is singing from both aspects. you can hear the difference in the delievery. this song makes me so emotional suga has this way of rapping like storytelling and its so raw. i love you yoongi~
Omg.. I been waiting for this for a few years now lol
It was beautifully bittersweet & a really wanted to give Min Yoongi a solid hug for allowing me to feel what he wrote & brought to life with his voice.
i think yoongi set the piano on fire because he couldn't play it anymore because he had an accident while on his delivery motorbike and shattered/broke his shoulder (in the song)
and also the piano was a major part of his memoery and youth hence the first and last lines of the song
This is one of my favorites, it always makes my chest tight and my heart stop. Luv Suga ❤
This is why I love yoongi
I really feel goosebumps everytime I hear this....also the reason I look up to him!! He is really an inspiration ❣️
I’m not gonna lie this really made me cry 😭❤️
Me: *reads the title*
Me:Uh uh Listen boi my first love story
The very fact that you guys are connecting to this song is just amazing uwu
Loving your reactions btw :)
In the song yoongi uses different tones to represent him talking to the piano, and the piano talking to him (connecting with music), like when he said “Kid you can really do it”,, it was as if the piano were talking to him.
And the smashed shoulder thing was during his trainee days when he got hit by a car and permanently injured his shoulder :(
Anyways, hope y’all have a great day,, keep up the good work!
I cry everytime I read the lyrics to this song, no lie, I'm tearing up now
His first love was music and that piano was what taught him music.
Around 7-9 mins i couldn't help but cry because of the lyrics and the emotion with the way he said it
What I love most about Yoongi is nothing about him is fake. In anything people write about Yoongi, they’ll highlight what’s mostly known to them, like:
Namjoon- Clumsy
Jin-Mother
Tae-Alien
Jungkook-“Perfect”🙄
Yoongi-Cold
Hobi-Sunshine
Jimin-Short
All these labels.
Yh mate we need to respect these masterpiece
he sang and wrote this song from his perspective and from piano's perspective. like they're taking to each other. you can hear the way he changes his tone between verses
Yea...min yoongi is an artist no doubt.
omg first love has a special place in my heart. I always play it when i’m in a mood
He was literally crying when he recorded it, but genius fucking producer that he is, instead of just doing another clean take and trash the crying one, he mixed the sound of his crying into the fucking track. Never sleep on Suga. Every song he makes is fucking art
Yoongi can make me Feel him even if I don't understand what he's saying
And everytime i check his song's lyrics i get impressed more
Such a great talent 💜
Ans also they all have separate story of what the did before the were BTS like suga playing the piano
