SUGA is a definition of true artist. He is honest, straightforward, intelligent and it shows in his raw and emotional lyrics. His whole existence revolves around music. As Jin said "our SUGA, he’s a friend who has an immense passion for music. To the point i wonder if he didn’t become a singer or songwriter/producer, what would he be? Everything surrounding him -hobbies, personal life - is all tuned around music. He’s someone that makes me think: “he looks amazing as a singer, as someone who makes songs.” SUGA started writing songs at 13 years old and when he had multiple part time jobs he was working at record studio and was giving MIDI lessons. He wrote 16 bars a day when he was a teenager and then one song a day. He says he writes music not because he thinks he should but because it's his best amusement, lyrics are just writing themselves in his head. He always brings his equipment on vacations and makes music everywhere, even on sets. When they've been asked what they would do without BTS other members answer different jobs, but SUGA is always consistent about his answer and says that he will be producer and songwriter even without BTS. He is an established producer, who works with other artists and wins awards, he is very deep lyricist, who writes about important problems in society, he is versatile composer. He can play piano by ear and credited for piano in many songs. He can read music sheets, he has perfect pitch and he can hear a musical note and identify or recreate it perfectly. He plays guitar and practiced his guitar 6 hours a day. He is learning drums as well. His studio is named Genius Lab and Media calls him "miracle writer", "worldwide music producer", "musical genius", "Daegu wordsmith", "king of the music industry"
There is a live performance where he has his childhood piano on stage with him. And the emotion in the studio version is amazing, but the amount he portrays on stage is next level💜💜💜💜
This is one of my favorite songs of all time... knowing the meaning of the words... i cry every dam time i hear it. Masterpiece. [rest assured, Yoongi has said the piano is still with his family, so he did not actually set fire to it]
Suga and Jin are the best at making you cry 😭 We don't know anything about him setting aflame a piano but it is shown in a few MVs. Also, regarding his broken shoulder he mentions too: he broke it when a car accidentaly hitted him during his delivery job while being a trainee. He didn't tell the company at first bc he was afraid of not being able to debut, but when the company found out they payed Suga's education fee so he wouldn't continue to work. Up until a few months ago, he used to take injection bc of the pain until a couple of doctors told him to get surgery when it came to the point he couldn't even rise his arm. Now he is better!
SUGA's music is just something else. His music saves lives. There is a reason why he is called Musical genius. He has two self-produced mixtapes: "Agust D" and "D-2", both released under his second stage name Agust D. "D-2" is the most streamed album by a Korean soloist. I strongly recommend you to check it out
I agree with you about this being a favorite song. I went from a fan of them to utterly in awe of them as artists (Suga especially). I’ve never heard anything so raw and emotional. He was supposed to write a song about his First Live and I’ve never heard anything this beautiful. I’ve read interviews where he said he cried recording this and instead of scrapping the recording he used some of those sounds as part of the production because he’s not just a genius rapper, but as a composer on piano, and of course as a producer he’s just so good. A few notes the translation of “burning up the piano” is really more “burned up the night playing till dawn” in other translations. The shoulder incident is real, he injured his shoulder pre-debut when he was doing a delivery job (he wasn’t supposed to have but he really needed money) and was afraid he’d be cut from BTS so he didn’t tell the company what really happened and never got the torn ligaments fixed (ending his b-boying career, he used to dance a lot more, and also leaving him in constant pain). He never even told BTS guys the truth till years later at a dinner at hotel that was filmed he joked about it and they were all shocked. They had also wondered about references to his shoulder in songs like The Last. He finally got surgery last year and seems to be in less pain and doing well, although he missed many months of performances but the other guys carried pics of him to set on tables at interviews etc. Anyhow yes brilliant song, I’ve never heard anything quite like it, a true gem a lot will miss if they don’t deep dive into older BTS catalog. I’d recommend some of his other songs off his mixtapes, I’m fond of his collab with RM “Strange” or maybe a different sound like “Moonlight”.
I always got goosebumps whenever I listen to his music and read his lyrics, he is such a genius. And his voice, not everyone appreciates his voice especially to BTS songs because he is a rapper some people focus on the vocal line's voice, but for me he has a very expressive voice, he can even be in a rock band because of his deep voice and can be a rock scream voice 😊 Hope you will continue reacting to BTS songs. They are all amazing. Love your reactions as always 💜
I love Suga's writing style. I can feel the emotion in every single note and lyric. This is one of my favorites and every time I see someone react to it I get excited. Thanks. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🤩🤩👍👍
First love is such an underrated suga song, I love the way he narrates what the piano said to him and the whole back and forth conversation of his acceptance of the piano in his life. It's so simple and so beautiful but the delivery of the melodic rap was so powerful! I would love to see you react to his solo work Agust D - Dear My Friend (Ft. Kim Jong Wan of Nell), it's a song he wrote about his past friend who he misses and hates at the same time.
You should definitely react to Suga's MV Daeshwita! It is so incredible! I NEVER liked rap until listening to BTS but now I love listening to all three; RM, J-Hope, and Suga rap. Suga's raps are just so powerful. The lyrics are soooo good and the MV is another one that's like a movie!
While it may have been their dancing that first attracted me to BTS many, many years ago, it is their lyricism that made me Army. I could go on and on about the many great aspects of their writing but my favourite is the ambiguity in their lyrics. It is absolute mastery.
He performed this with his piano on stage. He did not play and just performed but this same piano was there with him. Setting it aflame means he played with passion and skill. So much so the piano seemed alive. It's when a great artist put their all into the music it seems that instrument comes alive. Whereas some of us untalented people touch pianos and they don't come alive. 😌 Note: RM's live perf with the whale on stage is incredible as well. Don't remember the song, but they did one about the writing process.
I'd recommend to watch the live performance as well. First love was the first song that got me into bts, along with another song of his, The Last, which is very emotional as well. I'd recommend a lot of his solo works, Shadow, People. Suga is actually a really good, honest, passionate songwriter and producer
*BRUH, REACT TO HIS MIXTAPE D-2, THAT IS A TREAT TO A LYRICIST LOVER. HIS OTHER SONGS LIKE THE LAST, SO FAR AWAY ARE MUST!!!!!!!! HE IS YOUR TYPE OF ARTIST, HIS LYRICS ARE IMMENSE AND ALONG WITH THAT HE IS AN ALL ROUNDED MUSICIAN. THAT IS WHY HIS SONGS TOUCHES PEOPLE HEARTS. BTW HIS SONG INTERLUDE SHADOW LYRICS !!!!!! IMMACULATE, YOU WILL HAVE LOTS TO UNRAVEL WHILE REACTING TO THAT SONG.*
Yes. This is one of my favorite BTS songs, too. Everytime I listen to this...including right now..it makes me cry. You have to watch Suga's live performance of this song...ruclips.net/video/KMr_cZFhECY/видео.html! I don't know if you'd noticed, after the part of the song where Suga says "you say..." 3:10 , it's the piano that is speaking to him. And in the part where 2 voices are speaking 4:23 "Don't let go of my hand forever...", it's acually Suga and his piano speaking to each other. Genius, right?

Suga makes me cry every time I listen to this,. He's such a skilled storyteller, just a genius.he said he cried writing this too.
Reading this after watching D-Day 😢 I imagine that album did the same. Suga is always so deep, whether being Agust D, Suga, or Min Yoongi

I got goosebumps the first time I listened to First Love. I truly admire Yoongi's ability to portray raw emotions.
I'm so thankful Yoongi found music
SUGA is a genius, how he can write a song about a piano that moves me to tears is beyond me! ❤
What makes him special is that he is not only songwriter, but an established producer as well

This song is a masterpiece. It hits me in the heart every time. Suga knows how to craft music, for real.
Suga is severely underrated. He's a lyrical genius and this song always makes me cry just from how powerful it is

Always such deep, deep emotion in Suga’s personal music. He is amazing. This song always gets me in the feels🥺
