      Appreciate Video clip! Apologies for chiming in, I am interested in your initial thoughts. Have you considered - Riddleagan Smart Hands Remedy (google it)? It is a great one of a kind guide for learning piano fast without the normal expense. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my friend Sam at last got cool results with it.

    You're a OG. You explain very important concepts like "already knowing the info when you start the book" and that type of things that everyone REALLY ACTUALLY bumps upon when you are actually walking on the road to learning jazz piano. I immediately had a good feeling when you started talking and i could tell that you have a very clear vision and way of explaining. I really like this. Thank you!

    Enjoy all the channels you mentioned. Yours,Aime’s and Kent’s are probably the most useful to me at my level so thanks so much for the content. Often wondered if the theory book by mark levine adds more to the piano book which i have. Is it worth getting both?

    Tim Richard's and Philipp Moehrke's books are also very helpful in studying blues, jazz and latin (-piano).

    I am a trained classically trained pianist but have been playing with a jazz combo for about a year and a half now and had to pick up the style quick. Used Mark Levine’s book for a lot, did a lot of listening but there are still some things I’m trying to get better at. Improv does not come naturally to me (with the exception of like blues rock, that stuff I picked up super quick). So I’m still working but hopefully I get better, after spending years working on one style it feels weird starting from scratch on the same instrument

    I, too, was surprised to learn that RIck Beato was an Atlanta homie. His footprint, though, has recently expanded to international stature due to recent trips abroad.

    Very helpful. At my current level my big problem right now is playing "stab chords" in the left hand while playing right hand II-V-I exercise patterns that use Dorian/Half-whole dim scale,/Lydian major. I have had to resort to writing down some left hand "stab chord" patterns so I can practice them against a right hand line using a metronome at slow tempos. For example, the "Park the Car" left hand pattern. Sure wish you could provide some written exercises and lessons on this vexing subject.

    • @TonyWinston
      @TonyWinston  5 лет назад

      What is park the car??

    • @robertgloverjr
      @robertgloverjr 5 лет назад

      @@TonyWinston "Park the Car" is explained on pages 19-21 of Jeb Patton's 2013 book, "An Approach to Comping; The Essentials; A Guide to Jazz Accompanying". "Who Parked The Car" is analogous to the bebop scat phrase, "Ooh bop sh'bam". When recited in rhythm, these phrases form highly effective comping rhythms. Often it is easier to use a phrase (as silly as it seems) to sing the rhythm so you don't have to count.
