I have one question for those that do not believe in evolution and especially those who can not conceive that modern humans have a direct connection to other modern apes.
Do you really think people make this stuff up? Do you really think they are making huge leaps to draw a connection between these long dead species of hominid that gave rise to us either directly or were on the same path but hit a dead end. Can you really look at other modern apes, and I say other because YOU ARE an ape, and not see any connection to them?
I am sure you look at turtle and a tortoise and sea turtles and have no problem seeing how they can be linked to a common ancestor. So tell me how that is so different from the vast variations of monkeys and apes, us included.
Can you really look at the skull of robust australopithecines and see nothing familiar?

Young Earth creationists just avoid this kind of *really well explained* subject. Look at all the adaptations over millions and millions of years. Just amazing.

Greg Cunningham Don't you see, it't just not possible to have that much change over 6000 years and that all the time there has ever been. you can turn a wolf into a 1000 different kind of dog but you can't make man out of a monkey!
Which only shows how quickly you can make an Ass out of a man.

+Tom Leeds Common design, not common descent. Apes are anatomically like humans. I don't believe land and sea turtles have a common ancestor either, common design.

Xavion251 Well certainly, if there was a designer, but there isn't one. I mean, come on, Harry Potter could have done a better job of design and he is just as real as anything you believe in.
But tell you what, if you can come up with a reason to have the same basic design for a sea turtle and a land turtle and the reason why there are hundreds of variations on that design. OH, and please explain why there are 6000 species of ant. Because evolution does a great job of explaining it, whereas MAGIC, that creation to you, and ID for those who want to pretend they don't believe in creation, does nothing to explain anything.

***** " I will believe that we came directly from apes"
And that is why you fail to understand, you have bought into the confession that religion pushes.
Do you think you came directly from your cousin? How about you second cousin. Third cousin? No, of course not, The other great apes are your cousins, not you ancestors. Go back enough generations and we are linked but that was millions of years ago.
How about the dozens of hominids that have gone extinct? Do you think you came from Neaderthals? No, they are just another cousin, though a much closer one.
If you are convinced of creation it will be difficult to let yourself understand evolution.
Can you believe that Lions and tigers and bob cats and a tabby have a common ancestor? or were they also all specially created?
A lot of change can happen in a million years so toss in another hundred million years and then a couple hundred more.
