Just for clarity, we did show the grey dial version on a bracelet, however, it is just available on a strap as of now. Sorry if this caused confusion; we just wanted to demonstrate the ease of changing bracelets with straps with the new quick-release system. Let's hope they roll out the grey on a bracelet soon enough. Thanks for watching and for the continued support!
Teddy I hope you're reading this, if it helps with pronouncing the Tsuyosa, just pronounce it as Sue-Yo-Suh
@@Dazulolwarrior I am giving it my best attempt to say it in Japanese, given they are a Japanese company, which translates to mean strength where the t is not silent, from my understanding. I probably should contact Citizen to be certain, as I have heard many different ways people pronounce this.
@@TeddyBaldassarrefrom my very limited knowledge of Japanese, you would be correct, but still it’d be pronounced Tsue-yo-sah?
Are the leather straps aftermarket?
@@TeddyBaldassarre hi teddy. As the other commenter mentioned it’s pronounced “sue-yo-sah”. Think of it being pronounced similarly to tsunami. The “tsu” vowel means that the “sue” is pronounced more forcefully. You can double check on deepl translator too if that helps, the hiragana (japanese characters) are つよさ.
Thank you for giving Citizen some spotlight!
No problem. The brand has had some solid releases as of late that cater more to the collecting community.
I agree. I always thought he was holding a grudge. I couldn't believe that The Citizen collection didn't get more press from TB. I'm a Citizen diehard.
Citizen has been killing it lately
A cracking timepiece from Citizen at the price point
Citizen is going places!!!!!!
Agreed....
To Hell...
I literally bought one (blue dial) last Saturday and I really like it a lot.
Same here. It's replacing my sky blue Direnzo Mondial. And getting me some money back...
I bought the blue version as soon as I saw it. Had a discount on it that matched the price of the old one. In natural light is closer to turquoise. Accuracy is fantastic, +1 sec a day fully wound
Great to see Citizen review, I think the most underrated Watch Brand out there, I never quite understand the focus on 50 meter vs 100 meter comparisons etc, what percentage of watch owners ever dive 50 meters never mind 100 meters or more, pretty irrelevant for the vast majority of watch owners I would think.
As a non professional free diver I kind of agree. The times I go below 30m are few and far between haha
50m is swim worthy, but I wouldn’t dive with a 50m watch.
The rating comes from a lab test that is static at pressures of fresh, clean water at those simulated depths. It doesn’t take into account the added pressure from salt water, the movement while swimming or diving, and other factors.
The reason why it’s important is that if your watch is rated to 30 meters, that’s what we call “splash proof” where you could wash your hands, or maybe do some laps in a pool and be certain your watch won’t get water in it. If it’s less than 30 meters, it’s basically not worth getting water besides maybe some light rain.
It’s a slightly misleading rating system, but hopefully this gives you some context about it. Teddy has a video on watch terms and goes over this a little bit as well in there.
Are they underrated? I thought they were one of the most popular and pretty well regarded within their price bracket.
5atm is not suitable for regular swimming or swim sports. It's measured with still water not with someone splashing around. You cant swim whatsoever with a 5 atm watch.
I think their NJ0180 models are comparable and feels like the next step from these Tsuyosas, looking forward to a review of those as well, Teddy! Great stuff
Got one in blue a couple of weeks ago using the voucher I received when getting a Tuddor BB 41 monochrome so with discount was free! Loved the textured dial in store and on videos under artificial lights which really showcase the dial but in reality most of the time just looks flat blue. Accuracy is amazing.... +2 seconds on a winder overnight over 12 days. Strap is OK but no microadjustment means I have to wear it a little tight. Smart looking timepiece that pairs well for both casual and for work and adds a new shade of blue to my never ending collection.
Any time I look at getting a new watch, I see if Teddy has a review first. Not biased, not snobby, and always well-made review videos no matter the price of the piece he's talking about. I have finally subscribed!
The Tsyuosa in blue is a stunner. I just got mine. That crown is easy to wind, just use your index finger and rub it downwards.
The blue is striking and very versatile. The contrast silver small seconds dial just makes it look so fresh, especially with the dial pattern. Everything about the watch shines. It's an attention getter, no doubt.
Agreed 100% with you 👍🇮🇳
that’s how i do it too. Big w
Dear Teddy, you always mispronounce it, but I finally need to address it - the Tsuyosa is called the "Tsu" (like shitzu's tzu. technically not most accurate, but it is the closest in the English language that I can think of) and "Yo-sa". Thanks 😂
Alternatively, it can be pronounced "Sue-yosa" 😊
Thank you!!!
Yes, like in tsunami.
@@MrZepharus no, because that would be す, while this is つ, which are two totally different words. The Tsuyosa is written as 強さ/つよさ. There’s a bit of a “z” in the front of the pronounciation. Not watch related but as someone who speaks Japanese, it was getting a bit on my nerves after many videos 😂
Thank christ somebody else said it. I've seen 3 different youtuber pronounce it wrong and I don't know why they all pronounce it wrong. It's killing me.
Great video Teddy! Thank you for sharing this information. Your customer service team is the best in the business.
Thank you for your continued support, Dr. Bob.
So glad you covered this piece! Great to come from one of the most trustworthy people in the space.
Would love if would cover Citizens new Titanium Small seconds release also
Citizen has been on a hot streak in the last couple of years. They have been putting out many compelling designs such as ones in this product line as well as some jdm models. I do plan to pick up one of these eventually, just not sure which one.
I'm glad that Teddy is giving some attention to this product line. It's odd that he's an AD for Citizen but hardly talks about their watches.
Thank you, Teddy for all your insightful videos . I always look forward to new content from you and your team
Been watching your videos for a while now and was inspired to start a collection. Started with the amzwatch, its specs for price and clean looks, now am looking for a dress watch to add.
For just over $500 AUD it ticks more boxes than the PRX. It would be interesting to see this side by side with the 40mm PRX.
IMO 50m water resistance is plenty. Everyone gets hung up on 100m. Let’s face it the $13500 Speedmaster has 50m WR.
I think this will be a hit for many watch enthusiasts who want another wallet friendly stylish automatic watch that is $600 cheaper than the PRX.
My yellow Tsuyosa is great. It's the watch I get most positive comments on, despite owning much more expensive other watches.
But damn. Did Citizen just fix all my issues with it? The bracelet, clasp and mostly the crown.
Hope many other people get to enjoy this new model.
Definitely feel that the new Tsuyosa is an upgrade to the previous. I do prefer the crown of the original, despite it being easier to use in the upgrade, as it makes for a cleaner look (in the original). I do prefer the new bracelet, dial design, colors and especially the small seconds.
I got the golden one, arriving today, I was going for blue but too may blue watches nowadays so decided to try something different.
It’s a mix of Nomos and Tissot PRX.
"Not that there's anything wrong with that."
Nah PRX is 💩
@@FullJikamanah it’s not, it’s kinda overhyped and too many people own it but it’s a nice watch
@@apkoevoet3488 yes it is FOR ME, you gotta respect that, everyone can think different.
I love the tsuyosa because of the presidential bracelet style
Reminds me of how the omega aqua Terra small seconds looks
that dial without a secondtimer i would buy it instantly. But the secondtimer is a no go.
Also, this NA Prices are insane. This Watch is 375 euro price, on amazon or other shops its around 320 or on primeday it was 300.
Finally Citizen released a no-date version 🥳
why is it that people find a less practical watch more desirable?
@@ARPerez because you know...some persons wear watches because they like how they appear.
For time reading we have smartphones, for special purpose needs smartwatch/watches like G-Shocks...
99% of watches around are basically jewellery so can vary based on tastes.
I can buy the small seconds for 420euros in Greece where usually we stand at 20% more expensive that the prices of US.
Watches are so delicate and intricately designed, so I have intense respect and admiration for amzwatch watch makers
Thank you for making high quality videos!Love amzwatch ’s watches
It always amazes me how much beauty and precision are added to the parts of amzwatch's watch 99% of people will never see.
Citizen need to release a smaller 38mm version with a tapered bracelet and I'm in!
It always amazes me how much beauty and precision are added to the parts of mamacoo's watch 99% of people will never see.
Been waiting for you to touch on the Tsuyosa. The case shape is great! Personally, drawn to the older dial, but do find small seconds complications to be calming.
Love this watch. Have it for maybe 3 weeks and i am suprised. Salute from Croatia
When I saw the small seconds Tusyosa, I was very interested but I wanted a date complication. While I was looking at it, I saw a video for the new Citizen NJ0180-x family of watches. Those watches are everything the small seconds Tsuyosa is and more. They have a very cool textured dial, date complication, and are made of titanium (my favorite watch material). I looked high and low for a US retailer, but ended up getting one from a European website for about $405 delivered (and it arrived in less than a week from the day I ordered it). I’ll be keeping an eye out to see if I can pick up another one from a US based retailer (hint hint Teddy) in the future.
". . . Hard to grasp," period, my guy. Love you, Teddy. Thanks for all the content. Seriously.
MaMacoo You are so well-informed about luxury watches. You've obviously done your due diligence and the comparison to the US is very informative...because of course, I live in New York. thank you very much
"Su-Yo-Sa" - not si-yo-sa. First Japanese character is "Tsu" but you can drop the T and sound better for those of us who speak Japanese.
Ignoring that, however your pronounce it, you hit the mark that it is a fantastic watch and delivers a surprising level of values built in for a great look - and a great price. Citizen has been punching up, and delivering also at great value.
And a fast update - I just got it in blue, and wowza! Great look, bracelet even more refined that I expected, fit is slim, a great fun summer watch as well as every day watch... Teddy's review is spot on, and the small seconds definitely is the more refined vs the date Tsuyosa.
Ive been putting off this watch because I'm more into divers but with the sale going on I'm like well let me see if Teddy has a video over this watch and boom you uploaded it today 😀.
It must be a sign🙂
I bought this watch in all the 3 versions. I ordered last week the first one in brown-yellow color, I liked so much that I continue to order 2 todays later the blue One. I then decided to get also the grey One. In germany it cost me 349 € for the brown-yellow/blue, and 339€ for the grey color.
Great Design, between PRX and higher, beautiful new dials, etc... BUT its a Miyota Movement meaning its not precise and when the hand bumps the watch the stem will move making it much more unprecise. But for the price who cares that its not a chronometer or that it becomes more un precise?.
Kuroshio 64 with Green Dial, that's a beauty as well Teddy
When it comes to fine imitation watches, amzwatch delivers. I've bought from them several times, and I've never been let down.
The small second version of the Tsuyosa really elevates an already great watch to the next level. And with some research you can find them from 399-450, which is a steal for the amount of features and appeal this watch possesses.
Man I want to love Citizen, but for some reason I just cant get on board. This is definitely a nice PRX alternative though.
Very much PRX vibes. I think they are wanting some of that piece of the pie.
Hi Teddy. Thanks for the video! BTW, the pronunciation for Tsuyosa is "Suyosa" The T is kinda silent. Just a tip :)
He definitely gets it wrong but the T is not silent. "Su" and "Tsu" are different syllables in Japanese
Yes I agree with you on your points. Hence why I said "kinda silent" its a very soft T at the beginning. Nearly unnoticable if you simply pronounce is as 'suyosa'. It is difficult to say it perfectly if Japanese isn't your native language.
@@solverxd is Japanese your first language? I think you can hear/learn the difference quite clearly when you go through the syllables, like a-e-u-i-o ... tzu, zu and su are just different.
@@xiansheng1695 it is my first language. You dont need to tell me. Tell Teddy lol. Im trying to help him get it 95% correct without breaking his brain with a lesson on Japanese. I just dont want him to keep saying Tuyosa like he has been the whole time.
@@solverxd lol, fair enough. I was quite baffled by how he could get it THAT wrong (sounds like a totally different word), so maybe your approach was indeed more helpful.
Thanks! The blue one could be on my short list, for sure!
I wish the hands would be a little wider with more precence luminova, to balance up with the nice indexes. But I have not seen the watches IRL, so…
I got the teal center seconds a few months ago when it was finally available in the US. The only thing I hate is the crown is so hard to use. I was going to pass on the small seconds, but knowing the crown is easier to use is making me reconsider.
It's a cool looking watch! I really like the general look and the placement of the crown, too. I looked at the original Tsuyosa a lot before opting for the 35mm PRX instead. Two things did it for me.
It's not 2009 anymore, and watches are getting smaller. A 40mm watch that wears like a 42mm just feels a little big today. Also, the 70s style more suits a quartz, Citizen could have put a wonderful Eco-Drive in these watches but instead they were predictable and put a mechanical Miyota, which is a real shame.
I really hope there's a more 70s like smaller version in the future, with an Eco-Drive in there too. In fact, bump the price up a little and put in a higher end quartz movement. That would be about perfect.
That brown green one is for me
I usually wear vintage so small seconds have an appeal for me. This is one to keep an eye on.
First! Been waiting for this review for a while now! To my knowledge, the grey variant comes with a leather strap, not the steel bracelet. 1:25 Do you sell the steel bracelet on its own?
You are correct that the grey just comes on the strap and is not available on the bracelet. We just swapped them around without much thought when shooting. Sorry if this caused confusion.
@@TeddyBaldassarre No worries, all good. Thanks Teddy and team for the clarification!
I have an eco drive and love it more then my omega for the price u get a lot and it looks good as well.
After first laying my eyes on the new Rolex 1908 platinum that has that ice blue guilloche dial, I’ve been looking for things that have a similar style in terms of pattern and color. This is a nice alternative in terms of dial pattern and color which I might have to pick up ! Right now I’m looking to buy the Seiko Presage cocktail time that has a nice ice blue dial and more dressy look which gives me a similar 1908 platinum look/feel.
It would be perfect at 38mm in diameter.
Would like to see it in 37 or 38mm
These new ones feel more winter fall while the older ones are more summer spring. We will see my mood when the season changes.
When people are saying #amzwatch is a better option for buying a watch,I very much agree!
No date/cyclops makes this a win. Thanks for the review.
Nicer look than the PRX imo. Really like these.
I have never been disappointed since I became a customer of amzwatch. Their watches are of exceptional quality.
I own the blue dial version and am loving it, beautiful watch. I love what Citizen are up to currently, how about a feature on the recent GMT automatic, the 365 eco-drive limited edition or some of the other recent releases?
A very handsome GADA! Thanks for the review, Teddy.
I really like the look of this watch (Im a sucker for small seconds complications) but see nothing distinctive here that hasn’t been done many, many times before.
"Cons" like the 50m resistance always crack me up. 99% of people aren't bringing these further underwater than a foot or two as they dive below a wave at the beach. Such a moot point that really just attests to what fantastic quality the vast majority of watches are nowadays. I really like this watch and will certainly be adding it to my "eventual purchases" list haha
Thank you Teddy another great detail review for the books 📚
Second!!! Massive Citizen fan, glad I’m here so early
The small seconds Citizen look nice.
Love the small seconds and no date. If they were rated at 100M - I'd be running out to get one. For me 50M means it's safe to wear in the rain or while washing my hands and not much else. What a shame.
I really like the blue dial. 👌
Love the tsuyosa 1gen
Purchased the blue dial less than a month ago. Love it!
Gotta check out the Super Titanium 39mm Citizen Forza!
Has anyone tried to put on blue silicone strap to the blue watch? What do you think, will it suit it good, or its better with the bracelet?
Now the real question is, this vs the NJ0180. Different movement but the NJ0180 has their "super titanium" case instead and seems to be cheaper.
Great update, but for a few bucks more, their new NJ0180 titanium models have a much better looking dial.
I like their new style but ultimately I bought the original Tsuyosa in « Tiffany blue ». I love a date complication, I like the way the light reflect on the dial better and I already have a PRX with a textured dial so I wanted something different for the dial since they’re both integrated bracelet watches. But I agree, the crown is infuriating to manipulate. 🙂
595 isnt bad price id just say put mirco adjustments but price wise for what it offers. Its reasonable
Hi Teddy,
I don't know why no one talks about the citizen zenshin NJ0180 series, which is way better with super titanium and bracelet, similar to the prx / citizen series 8 with textured dial and still affordable
The tsuyosa line is the best thing to ever happen to citizen.
What you call blue, I call green. Lovely color. But I see the second hand as a distraction. It does not appear that you can control it separately. When you say hacking, I assume it means synchronizing
Hi Teddy, have you seen the new Forza line from Citizen? Really curious how those actually break down vs these small seconds models.
I wonder if Citizen is pushing towards a GS competitor. Would only make sense. I live GS but I’ve loved Citizen for
Many years. I have 3. My most of any brand. 25% of my collection
I don't think that you can go wrong with this series of watches. To me all the Tsuyosas look and feel more expensive than they are: they're well designed and full of character, especially the small seconds models.
I just got into watch collecting. I've loved watches since I was young but I never had anyone teach me or bring deeper into the world. mamacoo brought closer to a community and hobby I always wanted to get into more and that is incredibly meaningful to me !
Hi everyone! I’m new to the watch scene and am looking for something under about $700, I like the Tissot PRX but this Citizen is also amazing. I’ve been looking at the Seiko Alpinist too, is there any more watches anyone suggests and if so why?
Don't know why you'd get a Seiko 5 with this now on the market. So clean
Teddy, it's pronounced as soo-yo-suh if you're still struggling
Very informative presentation. Thanks.
When it comes to fine imitation watches, mamacoo delivers. I've bought from them several times, and I've never been let down.
In Europe they only cost 379€
Its just crazy how much more they cost in the US.
Good video teddy thanks for the information.
taste is subjective, but I certainly like this better than the PRX
The o'clock crown kills it for me personally, but I do like the direction of the upgrade
I like this one. With the leather looks great as well.
Cool watches. Thanks Teddy!
Was this correct that it’s on your 6.5” wrist? It looks too good a fit for the size of the watch and wrist size. I saw overhang on other videos with a 6.75” wrist.
just got my blue one 🤗🤗
These look great!! I have 3 Eco-Drive Citizen watches, but have lost interest in them lately. This could be a nice one to get!
Me no fun of small second hand. Big centered second hand me liked more. Other than that, nice watch.
