Perhaps this song's lyrics makes no sense for those who speak English, but it has something to do with the story of CLANNAD. 〝the place 〟means the place where wishes come true, which Nagisa refers as to in the story. Also the latter of the lyrics may mean the fantasy world where a girl and a robot exist. The lyrics are grammatically incorrect, but they suggest the world of CLANNAD truely. In addition, its melody is based on Scottish folk song, Lord Saltoun and Auchanachie. This may be the reason why this song makes us somehow nostalgic. I want foreign people to enjoy the combination of Japanese animation and Scottish tradition!

When Tomoya was rewound to where Nagisa was giving birth to Ushio, he used the wish he received back when his dad when to live with his grandma. If you remember Miyazawa said that it'll grant you a wish if you get one. Tomoya indirectly used his wish when Ushio died in the street
This song makes me think of my mom. I lost her a year ago from an accident. The song is so peaceful and beautiful just like she was. I love and miss her so much. I can't wait to see her again.

this song is otherworldly, I can’t tell you how much this song singlehandedly changed my view on life. Before I heard this song I viewed the world along with life as if it were a dull pencil, but after this song started to play, the world became so very vibrant all kinds of colors lit up in my life and I was being opened up to many opportunities, so many that I didn’t know hat to do with them and I was overwhelmed by this complexity and I decided to cry. I cried for hours on hours and I typed out every feeling I had both for the song and the Tomoyo episode until I undoubtedly passed out from drowsiness. Without a doubt, this song is truly a beautiful creation. It also made me think about all of my childhood memories that I am very fond of to this day. 8 years ago when I was 22, I started teaching myself Japanese after discovering anime. I put this on my iPod and would listen to it as I jogged in the morning as the sun rose.
I wanna back to the first time I watched and listened to this song in 2012. I used to watch Clannad in the wrong order, I started watching from Tomoyo OVA without having any knowledge about the series at all. But that TomoyaxTomoyo snow scene + this soundtrack really broke my heart. I still remember that I sat in the corner of my bed and thinking why did I even cry over an episode of anime. Good times. I'm glad I started into anime with Jun Maeda's works.
Not my first time crying because of cartoon or anime, but there's something different about Clannad. The feeling is so strong, I can't even hold back my tears

To make a long story short, was taken into foster care but now that I'm older, I can see my parents again. They still live in the same housing project in downtown Toronto, They may hate it, but for me, it's more than just a house. I don't care the lyrics, this is my favorite track of Clannad, because it expresses the feelings of the scene and happiness/sadness of the characters. This also softens up people even more, like at Kouko's wedding, and the endings of the 2 OVA's (Tomoyo's and Kyou's arcs, respectively). It just makes me wanna take a shot at myself, I can't resist how beautiful the song sounds (at least for me) and I always breakdown in my will and heart (but physically I just fill my vision with tears)... oh god
Just watched the scenes once more (clannad marathon-weekend xD) and still think they're the most beautiful to watch though you'll definetly have to cry.. I love all the Animes made by KEY so far, hope there will be more coming in the future :D

To critically look at an anime, you need to prevent yourself from being mesmerised by it. Just because it makes you cry doesn't mean that all the aspects of it are actually better, and by aspects I mean art, music, sound, animation, plot progression and all of that good jazz. Most people here don't consider what really makes a good anime and base things on how hard they cried. I've watched this 7 times, and the first 2 times I too thought it was the best anime ever. Experience changed my mind.

+Heather Smith Lia is fluent in English. She lived some time in USA and recorded her first song (Tori no Uta, Air's opening) in Los Angeles. So I just can't imagine how she felt when she recorded this song.
I guess she indeed didn't know and was just given the lyrics and probably had to rehearse how to pronounce each one, but I guess someone who was able to understand english would have been better, but her pronunciation is pretty good though, I guess using google translate voice over for words kinda did the trick to that, and I guess they did indeed use google translate to directly translate entire sentences because they do make no sense at all but for them they might, as kanji and stuff have different meanings so stuff like the place being a profound lord might mean something else

I used to watch Clannad in the wrong order, I started watching from Tomoyo OVA without having any knowledge about the series at all. But that TomoyaxTomoyo snow scene + this soundtrack really broke my heart.
I still remember that I sat in the corner of my bed and thinking why did I even cry over an episode of anime.

To make a long story short, was taken into foster care but now that I'm older, I can see my parents again. They still live in the same housing project in downtown Toronto, They may hate it, but for me, it's more than just a house. It's the place where I remember first living, no matter how run down and roach infested it is.

I don't care the lyrics, this is my favorite track of Clannad, because it expresses the feelings of the scene and happiness/sadness of the characters. This also softens up people even more, like at Kouko's wedding, and the endings of the 2 OVA's (Tomoyo's and Kyou's arcs, respectively). It just makes me wanna take a shot at myself, I can't resist how beautiful the song sounds (at least for me) and I always breakdown in my will and heart (but physically I just fill my vision with tears)... oh god
Just watched the scenes once more (clannad marathon-weekend xD) and still think they're the most beautiful to watch though you'll definetly have to cry.. I love all the Animes made by KEY so far, hope there will be more coming in the future :D

To critically look at an anime, you need to prevent yourself from being mesmerised by it. Just because it makes you cry doesn't mean that all the aspects of it are actually better, and by aspects I mean art, music, sound, animation, plot progression and all of that good jazz. Most people here don't consider what really makes a good anime and base things on how hard they cried. I've watched this 7 times, and the first 2 times I too thought it was the best anime ever. Experience changed my mind.
There's no way the singer actually knew what she was saying. How could you sing so passionately and beautifully when what you're saying is, literally, gibberish.
Hey do you know what ost it is where it kind of sounds like the last 45 seconds of this song but without the singer and some kind of flute that sounds like it was done electrical with a synthesizer or some kind of electric piano? I thought i rembered hearing it not too long ago when ryou confessed to tomoya in the kyou ova but when i checked it wasnt there.
+Heather Smith Lia is fluent in English. She lived some time in USA and recorded her first song (Tori no Uta, Air's opening) in Los Angeles. So I just can't imagine how she felt when she recorded this song.
I guess she indeed didn't know and was just given the lyrics and probably had to rehearse how to pronounce each one, but I guess someone who was able to understand english would have been better, but her pronunciation is pretty good though, I guess using google translate voice over for words kinda did the trick to that, and I guess they did indeed use google translate to directly translate entire sentences because they do make no sense at all but for them they might, as kanji and stuff have different meanings so stuff like the place being a profound lord might mean something else
