Longchamp L'Original Le Pliage XL Travel Bag: Made in France VS Made in China |What's the Difference

  • Hey guys! In this video I compare two of the same handbags: the Longchamp L'Original Le Pliage XL Travel Bag BUT one of them is made in France while the other is made in China.
Although these two bags are the same, there are many, many, many differences between them! Once you pay closer attention, it is easy to see that they look and feel completely different. Yes, I said COMPLETELY different!
Oh and once you have seen the difference, you cannot unsee them!
All I am going to say is that I’d rather pay more and get a Longchamp bag that is Made in France, its country of origin.
You'll have to watch the video to see the rest 😉

Got an older Longchamp recently but made in China. However the handles are soft and the print on the flap isn’t so visible either. The bag is 100% genuine (authenticated). The fabric was thinner but I noticed on the newer bags made in China the fabric is thicker and more sturdy, so clearly there has been some change in the bags made in China too. That’s quite interesting. Thank you for your video 😊❤

I’d have to say that most of the differences related to texture, shine and stiffness have to do with the age of each bag to a great extent.
Also, obviously the techniques as well as the tools have changed over time..
    For better or worse.

I agree....to me...if its not made in France, its not a luxury lompchamp bag anymore, but a nylon bag, stamped with the name...lompchamp have cut back on the Finnish...

Omg I saw these made in china pieces. That’s why I stopped buying. I really thought it was fake but it’s was sold in the department store. I can see the big difference too when I tried it. The leather is different. Thanks for sharing this comparison. I’m glad to know that even in the store in France has these made in china ones.

I can't agree on this one, and not to be mean to your review by any means! But i have come in contact with 6 le pliage, 2 being mine, all used for around the same amount of time, and the leather on the china made ones goes soooo soft after a little bit of use, one can't tell the slightest difference.. I'm so happy with both my pieces even if they're made in different factories 💙

Thanks for your detailed review! I find it especially interesting that Longchamp sells bags produced in China in France even though on their website it says that they still have half of their production sites (6 I think) in France. So I don't get why the stores in France don't sell the "locally" manufacuted ones since they advertise to try to be as sustainable as possible and shipping bags from china to a country with half of your production sites seems not that way🤔

I noticed the difference with new bags, i was wondering if i was imaging it😅 I bought most of my longchamp bags over 10-15 years ago & nowadays half of the models are discontinued. However i do find bag handles stiffness good for travel, because smoother ones get ruined quite easily😕

Wait a second! If ALL Longchamp Le Pliage bags are made in China now -- including authentic ones -- why compare one made in China to one made in France (again, where it is no longer made)? Am I misunderstanding this?

    • @DonnaIsabella
      @DonnaIsabella  9 месяцев назад +1

      Hello!
A lot of people still buy pre-owned Longchamp pieces on the secondary market that are made in France. I felt it was interesting to compare the quality between the different production lines of the same model over the years. And remind everybody how sad it is, that a lot of companies are producing overseas mainly for cost reduction purposes. Take care Christina 😊

Interesting video. But, I don't think the differences are because of where the bag is made. I have one that is about 10-15 years old and is made in China. The leather is super soft! They just changed the way the way the item is produced, as well as the materials being used. If there was a difference between the bags due to where they were made, that would be a huge quality control issue. Louis Vuitton, for instance, makes their bags both in Europe and in the US. I have pieces from the US and Europe, and you cannot tell the difference...despite what some people say. Again, interesting video though!

    • @DonnaIsabella

I respect your opinion and I thank you for sharing it with all of us on RUclips 😊 I still feel like the country of origin can influence the final product. In many other example outside of the Le Pliage from Longchamp, it is often seen that quality decreases when production is brought overseas. Take care !

@@DonnaIsabella Yes, very fair point! I actually have shoes from Greats. Three pairs are made in Italy and all fit the same. One other pair is made in China and fits bigger! So, yes you’re right. I think it depends on the brands, too, and what standards they set. Mulberry moved some of their production to China, but my bag is wonderful! I actually like it better than the one I have that is made in England. It’s all very interesting. It would be nice if there was better quality control. I have been catching up on your videos, and I love your collection of goodies! Thanks for sharing!
