Mike Lane - Hendrix said that he played a right handed Strat (even though he was left handed) because he could reach the tremolo arm (whammy bar) half a second faster than on a left handed guitar. In reality, he just though it looked cool, and it became part of his gimmick. Although, Stevie Ray Vaughn used a correct right handed Strat, but changed the bridge to a left handed one so he could get to the tremolo arm faster.
