The legend of the Hollywood Vampires began in the upstairs rooms inside the wicked halls of legendary Rainbow Bar and Grill on Sunset Strip in Hollywood in 1972. Surrounded by plenty of memorabilia on the walls, the location became the home away from home for stars like Alice Cooper, Ringo Starr, John Belushi, John Lennon, Keith Moon, Keith Emerson, Harry Nilsson, Marc Bolan and many more to get their (often) daily fixture. The staff at the Rainbow dubbed the crew the Hollywood Vampires - their very own secret late-night drinking club. More than 40 years later, Cooper and good friend Johnny Depp got together and decided the spirit of the Hollywood Vampires should live on (minus the drinking). They were joined by Aerosmith lead guitarist Joe Perry, who is an old friend of both and Tommy Henriksen, longtime friend of Alice Cooper, band member and producer.
In 2019 they released their second album 'Rise'.

I lost my mom 2 years ago. My dad was with her over 60 years. And is a huge music fan. He had told me last week that there are no good bands anymore. That all the good music that came in the 60's-80's is just gone. He does not want to be here on this plane of existence without mom and nothing has made him have any desire to go on. I introduced him to the Hollywood Vampires last week, and he is now a die hard fan. He is so impressed with the artistic talent and all the music coming from Johnny. I am so grateful right now! Johnny has given my father life again..... I can never thank him enough. I know this is not about this subject above, but I just had to speak out to say that Johnny saves lives. His talent and genuine personality have made my father a forever fan! He is actually looking forward to seeing this movie...and he hates films.
Forgive me but what movie do you speak of

How long have you been a fan of mine??
Some proper love for the late great Jim Carroll. Well done.
He has a great story. He was about 11 or 12 when he discovered playing guitar. A few years later he went to LA to pursue a music career. Then he went into acting to pay rent. You could say he acted to support his music career.
And he is a phenomenal actor.
Now he is selling his paintings. a Renaissance man.
Johnny can do anything! He is gifted with talent beyond the stars🌟🪐☀️
96% of my friends have died, and I'm 50!😢😮 so this song gets all of them a jam where ever they are at! R.I.P. my 96%!!😢
That is a fucked up rate. What the hell you guys did on a daily basis? Shooting up heroin and eating bigmacs while chainsmoking?

nicely said
agree with samjones 👍
Don’t you mean Amber Turd? 💩
To me it shows so much respect for the greatest!
I wish I could like this a million times. As a fellow man who has been trapped in an emotionally and physically abusive relationship, I'm so happy for Johnny doing what makes him happy for real. Rock on brother!! 🤘😁🤘
I like them covering Jim Carrol Basketball Diaries was a good film too why does society hate a street junkie like that but worship Jordan Belfort two DiCaprio junkie true story characters interesting societal expectations as for you and your abusive situation either gender they just blame you if you don't leave Johnny Amber no kids both wealthy so no excuse for either of them imo.
I'm 53 and Johnny Depp is fantabulous!!
I'm 60, and he's still fantabulous! 😊
44 here. Johnny is still superfab.
Wow, they really did this song justice!.. You can tell Johnny was no doubt a fan of the Jim Carroll Band back in 1980..
He struggled with addiction...most of us in recovery know Jim Carroll..just saying...he felt it
Johnny lost a lot of friends coming up. River Phoenix in particular. They were best of friends.
This song is not just a song, it's felt deeply by anyone who has survived. Xxx
Agree
Johnny who?
Holy SHIT! can't believe they're doing this! I saw the Jim Carroll band here in Jersey back in the late 80's at this ripping club called the Meadowbrook. The place was PACKED and he effin' KILLED IT! OMG!
I can't get enough of this and it's going to eventually be may funeral tune lol xx
Saw the pain in ur eyes Johnny
R.I.P to everyone who lost someone this last year

Johnny, you do our generation proud!!! We love you. Truly. 💙
Just gotta say one of the best concerts. It was the last one I had the chance to spend with my mom. But im glad she got to see them. Gotta see them again for her.

I’m early 60’s and remember listening to this “tape” like it was yesterday. Long live REAL Rock & Roll
@@pjfan173 Same here ...kinda cause I still do
The subject matter is actually sad, but playing it with a fast rock beat delivers it as a tribute too the friends that have passed on first, instead of a heartbreaking song.
Jim Carroll knew what he wanted from his thought of the industry players.
Me too, it wont be long for me, but ill face it with rock n roll in my heart!👌🏼😃🎸
i dont thnk its a sad at all, death is part of life.
I hear ya. I fell in love with this song the first time I heard it & the sad thing is it sounds like a song I could have written about friends I've lost over the years from drug, alcohol, suicide etc. Fell in love with the movie "Basketball Diaries" first time I seen it too! It's sad that he passed away at 60. Anyway - I LOVE THIS COVER & JOHNNY DEPP!

@@selinaweeks1822 Ya know you are totally right. As I'm writing, I lost my sister today. Fucking cancer. She turns 60 a month ago. Three kids she was a terrific mother for. A a good man, and father who's lost his wife. She hasn't seen her kids marry yet, isn't there when her kids make her became a grandmother, but yeah you sit there in your death is a natural part of life bullshit. Ain't nobody that doubts that or disagrees with you, but it isn't always rainbows & sunshine or it definitely ain't that easy to accept for the people who are left behind.

Love the video. The black-and-white shots evoke memories of a different era, but the Vampires have an energy that is very much in the here and now. Love the song, too...

Johnny Depp was in NYC and was actually more interested in pursuing a career as a musician than as an actor, but then he got a call for an acting job in the Philippines, in a movie called Platoon. The rest is, as they say, history.
