Looking back at it today, this was extremely technically ambitious for a PS1 game. I mean check out how much of the environment is destructible, literally every texture tile has damage variations, polygons fly when stuff breaks, sprinklers activate when the roof is shot, etc. Crazy!
Kinda something that hasn't improved in nowadays modern games . All what they care about is shiny über graphics but a ZERO gameplay . This game Die Hard Trilogy is ahead of it's time , like many other older games .
@@kimnorth7060 Yeah im just playing trilogy now for the first time pt 1 was short but a blast but this is an awesome arcade style shooter old school style blaster
First game I got on the PlayStation. My parents got it for my birthday, I was so excited and grateful. I remember them watching me play this and realising how violent it was and questioning their choice. Great memories 😁
They should've used that beginning soundtrack for the movie too. I pretend the films that followed after vengeance don't exist. Die Hard trilogy was the best.
This game was the first I ever played on a PlayStation -- a few weeks before Christmas 1996, I was allowed to play the demo disc on our new console. As I was psyched to be getting Die Hard Trilogy, I played the demo of it -- a timed version of the first level. Blew my mind back then, and whenever I hear this music, it takes me right back!
If my memory serves me well, by shooting down the helicopter at the very beginning of the game, you could get a second gun ("Chow yun fat style"). Moreover, on the psx version, a cheat-code allowed you to create your own course in this rail-shooter style game. DHT, my best psx game for sure :)
Kelsey Kate smart girl, totally agree! Not many realizing this.. most get brainwashed/mindblown by simple graphics improvements.. which are such a small part in the actual enjoyment and experience of a game
Next-gens are just as fun but a different type. Sure, the quality of the campaign in a lot of games has dwindled, but playing with friends online is such a good time.
Next gen games gets boring now and only throws sand in the eyes with top notch graphics a cool cover but the gameplay isn't present anymore . Another thing i'm hating in todays games is the cinematics some of them you can't skip and they're not needed since all what the gamers want is "play the game" and not watch a movie .
This was my favourite of the three. I loved how the environment was so interactive. My favourite thing to do was to shoot the ceiling tiles and watch them fall on the bad guys.
If you watch the making of you would realise this game was not made by many people at all and it looked as though it was a low budget game . To accomplish this under those circumstances was a amazing accomplishment . They were truly legends
I used to love this with my lightgun as a kid. Spent 1000s hours playing this over and over but only ever managed to complete it in one run a handful of times
if i remember well, if you do shoot one of the helicopter at the very beginning of the first level, you do get a second beretta at the beginning and you can keep it... just a little tip ! but gosh it does bring a lot of memories indeed!!! i remember playin' this a lot!!!! ahahah thanks to you
The airport music would have to be my favorite trance synth, not just for a game background. I've got it in my music library in 320kbps grouped in with many other sound scores from other games like MDK, Tenchu Stealth Assassins and Populous etc.. I don't actually recall acquiring this one but I'm glad it's there.
Die Hard Trilogy, Tenchu, and Metal Gear Solid were my favorite games I owned on Playstation. At the time this game impressed me, with the different styles of gameplays for each movie. DIE HARD 2 was always the most violent with the physics and blood.
Better than Sega's Virtua Cop and Virtua Cop 2. In the Virtua Cop and Virtua Cop 2, if you shoot the hostage, your life decreases by 1, Die Hard 2 doesn't.
I remember when I was little kid, I got a new baby sitter and I cried because she was new and hated her. Then later we played this, she got really far and earned my respect and became my favourite xD.
I remember playing the hell out of this game, and the time I put in a debug mode cheat to change the on-rails path for a few levels to explore the maps (didn't end well).
That's crazy, as soon as I heard "Not Me!" I instantly remembered the sound "Don't shoot" like it was yesterday... so many of the sound samples evoke more nostalgia than the graphics or gameplay. Can't believe this was 30 years ago.
Memories playing with my bro chanting the movie catch phrases together, " Wanna stay alive stay with me" "what no turkey ! its christmas !" "supposed to stay in your seats until the plane reaches the terminal" "happy trails" "bad idea ! bad ! idea !" "Sooorry" "getouttaathee wayy" . "yippie kai yay " R.I.P Bro
Die Hard Trilogy based on the famous movie starring Bruce Willis as John Mclane and when I play these game is like I'm in the movie those are the memories
My friend and I spent hours playing these games back in the 90's. I had only just discovered the Die Hard films and I got the game solely because it was Die Hard, and it was actually pretty damn awesome.
Thank you so much for uploading this. I played this as a kid, but I wasn't sure if it was real or not. I couldn't remember the name of this and couldn't find this gameplay anywhere.
This one has to be my favorite out of the three also I love the fact that you basically take down the whole army in the first level and they pretty much just keep right on coming hahahaha
Memories. When this came out I was in art school in Boston, going to raves or “parties” every weekend, experimenting with LSD and MDMA for the first time. I was a Seattle SuperSonics fan, Tupac had just gotten out of jail and I had a purple graffix bong with a sega Saturn sticker on it lol.
Of the 3 this is the one I was best at, I could never finish with a vengeance though I'm sure I did eventually beat Die Hard this is the one I could constantly play and play well with both the controller and a gun.
I think this was the first game I played on my brothers PS1 he brought back on release day in 94. I was 4 haha. I had seen the first scene of Die Hard 1 when he says fists with ya toes. Such a fun game and the Trilogy concept with 3 different games in one groundbreaking.
I completed this part when I was a kid. I was always good at it. Another part I finished was Die Hard With a Vengeance. I never finished the first part. It was so difficult to reach the elevator when the bomb was triggered. (Dun-dun-dun-dun-dun...BOOM!)
Played this with actual lightgun back in 1996, it was more fun with it. It was Namco branded, but friend owned it. Friend owned the lightgun, it was really accurate btw.
I had a pretty accurate green light gun for this game. I'm sure I owned this one, not sure what happened to all of that stuff, just vanished. What was the best light gun for the ps1? I'm going to buy it and this game again.
Looking back at it today, this was extremely technically ambitious for a PS1 game. I mean check out how much of the environment is destructible, literally every texture tile has damage variations, polygons fly when stuff breaks, sprinklers activate when the roof is shot, etc. Crazy!

Man I played this game for years as a kid and never beat the Die Hard 3 part of it!
@@NewNormalWorldOrder lol I guess I was just more dedicated to it. To be fair it was my only game so I was very focussed
Always loved the airport terminal music.
wish they could remake this. SAME EVERYTHING. just more graphics
the best
Great music! Fantastic athmosfer in game, fantastic time .
yeah, the music is brilliant. i wonder who made it, anyone know?
Dullies Airport
First game I got on the PlayStation. My parents got it for my birthday, I was so excited and grateful. I remember them watching me play this and realising how violent it was and questioning their choice. Great memories 😁
How old were you?
that airport level i played about 10000 times on the demo lol
Me to bruh lol
20:56 BYE BYE bad guy :D:D
You could shoot so much shit. Everything could be shot.
I was a little kid then, one of the best games :D
Ahahahahaha same story!!
Man when the music kicks in.. Chills.
The first level music is fu@king ace. Brilliant 90's Synthesizers here
Sounds like a Kurzweil K2500 and Roland JV.
Billy Rigney reminds of a soundtrack to a van damme movie fight scene
And the tunnel level music
i wish i knew who made the music
my god, that music :) :) :) one of the best in the video game history!!!
They don't make em like this anymore!
+Dan McCafferty still seems fresh
Omg that first level music! Good old memories.
Hostages are always dumb in this type of shooters, but i'm voting the 29:35 one for top 3.
hahahah
LOL!!!
Great hips though lol
They always pissed me off as a kid and now looking back it's the most hilarious logical fallacy I've ever seen 🤣🤣🤣
Perfectly time stamped lol.. Just as you click the lunatic rears her head with her flashy damsel in distress dance
They should've used that beginning soundtrack for the movie too. I pretend the films that followed after vengeance don't exist. Die Hard trilogy was the best.
I love this game, so much fun back in the day. One of my favorite PS1 games. I could never get past the Church level though
Remake this in HD with same soundtrack, put It on PSN store
Remember getting this at Christmas 96
Hell Yes!
me too , I got it from Electronic Boutique , came with this game along with a gun controller
the developers don't want to remake this game
This game was the first I ever played on a PlayStation -- a few weeks before Christmas 1996, I was allowed to play the demo disc on our new console. As I was psyched to be getting Die Hard Trilogy, I played the demo of it -- a timed version of the first level. Blew my mind back then, and whenever I hear this music, it takes me right back!
awesome soundtrack , remind me off the good old 90's
Played this on the demo disc that came with my PS1. So awesome.
The way the innocent bystanders randomly yell 'PlleeASsE!' lol
I'm surprised he didn't shot down that red chopper right at the start... if you do it, you get permanent dual pistols.
I started saying "Shoot that chopper!" Like a freaking mad man 😂😂
If my memory serves me well, by shooting down the helicopter at the very beginning of the game, you could get a second gun ("Chow yun fat style").
Moreover, on the psx version, a cheat-code allowed you to create your own course in this rail-shooter style game.
DHT, my best psx game for sure :)
There was a custom game cheat code!? Aww wish I knew at the time.
Wish there was a pick-your-own-weapons cheat too. All explosive shotgun, all the time!
I love that each of the movie has a different gameplay
The other two games were ok, but this never got old, awesome game!
back when I was a gamer girl; little did I know next-gen wasn't going to be this fun.
Kelsey Kate smart girl, totally agree! Not many realizing this.. most get brainwashed/mindblown by simple graphics improvements.. which are such a small part in the actual enjoyment and experience of a game

Modern games have been ruined by obsession with realism and cinematics

This was my favourite of the three. I loved how the environment was so interactive. My favourite thing to do was to shoot the ceiling tiles and watch them fall on the bad guys.
Aliasing at his best and this is why i love these games.

i wasn't aware there are so many destroyable parts and secret routes.
After watching this 2nd part i realise this game's bgm is great.

Hell YES my favourite goddamn shooter on the PS1 other than Time Crisis, this game was awesome.
FinalGamerJames point blank was sick too
I used to love this with my lightgun as a kid. Spent 1000s hours playing this over and over but only ever managed to complete it in one run a handful of times
Can you imagine this game as 2 player like all other lightgun shooter !
You look at it now, nearly 30 years later, and it’s freakin’ superb! Way, way ahead of it’s time.
Shooting down the helicopter at the beginning gets you dual barettas
Back in the day, that was a thing! :D Good ol' times!
Oh man... that music at 7:57. Loved it!!!

My favorite was when you shot the snowmobile or something and it just said "Cool." In flashing letters 😂😂😂

I love this game so much I still have the cd after all these years
Better than Sega's Virtua Cop and Virtua Cop 2.
In the Virtua Cop and Virtua Cop 2, if you shoot the hostage, your life decreases by 1,
Die Hard 2 doesn't.
you just lose points in die hard 2

You’re supposed to stay in your seat until the plane reaches the terminal
This game is amazing and I still play it today. Brings back memories.
This is the first PS1 game, I beat. Tomb Raider was next. Damn. 96 was good year.
Wow, what a classic. Also shoot the damn ceiling tiles already it wastes all those guys in cover. Lol.
Oh how I love the screams!
Still remember renting the force feedback pistol from Blockbuster for this. I was enthrawled.

Does anyone else think this game has a killer soundtrack? Love it!

holy shit, I remember playing this with my dad at my uncle's house when I was like 5. Thanks for the nostalgic upload.
best on rail game so far.... Could only have better graphics
great old game!

Juzimaster DUH THE ONLY WAY YOU COuld PLAY DIE HARD TRILOGY on PSx IS WITH A LIGHTGUN And a crt tv
Remaking this game would make no point becuase it REQUIRES A LIGHT GUN AND ITS A 3D game and our technology is to concept to make 3D game like this
I remember as a kid trying to record the music from level 6 on a cassette tape haha
The hostage at 29:41 went completely nuts😂
46:03 the people standing on the wings while the plane is flying trying to shoot us down is why I want the game grumps to play this 🤣♥️
