    Remember, Al, if you use equipment you need a state permit. If you light off a couple of drums of ammonium nitrate / fuel oil, you can remove a dam and build a lovely pond in seconds

    • @mikeohandley6765
      @mikeohandley6765 3 года назад +3

      The ammonium nitrate and oil will only go off if he has a detonator - a smaller explosive. Just burning it won't set it off. A blasting cap or cherry bomb would be sufficient. Need to be careful of mixture ratio (1:1) and have to grind the ammonium-nitrate to fine powder before mixing and then don't compact it too tight or it won't go off. Best to ask around town and find an ex army MOS 12B (engineer) or 18C (SF demo guy) to do it for you - otherwise, make sure your life insurance is topped up. :-)

    I know you said that you found a trail. If it's big enough for your mule. You could you use a chain and the mule. Just wrap the chain around connect it to the mule and pull. I did that (except instead of a mule I used quad) when I had to clear thickets on my property for my horses.

    Good Morning Lumnah!!! Right as you said bear tracks I was thinking I wonder if there are momma and cubs fresh out of hibernation up there. We just got our first Butcher Box last week and threw some steaks on the grill this past week and oh my goodness everyone was 🤤 over them! I can’t wait to throw the salmon in the oven and try some of the drumsticks in the air fryer!

    so cool. our first look at the 500 after winter. So glad you had the road work contracted. i was thinking, the last time we got a glimpse there was a doser working," I hope Al gets those guys to fix the road." Glad you chose not to do it yourself.
    Questions remain. What does the new homesite look like now,
    What is the future of your beehives, You said they did not survive the winter, Will they bee replaced?
    Waiting for the new animals
    Are you going to separate areas on the homestead pasture for both the goats and the new animals?
    Will you be bringing back the loggers next winter?
    Did they leave you any working lumber for your builds or are you going to Jamaca Cottage again?
    So many questions! It is going to be an exciting season this year! So glad you let come along!

    If there is any way that you could get the Tank in there, or clear a path for it. I would suggest using the winch along with a good quality grappling hook or a medium sized danforth anchor to rip out larger sections. If the Tank is a no go then another way would be to use a pully block and tackle (4 sheeve) fastened to a sturdy tree with the hook or anchor.

    Take advantage of a chainsaw to break the dam in a way they can't simply patch it as the structure of the dam is strong due to the sticks in it spreading the force over a large area so simply putting vertical slits into the dam limits where the force is spread out. Yes you may damage a blade past where you can sharpen it but you can quickly damage the dam to the point it has to be abandoned.

    If the dam that looks like it’s blocked again is downstream from the dam that has the blowout then the new material may be the blow out debris from the upper dam. It makes sense because those side channels weren’t blocked as they are out of the main flow.

    A friend of mine used to use a chainsaw and would cut broad to narrow, making cuts often. Then they would go to the middle and start pulling it up. That way as the water was coming through the dam was weakened and came apart on its own. The other way I have done it is with Tannerite...
