@@DaydreamersBarnThat Cathedral is haunted as well by many historical spirits. You should visit Muncaster Castle and Sudeley Castle and Dartmoor and Wistmans Wood and The Cotswolds and Devon and a place called Boscastle as these places will take your breath away. Buckfastleigh and Buckfast Abbey.

The Brits don’t talk about it but have you yet noticed the secret magic when driving in narrow country lanes? Whenever a wide vehicle is coming in the other direction, there is always a passing /pullover point on hand. It is genuinely spooky.

Going down a road where the trees form a canopy across the road is known as "oojim country," on account that your "mother" will say to your "father," "ooh Jim, isn't this beautiful?" When it got to the end there in the dairy shop, I'd have turned around frightened and left, having been confronted with all that technology - I can't even figure out pay and display machines in car parks these days, I'm about 30 years behind the times. I can only imagine that to be a part of your family would be an absolute joy.

If you think the roads in Norfolk are narrow, you should try some of the lanes in the West Country. Not only narrow, but high banks and hedgerows on both sides so you can't see the surrounding fields. During the summer months, when it's busy with holidaymakers, you become very expert at reversing to overtaking spots.

Two things. I think I noticed in the Priory that some arches were round, and some were pointed. The round ones could be called Romanesque and would predate 1200, and the pointed ones can be called Gothic and would postdate 1200. Then these big periods can be subdivided.
When you're driving along the lanes, there are masses of white flowers in the verges. The botanists' name is Cow Parsley, but we call the general effect Queen Anne's Lace.

A fun idea for a cheap day out in Norfolk is to make it a Windmill Hunt. (Actually they're mostly water pumps but let's not get technical.) Just look on the map for them and do a little tour. Some may have interesting history, or gift shops, or teashops or boat moorings nearby, or just look picturesque - plenty of photo opps! There are loads of them, in various states of dis/repair, because as I'm sure you know by now, much of Norfolk is reclaimed land from the sea, like its equally flat neighbour just across the North Sea, the Netherlands - also famous for its windmills.

Glad you got some Binham cheese. Its a nice area of North Norfolk. In the same neck of the woods as Walsingham. Walsingham, also has a ruined priory and is a religious place. In medieval times the place to go to. Still has visitors from all over the world. The Lourdes of its day. If you fancy a pilgrimage its a must. Still in use. Best avoided at Easter.

I can see you with a flower farm as you always have a beautiful vase of flowers in shot when you film at home.
I did laugh at the ‘do not climb on the walls’ sign; growing up in a town with a ruined medieval priory, as kids we, of course, ignored the signs and clambered all over the ruins. Shocking really.
If we ever get some sun, it will soon be time to go strawberry picking and there are loads of places around you to do that. If you don’t eat more than what goes in the punnets of course. 😉 Yum yum.

Bit afraid that the towering piles of masonry might come toppling over, but they’ve obviously stood the test of time. Fantastic partially ruined abbey, enhanced by the swards of grass with their carpets of buttercups, a lovely picture of rural England. Great video once again, the sound quality too, was excellent. Hi there you two. Me again, still with WAAAAY too much time on my hands. A few more pointers for you:
05:15 That building in front of you looks like it was what was known as a "National School". Although there were some schools in existence before 1833 it wasn't until that year that the state got involved in funding education and made it compulsory. The Elementary Education Act of 1870 resulted in the large scale building of schools for children between the ages of 5 and 12. These schools were generally known as "National Schools".
Many of the buildings are still in use as Schools whilst others have been repurposed as homes, community buildings and even pubs!
10:00 In many parts of Northern England there is a phrase to denote dark clouds in front of you : "It's looking a bit dark over Bill's Mother's." and that view is a perfect example. Quite who Bill or his Mother are or were is open to debate. 😉
A lover of flowers? An Anthophile. 🙂
13:05 After the Great War, now better known as World War I, and the deaths of over 880,000 British, British Empire and British Commonwealth military, many communities decided to commemorate the fallen by building somewhere that could be shared as a facility by the whole community. As a result many "Memorial Halls" were built although some were and are simply known as Village Halls.
    Great video. More please! 🙂
